Transferring Your Previous GTA Online Characters and Progression

Im posting this in the official ps4 topic as well; this was my inital topic message:

I have an European(irish) ps3 console AND ps3 account. I might be transferring to ps4 soon. I'm currently residing in the US on vacation for who knows how long. I want to buy an American PS4 and may most likely make an american ps4 account too in addition to my existing european ps3 account.

I just realized though that I would probably need to transfer the character to the same exact account but on ps4. Basically just to log into the same account as ps3. Problem is, is the subscription service needed to access ps4 games online. Im not gonna have no way to pay for the subscription service because american and european psn card codes are not compatible with each other and i hardly have any cash on my european visa card.

Ive heard players being able to transfer their accounts cross-consoles or cross-to-PC, but i just want to know if I am able to create an (new) american playstation account (for PS4) and transfer over my european ps3 playstation account and GTA Online character to the aforementioned new PS4?

If not, what are my options?

Ive worked so hard on my ps3 online character that i wouldnt want to give it up and create a brand new one.

And this was someones response before the thread getting locked:

Your GTA Online character is tied to your Rockstar Games Social Club account, not your PSN account. I'm 99.9% sure you can make that new U.S account. link your SC account, and then transfer with no issue.

Ive done research recently and according to Socai club, psn and R*, the GTA online character is not directly connected to the Social Club account. PSN is the middleman between SC and GTA Online Characters.

Now, I have finally got an American PS4. I do not wanna play on european servers anymore and/nor with europeans. My problem is that I want to keep my original account but change regions on the offical playstation website however PSN does not support region change.

Now, if I wanted to make a new account thats american, could I somehow transfer my european character to an american ps4 on GTA: Online???

If not, am i able to make a 2nd account (thats american) whilst using the same exact email address but create a new region for it (whilst signed in as a guest or something)?????

If you already transfered once from PS3/360 to PS4 you won't be able to transfer again but if you use the same PSN then you should still be able to use your main character otherwise you'll have to start over.

In order to transfer progress you MUST use the same exactly PS Gamertag

But if i sign in on a brand new american ps4 with my european account as my main account; will the the region of that same exact psn account change itself to the american region or will it stay permanently as a european region account?

Also, is the whole region thing aesthetic? Like for example, if i am using an american ps4 [using a main account} (which is the european from ps3), will i be using GTA, DCUO, etc....?

All you have to do is sign into your existing PSN account on your new PS3, then launch the game as normal. Your Story Mode progress will be lost though.

"You can only transfer a set of character and progression data from PlayStation®3 or Xbox 360 one once."

That is not true.

I went from PS3 to Xbox1, via character transfer in the GTA5 menu.

When I first connected my new Xbox1, the Xbox1 asked me to create an account and gave some options to use a random name, which I decided to use. I did not think about, it I just wanted to see the Xbox1 in action.

Anyway when I had finished playing with the Xbox1 and went to transfer my character over, I forgot to create a new account using my personal game tag. So I ended up with, “LeftwardTick” as my game tag. I was not a happy Bunny, so asked Rockstar to help. Got the usual crap about, its not their problem, cant help, talk to Microsoft, blar, blar, blar.

In the UK we have the “sale of goods act, as amended by the sale and supply of goods and services act”, which affords us some protection in cases where a service is purchased (GTA online is a service).

I put this to them and they decided to “ROLLBACK” my account to the old PS3 settings, I lost any money and RP, I got with the “LeftwardTick” account. But other than that the “Pinkbeef” account kept all money, RP, cars, flats, during the new transfer.

I'm still not a happy Bunny (because Europe sucks, and we need to get out), but I'm back to being Pinkbeef.

Now if I could only get myself a life and a girlfriend, cant hide my hairy palms any more.

The trouble I would have linking my gamertag with my social club account is that the email address and password is eleven years old and no longer works. I have a current email address and password which is linked with my social club account so I only need to figure out how to transfer my files from the old gamer tag to the new gamertag. I'm kinda hoping the cloud save could help me do that. I understand i could use the old gamertag as an alias but don't know how. Any help would be appreciated.

Yep, you're screwed. You can't transfer a second time.

I had GTA 5 on my ps3 and then I buyed a xboxone so now i have also buyed GTA again on mmoga. They sent my log in information for an account where GTA5 was buyed. I downloaded the game and then i startet it on my main account nad there i importet my charakters from the ps3 and experienced no problems. Then i startet Gta Online on the account mmoga gave me and there i saw that i had 1.25 million dollars in the bank. appereantly they gave me also a Cash Card from GTA which i didn´t know at first. But the problem i have is that on my main account i have a relative high level but almost no money and on the other account i have money but no RP. So is there a way to transfer the money to my main account?

Sorry for my bad english

I am going from PS3 to PS 4. Will it transfer both characters? My understanding is it will but dunno for sure. I have garages full of $13 k gang cars (to sell every game day) besides keeper cars like supers. Do the gang cars still sell at $13k?

It concerns me going to the 30 person lobby vs 15 in PS3. What has changed or been nerfed in PS4? Are solo jobs still available. Being able to move out of a no win situation via solo job critical. What has changed in mining high end cars to sell?

My main motivation going to PS4 is getting the yacht and extra properties. What other pluses?

Can we transfer from PC to PS4 yet?

I went from 360 to PC years ago, my PC died last week and I own a PS4. I'm too poor to fix my PC, has there been any cases where they allow PC to console transfers? Is it technically possible on their part? I've only ever had the one character throughout, lvl260. I really don't want to lose all that...

