No,you can use same psn account, but then you need to start online from beginning.

I don't know where some people get the " no you cannot transfer modded accounts anymore " from.. do some research instead of repeating what people who don't even know how to mod or ever own a modded account said. Anyways, you STILL can transfer modded accounts. The character just gotta be 30 days old and shouldn't have crazy high rank like 1 billion or rank 8000. I transferred mine with 400 mill and rank 300 and I transferred fine after 30 days.

Rockstar support is actually useless.

I play on the PS4, but I've become separated from it for a while, and I've downloaded GTAV from Steam. Now, obviously I have to link my Social Club account.

Will this f*ck up anything with the Ps4-character?

Again, I'm not looking to transfer over to PC.

Hello friends.
I have gta5 on my ps3 (my primary account) which is fortunate to find a hacker who gave me many millions of money and I wonder if I can recover all this on ps4 by running the game on a secondary account that I will buy or only Can I do this by buying a primary account? I hope you understand me

Hello lads and ladies.

So my little brother recently bought GTA V on his new PS4, and we're trying to transfer his xbox360 online GTA character over to his PS4 game.

I know the whole process of how it needs to be done, but the problem is the following statement that keeps popping up.

Previous GTA Online Characters and progress are associated with this social club account, but we are unable to transfer your character and progression data at this time. please contact our customer support team at bla bla bla for assistance.

This prevents us from transferring the character.

Maybe the problem will solve itself by waiting, I don't know?

Maybe there's another solution to this problem, and that's what I want to ask to all of you people.

Thank you in advance !

Ps3 and I assume 360 save game servers are broken at the moment. Later on you should transfer ok.

Straight from Rockstar Support (and what will transfer) :

Transferring to PlayStation®4

What you need:

  1. A copy of Grand Theft Auto V on PlayStation®4.
  2. Previous Grand Theft Auto Online character and progression data on either PlayStation®3 or Xbox 360.
  3. A Rockstar Games Social Club account. If you do not already have a Social Club account, you will need to create one. Click here for info on creating an account.
  4. A PlayStation®Network account and PlayStation®Plus membership.
    • If transferring from PlayStation®3, your Social Club account will need to be linked to the PlayStation®Network account used to play GTA Online on both systems.
    • If transferring from Xbox 360, your Social Club account will need to be linked to the Xbox Live account used while playing GTA Online on Xbox 360 and the PlayStation®Network account used to play GTA Online on PlayStation®4.
    • If you still need to link your Social Club account to your console account(s), please click here for more information.

How to transfer your previous Grand Theft Auto Online character and progression data to PlayStation®4:

  1. Start Grand Theft Auto V on PlayStation®4 and log into the PlayStation®Network.
  2. Enter GTA Online via the Character Select Wheel or the Pause Menu.
  3. You will be given the option to transfer your previous GTA Online character and progression data, along with the opportunity to change your character’s appearance again. If you wish to complete the transfer later, you can return to this option via the Online section of the Pause Menu.
  4. Once you have chosen to transfer your previous character and progression data, the transferrable in-game money, RP and Rank of all previous characters will be displayed. These are the characters that will be transferred to PlayStation®4. If you have previous character and progression data on both the PlayStation®3 and Xbox 360, you will be prompted to select one set of data. You can only transfer one set of character and progression data for your PlayStation®Network account on PlayStation®4.
  5. Once the transfer has completed, you will be prompted to choose a character and enter GTA Online.

Please note:

  • Any existing PlayStation®4 GTA Online character and progression data will be replaced by your previous character and progression data during the transfer, except for any existing in-game money, which will be combined with your transferred balance.
  • All earned in-game money will transfer. Purchased in-game money that has not yet been spent will only transfer within a console family (e.g. PlayStation®3 to PlayStation®4).
  • You will still be able to play with your existing characters on PlayStation®3 and/or Xbox 360, however any progress made with versions of the characters on those systems after a transfer will remain on the those systems only.

How to create a Rockstar Games Social Club account (if you don’t already have one):

You can create an account in one of two ways:

  1. Within Grand Theft Auto V, if you access any Social Club-enabled feature (e.g. Snapmatic, Crews or Creator), the game will prompt you to log-in or create a Social Club account. Follow the on screen prompts to create your account.
  2. You can also create an account by visiting www.rockstargames.com/socialclub

How to link your PlayStation®Network and/or Xbox Live accounts:

In order to transfer your previous GTA Online character and progression data, you will need a Social Club account linked to the PlayStation®Network and/or Xbox Live account(s) used while previously playing Grand Theft Auto Online.

If you previously played GTA Online while logged in to the Social Club, the console account will be linked automatically (e.g. your PlayStation®Network account will automatically be linked to your Social Club account if you log into your Social Club account while playing GTA Online on PlayStation®3).

If you need to link your PlayStation®Network or Xbox Live account to your Social Club account, you can do so logging on to socialclub.rockstargames.com/settings/linkedaccounts.

What will be transferred:

  • Money – Earned in-game money will transfer. Purchased in-game money that has not yet been spent will only transfer within a console family (e.g. PlayStation®3 to PlayStation®4).
  • Rank and RP – You will have the same Rank and RP after transfer.
  • Game Progress – GTA Online progression will transfer including all unlocks, Contacts, Jobs, Trophies and stats.
  • Items and Property – Weapons/attachments, vehicles/modifications, properties, clothing and all aspects of character appearance will be transferred. Character-owned items (e.g. clothing, weapons, etc.) will remain in the character’s inventory and will not need to be repurchased in-game. Vehicles will appear in the same garage they were left in before the transfer.
  • Creator – Jobs made within the Creator will be transferred.
  • Crews – Existing Crew information will available.
  • Achievements and Trophies – Achievements and trophies will transfer. Additional overall Gamerscore will not be awarded for transferring achievement progress.

What will not be transferred:

  • Purchased in-game money that has not yet been spent will not transfer from across console families (e.g. Xbox 360 to PlayStation®4).
  • Published Job playlists and bookmarked playlists will not be available if transferring across console families (e.g. Xbox 360 to PlayStation®4).
  • Leaderboards, world records and personal bests will not be transferred.
  • Snapmatic photos within the game. All photos will still be accessible via the Social Club website.

Limitations on Transfer:

  • Transferring previous GTA Online data is a special feature of GTAV that may not be available to all users or at all times, and may, upon 30 days notice be terminated, modified, or offered under different terms.
  • Transfers may only be made between accounts owned by the same player and transfers may be rejected, modified, or reversed if the player or transfer violates the transfer requirements, Terms of Service (rockstargames.com/legal) or End User License Agreement (rockstargames.com/eula).

I hope I posted in the right place. I need some help as I am having trouble transferring from PS3 to PS4. I linked PS4 account to my Social Club account but my character doesn't show up. My crews show up though... It's also says "You are signed in to Social Club account (blank). No previous Grand Theft Auto Online data is associated with your Social Club account". It's it possible that I need to go back and check if I linked my social club account to my ps3 account? Any help I will greatly appreciate. Oh yeah, I just bought a PS4 yesterday, so this is what I get for doing it least minute lol.

Since Rockstar has removed the ability to transfer characters as of March 6 2017, this topic will be locked and unpinned.

Note to anyone reading: if you're looking for assistance with returning player content, that's a different matter and is still possible - feel free to open a thread if you're having an issue, or if you're looking for someone to help get you the returning player content, create a thread in Find Lobbies & Players (be weary since doing so involves passing over account information) or use Classique's thread if he's available. The only thing that's been removed is the ability to transfer online characters between systems.

Thanks!
