RE: the map, it's a racing game and you can't exit the car nor drive on water. They could've used more land instead of that big chunk of water.

 

Great stuff otherwise, i dont care how they are naming it as reboot, i'm calling this NFS Underground 3.

 

 

Indeed, but it is geographically inspired on a coastal city, and the place is called Ventura Bay.. so there kinda has to be a bay somewhere. There's more land though, keep that in mind. That is NOT the full map. It's a fair piece of it, but there is definitely alot more road to the West and the North.

Yeah I've been hoping for one too. I've actually had my eye on a 2015 gti irl. I wouldn't count it out just yet though. If we do get it, I'd give up the slot I've saved for the sti hatchback in a heartbeat.

It's borderline impossible for them to only have one VW in the game, and have it be a classic. You won't have to hold your breath too long on seeing atleast one newer GTi

Yup, burnwood is probably like beverly hills/hollywood hills and further south is probably Long beach and then furthest south is the industrial dock area. Not geographically correct at all but I guess it doesnt really matter. The rest I have no idea. LA doesnt have an island nearby other than catalina which I doubt is that.

True but we've already seen beta gameplay uploaded and retweeted by the community manager of Ghost Games, that's hopefully promising foreshadowing towards lenient gameplay footage rules.

 

The beta agreement says we can openly discuss the beta on forums, the only thing they really don't want you doing is sharing your copy of the beta with anyone.

Game looks pretty good imo. Only things I dislike are the 5 car limit and the constant Internet connection required to play.

 

Anyway, I hope this game is good as it looks. I thought the last 3 NFS games were crap (especially Rivals. Seriously, f*ck that game) This could be the one that brings me back to the series.

I think this game is going to live up to the hype and it will be epic. Rivals was such a disappointment. I don't even remember being very excited for it.

Absolutely, the world is completely open from the moment you install the game and you're free to roam it in a public, private, or solo session.

 

Here's my view on the whole always online thing. I respect that not everyone has access to a consistent internet connection, or a fast internet connection, but I always get a little chuckle out of the complete outrage being posted on the internet of needing the internet to play a game.

 

You don't need the best internet connection on the planet to connect to their servers once every few minutes for things such as snapshots and auto saves. If your internet is so bad that you can't play with 7 other people, then take your happy ass to a single player session.

 

I have amazing internet but I'll very rarely be playing with others. Only people I know. I don't want to see your riced out civic doing donuts. I treat GTA Online the same way, I barely play the game for GTA itself, I just take pictures and do goofy sh*t to pass a little time.

I don't like it because if EA servers are down, PSN is down or my own Internet connection is down, then I can't play it at all.

 

Also EA servers are crap. In Rivals you would be booted to the garage if host migration was taking place, even if you were in the middle of an event which was fvuking annoying and it happened a lot.

Ghost Games will be providing dedicated servers for this installment. Server stability should be a massive improvement, and is the main focus of the beta coming shortly.

Maybe this doesn't apply to you specifically, but I do this and I assume a lot of other people do as well.

Do you ever go back to play NFS Underground? Or Hot Pursuit 2? Or ANY other older games from the original Xbox/PS2 era and back? Because I do. I regularly still play older games. I went and payed more for a backwards compatible PS3 just for the convenience of doing it all on one system, because I still love older games.

 

Well guess what? If those games were online only and required an internet connection, I wouldn't be able to play them ever again. I want the games I spend my money on to be playable at any point in time, regardless if it's a week from now or two decades from now.

 

Now this is different for online only games like The Crew for example, because the online aspect of that game is the core of what it is. It is MEANT to be an online game. But this game? I don't care about autolog. I don't care about stat tracking. I want to play through the story and customize my car and perhaps do it all over again when the Playstation 5 comes out. But if the game is online only, I won't be able to, unfortunately.

You need to also consider that if there is enough demand once the game reaches the end of it's 'server cycle' that they would disconnect autolog and put a patch in place to make the game single player. We live in a time where that is possible. I'd certainly hope they would consider it.

If SimCity could ditch their 'cloud' based performance or whatever that required them to be always online, so could NFS in the future

I'm thinking about doing one car for each style too, something like this:

 

Style: Nissan Skyline R-34 V-Spec (1999)

Build: Nissan Silvia S-15 Spec-R

Speed: Lamborghini Diablo SV

Outlaw: BMW M3 E-46 GTR

Crew: Honda S2000

 

The only "Hyper Car" i'm going to purchase is the Diablo SV because with the correct build it can be pretty useful for the Speed category, my favorite one is and will always be the Skyline R-34.
