I just found something pretty cool, not sure if it's been found before.

I was walking around a small housing estate and saw a banner advertising an apartment with a phone number underneath:

323-555-0139

I called the number and some strange music plays. Not sure if it's just a small egg or has any meaning. Anyone??

Hello Everyone

I am new on here, but a long time reader.

Im not yet 100% but i am looking hard for anything that will help, and i have come across something (that may turn out to be nothing) that i thought another set of eyes might help with.

I was in a chopper above the Megamall near grove street and i noticed that on the roof there are 2 dark brown shapes that when viewed from the correct angle make a very distinct arrow. This is when the taller part of the building os on the left. This arrow points straight to the gas works which on exploration (PS4) has a lot of graphical bugs there.

I know its tenuous at best, but you never know, and the arrow when you see it seems hard to believe it has never been mentioned.

Don't know whether this has been mentioned or not, but there's secrets on the special edition blueprint map that can only viewed using a blacklight, right?

And on next gen you can add neon to cars and one of the options is a blacklight which looks very similar (exactly?) to purple so what's the point in it? maybe somebody can check down the docks mentioned on the map using a car with a blacklight? I would but I'm just too lazy atm.

EDIT: Just had a quick look with a voltic and couldn't see anything, the neon doesn't really cover a large surface area, also if you look I would recommend using a panto as you can get into all those nooks and crannies.

We had discussed this a while back and some of us, me included, did some experimenting. We didn't turn up anything. That would make sense since the last gen version of the game didn't have the blacklight undercarriage and the mystery should be able to be solved on all versions. I even went as far as to get a car on it's side by the mural to see if it showed us anything, no dice.

I haven't been posting much since I haven't really found anything post worthy in a while. It doesn't bother me when the thread gets quiet, I'd rather have it quiet than it filled with outrageous theories like some other forums lol.

Evening all, or morning, whatever the case may be.

I just wanted to drop a little bit of advice, might be common sense to some, about how occlusion culling works in GTAV. I'm a games designer, some have some insight into this.

noClip turns off collision detection, which allows you to pass through solid surfaces. That's fine, all well and dandy. But it has its issues. The main issue being that a game such as GTAV relies heavily on occlusion culling via via portals. This means in laymans terms, that what you see, is all you can see, to a certain degree. If you can't see it, don't draw it. At least, as good as possible. This allows the game to reduce overdraw considerably, which is something relating to fillrate... In short, the more overdraw, the worse you're performance will be.

Its simple really. However, it also comes at a cost.

Games have two forms of hinting/area portals/area culling. The first is that when you remove yourself from the game world, everything is drawn. It works, its simple. That's because the engine is trying to decide what area volume you are in, and will tell the game what areas to render... You are no longer in a volume as such, so it will render everything. "Areas" are usually split via portals and hinting brushes. This is something we use per room, per area etc. This means that you can be in room A, place a portal on the doorway, and room B is now its own volume. So, if you turn a corner and can no longer see room B at all, the engine will tell the game to no longer render room B. Simple, effective stuff.

But...

This of course creates problems for the other method.

You see, you need to be in Room A for Room B to even have a chance of drawing at all. The other method, involves NOTHING being drawn other than what you can see from your original portal coordinates. This means that even if you noClip into the void, you will not be able to see anything other than what you could originally.

This is the issue with GTAV and noClipping... You can see the world, and it looks complete, sure... But certain locations will simply no render AT ALL, even if you noClip INTO THE VOLUME, until you pass the trigger point, the area portal brush.

To test this in GTAV, simply locate the hidden mines, and noClip through the terrain before going inside. The mines will show up as a short, simple structure, but wont display all the mine, You can visit the end of the tunnel outside, and even fly right into where the other sections of the tunnel should be, and theres simply nothing there at all. However, noClip into the tunnel, then move into those sections, and it suddenly becomes visible.

Its very simple, very effective, and very obvious. However it makes searching a pain in the arse, because you can no longer just "go under the terrain and look... Or even fly about inside the mountain and hope to just stumble on..." the secret.

So, there you have it... noClipping is smart, but has its problems, and you need to be aware of them. I myself have found a couple of new things doing this, mostly related to the sea. One of which is a location where there are three plants in a line, one orange, one green and one blue... Oddly. but I'm still searching for more.

