I used to play my modded version of SA on my 5-6 years old laptop which has an HDD. It's a decent working machine, with 2 core, 4 thread i7 and mobility Radeon R5 260.

The mods I'm using there are exclusively the mods that recreate PS2 version. Silentpatch, Skygfx, PS2 textures and similar stuff alongside with Open Limit Adjuster and modloader for the sake of adding additional beta things, like beta gang members.

I kept a somewhat higher res, 1024×768 and 2X AA. Always kept frames locked at 30 of course.

In the meantime I bought myself a new gaming PC, strictly for gaming with a simple SATA SSD, literally put my modded game with save and option files on USB stick and transferred it all to a new machine.

I couldn't believe how smoother the game run. It's literally the same game. It's undoubtedly running 30 FPS on both machines, without a single drop - tested it with MSI AB - but the smoothness on the desktop machine is clear as day. Even when I didn't own a desktop PC I was wondering why is my experience on laptop so choppy? I even dusted off my PS2 and it somewhat felt smoother.

Could it be that SSDs are bringing such a huge difference?

The game streams its assets from storage so I guess that could contribute a lot if the HDD isn't particularly good. If you have enough RAM on the laptop you could try the load whole map script & see if that helps smoothen out some hiccups.

How to find that post from Ash? I have the same problem, my sun is small and I don't know how to make it bigger as on Ps2. I have installed project 2dx, ps2 seabed, Skygfx...I guess I need to change something in scripts of one of those files???

I think you don't need any edited seabed.ipl other than the original one used on PS2 - I know there was one once, but I think TheHero was the author. Download p2dfx, that comes with the Limit Adjuster and LodLights mods. Find " Sun Size " parameter inside LodLights. It has the decimal, default value of " 20.0 ". Make sure you change it to " 0 " - not " 0.0 " or similar, but " 0 ". By doing so you will still have the exact same PS2 sun size and effects and you will be able to play around with other draw distance parameters inside the LodLights mod, such as the ' Minimal Draw Distance on the Ground ' - general draw distance - as well as other DD's under the ' IDETweaker ' section inside the same mod. Note that the ' minddrawontheground ' is set to 800 by default inside LodLights and I think default DD of PS2 version of the game is somewhere above 400 or something - as far as I know. I keep it turned off, set to " 0 ", in order to maintain the sun size and its effects, so it's basically set to PS2's default ddraw. I do, however, enhance other IDETweaker parameters for the better visuals. Pushing more than 500-600 on the same parameter will lessen the sun's effect, since the draw distance, sun size and sun dispersion are correlated.

Sun size depends on timecycle far clip. seabed.ipl has tcyc entries to modify those on PS2 and Xbox. Whatever you're doing it won't be accurate unless you use an original timecyc.dat (at least the far clip values) and console seabed.ipl.

So I deleted a tree map mod but as we all know: MEd is one of the most horrible tool to create map mods so had to remove because of parts of the map became unsolid. Now the lamps at the Caligula Casino is vanished too. What's the name of the .ipl/.ide file is to restore?

Sorry for asking this. I'm trying to gather some small mods that brings back some stuff, Don't need all. ntdll.dll crash is what it keeps me away from SA..

There was also a fix for the bugged poles in the deserts at the camping place that looks messed up.

-edit-

Got a map bug:

The cause is the folder 'models' from the PS2 Map from the OP.

This is not a problem with the PS2 Features To PC, but your modifications cause bug sh*t.

Hey, excuse my desperation, but I love this mod, so I want to know when an update is coming, oh and I also want to know if ALL the ps2 parked vehicles are still on the current ps2 map link, and if not, how can I get them back?

PS2 Map do nothing to interior textures. The problem like that happen because Rockstar change/remake some of texture while porting the game from PS2. So, i recommend you to using ps2 texture from this OP. You can use only the gta_int folder inside it if you doesn't want the whole in game world become PS2 quality aka. lower resolution.

EDIT : Nvm, it fixed when I uninstalled useless mods.

Unfortunately, I installed all the OP's mods on clean game and nothing changed at all, apart from the fixed shadow. After that, I investigate more "in depth" with freecam and what I got is this :

Spoiler

- There's something wrong with the mirror. The banner is there but it's covered by the mirror?

nfpvkQr.png

- Looks like the mirror is glitched and placed wrongfully. It creats a glitched gap/cracks, and it covers the banner.

9oMsYwa.png

- More pics. Notice the banner and the black line (cam through mirror) :

Any way to fix this? It bothers me the most.

How to install "Hot coffee mod" while my game is in progress, so I don't need to start new game?

I Don't Know If this works, but try to Use The "Savegame Editor" and modify the save file you want to activate the Hot coffee Mod

I don't see what  this has to do with the topic? Hidden interior are just useless, since those are unaccesible.

In this video it shows the different colors and interiors on the ps2 also the cj is different in the muscles, fats, thin their heads are changed.

Inadequate, trying to add these colors to the interiors to make them close to the ps2 would be a reconstruction way.

Edit

Remember that necks are different on ps2.

So the lanterns outside of the Four Dragons Casino are still a little bit messed up compared to the PS2 version of the game. This string of lanterns is supposed to be full like all of the other sides, but they cut off about halfway. Any possibility of seeing these fixed? https://imgur.com/s33r9kv

It seems that PS2 Feels SA Edition is causing black screen during the initial cutscene. (After CJ gets put into a police car by Tenpenny and scene transitions)

If you skip the cutscene, the game works fine, letting me control CJ and get on the bike, but watching the cutscene always ends in black screen unless I remove PS2 Feels SA Edition.

Anyone have info regarding this?

**Edit: On top of this, PS2 Feels SA Edition screws up loading in assets. pop-ins happen randomly at extremely close range. When the game first allows you to save, (had to skip the initial cutscene like I mentioned above), when you look around, grovestreet houses/bridge are popping in/out like crazy. This also solves itself once I remove the mod. Unless I royally screwed up the install, I think there are fundamental issues with the mod. I don't recommend it.
