Best HDTV for GTA V on xboxone/PS4

Recommended Posts

Hey, guys I was just looking for some opinions on what kind of hdtv would give me the best image quality for GTA V. I will be sitting about 6-7 ft from my tv and my price range is $600 and under. Right now I am looking at a 1080p 40in Samsung HDTV, but just wanted to get peoples thoughts on this, and if they know any better TV I should get.

i.e- last-gen gta V looked horrible on my 2008 42" Phillips HDTV. It hurt my eyes because there was so much jaggies.

Just know that whatever tv you get won't make jaggies "fully" disappear. (If there is any in whatever game you play)

If you can get a 1080p tv that's great.

The TV I'll be playing current gen V on has a blue line down the right hand side of the screen, it's only like a pixel wide but it runs from top to bottom. It comes and goes but is there more often than not. The TV is otherwise great which is just as well as I won't be getting a new one any time soon. I just hope the issue doesn't get any worse.

Sony KV 36HS510 - 36" WEGA CRT TV - 1080i

Supports 1080i, I assume all 16:9 content is letter boxed.

The woman on the screen seems fairly happy, so I guess it'll improve your GTA V experience?

I'm running a 55" Samsung 1080p TV and it's great with no issues so I would definitely recommend getting a Samsung TV as you're already considering. If you want a TV thats 50" with your $600 limit you could get a 50" LG TV for a on-sale price of $590 on Amazon. LG is also a great TV brand so if you want a bigger TV, it's a route you may want to consider.

For 1080p, and sitting at 6-7ft, the best size TV for that distance is a 46in-50in. Next-gen would look pretty optimal at that distance.

The native resolution for the game on the previous gen was 720p, wasn't it? The game looked like it had a lot of jaggies as it is, but 40in at that distance is a bit close for 720p, which might be part of why they were more noticeable for you.

I'm not sure on exact TVs, but for that money and the size you'd be looking for, I imagine you could get a pretty decent TV that does 1080p and has specs suitable to bring out the best your gaming experience.

Is your old TV native 1080P? Last gen consoles render games at 720P so there will be some jaggies when up-scaled.

Yea it was native 1080p, but I plan on getting a TV in my bedroom so I wont be playing games on that TV anymore, so I was just hoping someone could recommend me a good 1080p HDTV that I can use to game in my room. Also all the steams I saw of this gens gta v seem to have no jaggies.

Thank you for your input I'm hoping the jaggies were dealt with for the xboxone/ps4 version of the game because they ruined my experience on my xbox360, and i definitely think the jaggies were much worse on my TV then others.

Whats the exact series and specs of your 55in Samsung 1080p TV

2009 TCL Erios 55" 1080P tv with Frame interpolation. It's clear, crisp and offers a really nice image, It doesn't envy nothing to the new models. Besides of the image, a Sony 5.1 Home Theather sound system with DTS and Digital Optical audio cable is equipped too. It will be freaking glorious.

120Hz Full 1080p HD Plasma, SMART & 3D TV.

1080p, 60+hz, and make sure it's not a 80 inch. Larger TV's tend to lose quality in the picture.

I would stay away with anything 60 hrtz. or lower, all my 60 hrtz. tv's in the house look crappy compared to all my 120 hrtz. or higher. TV's. I would not get Plasma for video games. Hud's hate plasmas. Could burn image to screen. Very unlikely, but I've seen it before.

Anything 1080. Since you are even asking this question you, like me, won't be able to tell the difference between one or the other. So which ever is cheapest. Though TBH that size is too large, if it's just for your bedroom. If it's for your living room go for it but if it's just for your bedroom 32in will be plenty.