Hope this helps all of us searching. Just remember... You need to pass a trigger point, a portal, before what you want to find will render.

Cheers all,

Gav

^ This would seem to answer some questions I had regarding things not loading for me.

There is a swimming pool in the backyard of a residence above a train tunnel. I am able to clip through the side of the pool when in the water and swim out and drop into the tunnel. Although I am on the ground, in the tunnel, there are no tracks, can't see the walls, can't see the ground detail...just looks like i'm walking in a toilet paper tube.

I can exit the tunnel, pretending to follow the tracks that don't exist and as soon as I exit tunnel everything loads as normal and expected. I always found this to be an odd glitch...but I maybe understand a bit better the why and how. Thanks!

Hey guys, been a while for me but I've been poking around lately. Nice work by Eram, AuntJeff, Fran, X, Gav, and everyone else. I was thinking something and had to share, because I personally don't know how do access files and all that jazz. I know that a lot of people were searching for files that are obviously labeled, like .jetpack, .Zombies, .Horses, etc.. But why would R make it so easy? They knew that the community would eventually get to the files, and pore through them with a fine toothed comb. So, knowing that this would happen, if you were trying to hide a file, wouldn't you attempt to give it a name that no one would suspect anything about? What I'm trying to say, is that there is probably some mundane named file in there that actually holds the answer to some of this stuff. Just sayin, I'd probably name it like ".bush 3" or ".blade of grass". Lol. Whaddya think? Anyone tried opening files with boring names?

Hello people.

I have a few months on track with this topic, watch videos on Youtube, read forums, etc. And recently I was told about two ingame phone numbers. They are hidden in a quiet, secluded places.

The first number: 545-555-0122. This number was discovered on a yacht during the mission "Daddy's Little Girl". The presence of this number in GTA: Online, i have not tested.

The second number: 808-555-1044. Strangely enough, but this phone number was discovered in GTA IV on the building of "The Fellowship of Enlightenment Center". I think it has something to do with the cult Epsilon.

I think we need to call on these phone numbers in a certain place. For example on the mountain Chiliad during the appearance of the UFO, or on a Epsilon cult farm. Find those things, maybe someone will answer.

P.S. Sorry my English.

I think the mystery is just that R* wanted to give people something to do in this game for as long as possible. So they put in a mural and other stuff that don't actually mean much or are just never meant to be "solved" the way people hope. But they know people will overthink things and keep looking. But that's just my theory.

Was watching a GTA V video by Cr1tikal and something was interesting; whenever you noClip through things, it seems interiors obviously do not load. This being said, as he changed player models via the trainer, the interiors suddenly loaded in. If you're keen on clipping into rooms and such, maybe the player model change will force a load in on the interiors.

I can't test this myself since I don't own a PC ver. of GTA V, can someone test this?

I'll keep all my work and findings here from now on. That place is a joke. Can see why people warned me against it.

@Mendosus many of the phone numbers found in game have been tested, most just leave a funky tune, a dial up noise, or a busy signal

Yeah I saw that take place over in the Prostitute Corpse thread. GiantSquidd and Hakato are both total asses to everyone that posts, but yet I've never seen either of them contribute sh*t to the hunt. I lurk over there to see if anyone finds anything new, but there is a lot of dickswinging going on and not a lot of actual work getting done despite their aggressive attitudes to outsiders.

Stick around here, there is a lot of cool findings in this thread and the people are so much nicer!

I don't think they want to contribute really. They are mods and input relevant dialogue just as is done here on GtaF. I don't really see the difference. They have stated before that effective mods are behind the scene mods...or something to that effect.

Even though I agree with the mod effectiveness being an underlying silence on most topics and replies, I do see occasions where the mods come in to reply and almost defuse a theory or significantly hinder any kind of replies by commenting too early. I feel this, when it does happen on those few occasions, is detrimental to the progress of the hunt and stunts the opportunity for other users to feel free to respond. I wish this didn't happen as frequently as it does. It is fun to speculate and hear others debunks and replies without the mods first, setting the table so to speak...so I hear you on that and take back what I said above....kind of.

Edit...how many times can I contradict myself in this post...3, 4...lol. Sorry!

Wow, I missed that post you made about the hook corpses and the backlash for not providing pics and "getting your sh*t together." Maybe too much action happening around there after PC launch. I think they get a bit overwhelmed and though they won't admit it, they might bring that into the sub in the form of irate and confrontational responses and posts. Sorry you had to endure that, it's bullsh*t.

