Seriously, how hard is it to use the proper title? It hasn't been "Next Generation" since the day the f*cking consoles came out, and no, it doesn't matter how many people use it or not.

Using correct terminology doesn't make someone a 'wise-ass', and if it did then I'd be happy to be one. Just because you're able to glean meaning from an incorrect term doesn't mean its use should be encouraged.

yeah even now when you open fire with a tank/jet it removes passive. Or at least it used to.

You can only see the barrel, like in one of the cinematic views.