I didn't have PlayStation plus for almost a month and I come back today and for some reason my original character is not their anymore, instead it is a different one I had made after the original one and now my level has transferred to my other character and my money too. But I can't seem to get my character back and I had 3 property's and my Zentorno with other things but can't get it back.

Straight from Rockstar Support (and what will transfer) :

Transferring to PlayStation®4

What you need:

  1. A copy of Grand Theft Auto V on PlayStation®4.
  2. Previous Grand Theft Auto Online character and progression data on either PlayStation®3 or Xbox 360.
  3. A Rockstar Games Social Club account. If you do not already have a Social Club account, you will need to create one. Click here for info on creating an account.
  4. A PlayStation®Network account and PlayStation®Plus membership.
    • If transferring from PlayStation®3, your Social Club account will need to be linked to the PlayStation®Network account used to play GTA Online on both systems.
    • If transferring from Xbox 360, your Social Club account will need to be linked to the Xbox Live account used while playing GTA Online on Xbox 360 and the PlayStation®Network account used to play GTA Online on PlayStation®4.
    • If you still need to link your Social Club account to your console account(s), please click here for more information.

How to transfer your previous Grand Theft Auto Online character and progression data to PlayStation®4:

  1. Start Grand Theft Auto V on PlayStation®4 and log into the PlayStation®Network.
  2. Enter GTA Online via the Character Select Wheel or the Pause Menu.
  3. You will be given the option to transfer your previous GTA Online character and progression data, along with the opportunity to change your character’s appearance again. If you wish to complete the transfer later, you can return to this option via the Online section of the Pause Menu.
  4. Once you have chosen to transfer your previous character and progression data, the transferrable in-game money, RP and Rank of all previous characters will be displayed. These are the characters that will be transferred to PlayStation®4. If you have previous character and progression data on both the PlayStation®3 and Xbox 360, you will be prompted to select one set of data. You can only transfer one set of character and progression data for your PlayStation®Network account on PlayStation®4.
  5. Once the transfer has completed, you will be prompted to choose a character and enter GTA Online.

Please note:

  • Any existing PlayStation®4 GTA Online character and progression data will be replaced by your previous character and progression data during the transfer, except for any existing in-game money, which will be combined with your transferred balance.
  • All earned in-game money will transfer. Purchased in-game money that has not yet been spent will only transfer within a console family (e.g. PlayStation®3 to PlayStation®4).
  • You will still be able to play with your existing characters on PlayStation®3 and/or Xbox 360, however any progress made with versions of the characters on those systems after a transfer will remain on the those systems only.

How to create a Rockstar Games Social Club account (if you don’t already have one):

You can create an account in one of two ways:

  1. Within Grand Theft Auto V, if you access any Social Club-enabled feature (e.g. Snapmatic, Crews or Creator), the game will prompt you to log-in or create a Social Club account. Follow the on screen prompts to create your account.
  2. You can also create an account by visiting www.rockstargames.com/socialclub

How to link your PlayStation®Network and/or Xbox Live accounts:

In order to transfer your previous GTA Online character and progression data, you will need a Social Club account linked to the PlayStation®Network and/or Xbox Live account(s) used while previously playing Grand Theft Auto Online.

If you previously played GTA Online while logged in to the Social Club, the console account will be linked automatically (e.g. your PlayStation®Network account will automatically be linked to your Social Club account if you log into your Social Club account while playing GTA Online on PlayStation®3).

If you need to link your PlayStation®Network or Xbox Live account to your Social Club account, you can do so logging on to socialclub.rockstargames.com/settings/linkedaccounts.

What will be transferred:

  • Money – Earned in-game money will transfer. Purchased in-game money that has not yet been spent will only transfer within a console family (e.g. PlayStation®3 to PlayStation®4).
  • Rank and RP – You will have the same Rank and RP after transfer.
  • Game Progress – GTA Online progression will transfer including all unlocks, Contacts, Jobs, Trophies and stats.
  • Items and Property – Weapons/attachments, vehicles/modifications, properties, clothing and all aspects of character appearance will be transferred. Character-owned items (e.g. clothing, weapons, etc.) will remain in the character’s inventory and will not need to be repurchased in-game. Vehicles will appear in the same garage they were left in before the transfer.
  • Creator – Jobs made within the Creator will be transferred.
  • Crews – Existing Crew information will available.
  • Achievements and Trophies – Achievements and trophies will transfer. Additional overall Gamerscore will not be awarded for transferring achievement progress.

What will not be transferred:

  • Purchased in-game money that has not yet been spent will not transfer from across console families (e.g. Xbox 360 to PlayStation®4).
  • Published Job playlists and bookmarked playlists will not be available if transferring across console families (e.g. Xbox 360 to PlayStation®4).
  • Leaderboards, world records and personal bests will not be transferred.
  • Snapmatic photos within the game. All photos will still be accessible via the Social Club website.

Limitations on Transfer:

  • Transferring previous GTA Online data is a special feature of GTAV that may not be available to all users or at all times, and may, upon 30 days notice be terminated, modified, or offered under different terms.
  • Transfers may only be made between accounts owned by the same player and transfers may be rejected, modified, or reversed if the player or transfer violates the transfer requirements, Terms of Service (rockstargames.com/legal) or End User License Agreement (rockstargames.com/eula).

I have done every thing this things says. Please some one help me. Is it a glitch, bug of can i just not transfer PS4 to Xbox one.

Got a bit of an issue and wanted help from other players, as R* Support hasn't really answered my question.

So I have my PS4 PSN (let's call it PSN A) tied to my social club account, and also my Steam. Would I be able to unlink PSN A, and link a new PSN (PSN B), use that to transfer from PS4 to PC, then unlink PSN B, relink PSN A and not have an issue?

I hope it makes sense.