I can only get the Army truck to spawn on a 100% complete game save.

Doesn't mean anything because I have seen odd things like this happen on different saves so, if someone could check on it and see what results you get, report back, see what we have(if anything).

Check a non 100% save.

Check a 100% save.

Report back the findings.

Thanks in advance to whoever.

I saw that you recently posted some interesting ideas on r/chiliadmystery. I for one appreciated them. Especially because the Reddit sub has been slimed with an unusually thick load of garbage posts and more-than-a-year-old "discoveries" since the PC version came out.

The last week or so has been a little better, but it's still really discouraging to see so many people on chiliadmystery making meaningless posts and then misdirecting blame when other members call them out on it. And as far as I can tell you didn't do any of that.

What I'm trying to say is, instead of giving up on one group (however justified that may be in the moment), you might enjoy it more if you just roll with the punches and keep trying to post useful ideas.

I've been following both sides since the hunt started and, honestly, both forums have serious problems. Both groups are full of irresponsible and immature members. Each group takes ideas from the other, people on one side "borrow" from people on another, people in the same forum steal from their friends... the noobs repeat old or debunked "discoveries" for attention and lulz... and then trolls start trading schoolyard insults. Everyone gets bored and frustrated, and a bunch of people give up.

And then YouTubers take advantage of that confusion to steal from everyone... not for meager Internet "points" but for actual profit. :miranda:

As long as you're posting honest ideas, explaining your thought processes, and showing where you're getting your inspiration and information from, the other honest members should give you the respect you deserve.

The mystery is still unresolved. It has been, and always shall be, a multi-forum and multi-platform exchange. (LLAP, anyone?) I don't think it will help to abandon X forum based on the bad attitudes of some of its members. Right now we don't need boycotts and strikes, but solidarity. And maybe a little (hopefully only a little) patience. Yeah. :alien:

Anyway, consider this an upvote. Peace.

Don't be surprised if your findings turn up over there with sometime else's name on them. They've lurked here and stole other's work many times. It seemed like a lot were in it to make a name for themselves and not to find answers. I deleted my account the last time I called someone out for it. Not all of them are like that though. We've had our share of trolls and jokers here too, but I've always felt more at home here.

I wonder if the upgrade to the maximum possible texture resolution and 4K on PC will bring to light any Secret texts we previously couldn't read due to texture quality, i know PS4/XB1 let us read things unreadable on LG/OG due to the upgrade in resolutions, may be nothing interesting but worth a shot. I know there's a computer screen inside TeQuila-la that has windows with text I couldn't read on PS4, that's one example, and it's probably used multiple places in the game. I don't know if even they were created in a higher resolution by Rockstar, but would be nice to see if it is so. If anything there might just be Easter Eggs or funny text.

I'm on PS4, are any of you guys playing on PC and able to use 4K or higher texture quality then a PS4? If so how does tiny text look, examples of tiny text would be the newspaper articles and letters in Franklins house on the table near the door, it's readable on PS4, but if it's clearer still on PC that would mean exploring this option would be worth it, if not just for small easter eggs and secrets, maybe not major finds, though I'm still waiting to see under those black clipboard covers but don't expect much.

(Last note, the added zoom function for PS4 is great for this sort of thing.)

I've tried to map the glyphs UFO/Eye on mount Chiliad with 5 UFOs on the map. Soon I will try to post a full comparison.

In the meantime, answer me, tried it-does anyone else call on the above numbers? Still have some ideas to explore farm Epsilon cult, but it's not soon.

Regarding the phone numbers...

I recently got the idea to try calling them IRL. The 2 above, unfortunately, I am unable to call due to limitations of my mobile phone plan. The 2 phone number appears to be based in Hawaii. Maybe someone else is willing to try...

Edit: Just tried the one @Mendosus posted at the top of this page (California phone number) and got the same message... "The call you have made is not allowed to be dialed from this number. Please dial 611 for more info..." =/

I mentioned before I believe most of the phone numbers in game have been tried and all have some type of "response" I'm assuming to make the IG world feel more alive.

I'm with my fellow dope compadre in thinking if the random phone numbers in the game lead to an Easter egg it would be something we'd have to call irl
