RDR versus GTAV

RDR is a game that feels like it has both quantity and quality. It's scenic, it's artful, it has brilliant social commentary, it seems like a lot of time went into making it all come together. I've been a fan of the GTA series for a long time and most games that come from Rockstar but V just doesn't have that same charm. I think a lot of important things were overlooked and I was done with it long before I stopped playing. I guess I was in denial, and hoping I could get more replay value out of it.

There's a hole in head in GTA V, i suggest to people like you to stop being a fanboy's and pay more attention to internal details instead of external details only.

V had holes in head? Really? Because i could`ve sworn that all i ever see in V is those ridiculous. unrealistic cheap swiss cheese looking like type of holes all over the body. You can machine gun someone`s head by dropping 200 rounds into his skull and after few seconds when the blood will get dry the skull will be completely fine.

You call this gore? The only GTA that had gore was 3 if you used "more gore" cheat. RDR indeed has gore and realistic looking wounds.

And btw, RDR doesn`t have fanboys, it has fans while V does have fanboys.

Thats not the best pic, but those are the holes. Pretty brutal... If you shoot someone in the head in GTAV there would be simply some fake looking blood.

You cant be serious. Now YOU have to be a fanboy to think that the level of gore in RDR is equal to that of Vs. You can shoot a guys skull into bits and pieces, all you can do is 5 is give them period face.

I hated RDR and thought it was unbearably boring. The first 10-15 missions are insanely mind numbing so much so that I immediately stopped playing the game. And the map is sooooooooo boring with small identical villages dotted about. Then there's the absolutely terrible acting and poor poor script (not the story line as I never finished the game but they way it's written)

I....I... I just... I can't... I just can't.

Yeah sure, more gore but in lower definition quality you've got that right.

I really find it hard to accept anyone finding red dead boring lol

And the acting the majority of rockstars games has been really good since GTA 3, V is really good, RDR is too. The actor's do something some voice actors don't, they shout. In a lot of games, especially older ones, it would be a very flat performance from a voice actor who can't be bothered and is doing it for a pay check, the early resident evil games are the best example, imagine that acting in RDR :O

Hate the game but the acting?!

The game is 3-4 years older of course it doesn`t have the same definition as V. This isn`t a valid complaint.

But remastered RDR in 1080p will be out pretty soon so...

The more i play V the more i get the feeling that Rockstar went only for the looks in V. Visuals, visuals and visuals. "f*ck it, let`s ignore everything from the story, gameplay and little details like gore and just make it look the best"...this is the feeling i have with V.

It`s nice to have good visuals but if this is the only thing that makes the game, then f*ck the visuals. You get bored of having just great visuals pretty soon if other things aren`t good.

I play RDR since the day it came out and i still didn`t get bored of it. On the other hand i was getting bored of V after 4.th or 5.th playthrough.

If i wanted only the visuals i`d bought a movie or take my binoculars and watch the nature through my window. But if i buy the game then i want to have some fun playing it, not only looking at.

WOAH! A game from 2010 has a lower IQ than a game from 2013/2014??!!

But in all seriousness, the excuses are getting pathetic now.

Both are great games with flaws, hard to say which I prefer.

I actually played RDR whilst waiting for GTA V so I played them back to back.

RockStar have made several 9.5/10 games, but they still have not made a 10/10 game in my opinion.

I just wish they could make a game that has virtually no flaws.

I am sure RDR fanboys will say the game is flawless, but your horse wandering off and drowning, repeating random events, guys being killed in a duel or bounty and coming back to life etc are just a few examples of annoying flaws that ruin the 10/10 potential.

GTA V is no different, same annoying type of flaws that make it 9.5/10 and not a 10/10 masterpiece

Sure if you go nitpicking you`ll find many "flaws" but those aren`t the type of flaws that would ruin your experience.

The one and only legit complaint i got with RDR is glitches. RDR is a very glitchy game, i`ve encountered more than 60 glitches in my 4 years of playing this game. But none of those glitches didn`t kill my fun with this game so i can live with it. And i`m sure all of this will be fixed with NG RDR.

Holy quote trains! Seriously though, guys, only quote the parts of the post you are replying to. There is no need for these ridiculously long quote trains, especially if the reply itself isn't particularly long.

Also, cracking a joke or two is fine, but don't quote them time and time again, please. :)

GTA V's "gore" was terrible. Even the gore in IV wasn't particularly great.

You shoot someone and all that appears is a red smudge on their body.

RDR's was really detailed.

oh my god... i remember this random event where a dude held a women to the ground with a knife by the saloon in armadillo and I took out a shottie and popped him in the head. That detail was gruesome...

There's a hole in head in GTA V, i suggest to people like you to stop being a fanboy's and pay more attention to internal details instead of external details only.

I....I... I just... I can't... I just can't.

Not many of my friends find it that good, maybe it's a cultural thing....americans have got a crazy love affair with the wild west and love all the movies and stories and stuff. Whereas I find it completely boring. Even if you did like the game or even I did like the game there is no arguing that the first 10-15 missions were really boring.

Kill animals around tiny farm.

Round up cows to small field 100m away.

Tame wild horse.

Race against other horse rider.

And so on and so on until I got pissed off and bored. And that's just the ones off the top of my head, basically the first 2-3hrs of gameplay is a tutorial to learn all the bullsh*t that I would never actually use again in the game.

And if i was a smart arse like you and knew how to embed a picture on here I would use one of a man eating a cock, so you will just have to use your imagination.

GTA V has alot to do but let`s take a quick look which game has better things to do;

GTA V;

-"hunting" (it`s probably the worst hunting i`ve every saw in some game. It doesn`t even deserves to be called like that. It`s pretty much just kill 50 elks in 2 minutes, photograph their bodies (is this a joke R*?) and just leave their corpses there because Cletus will come to pick them later. Wtf?)

-yoga (don`t even get me started on this one)

-tennis (ok but it has no replay value)

-golf (pretty good for a game actually but it`s not exactly an excitment)

-races (they are so easy that they feel useless)

-scuba diving (pretty cool tho but you get bored of it quick)

-collecting nuclear waste (really annoying and time consuming activity mostly due to that submarine handles like a piece of crap and you need 10 minutes to travel half of mile)

-collecting submarine parts (boooring)

-stunts (considering how fast you die when landing hard in V this isn`t an enjoyable activity)

-cinema (really?)

-darts (i think we have enough of it since Roman)

-paracuting (pretty decent activity)

-flight school (it gets boring very quick)

-hanging out with your friends (why? Like i haven`t got enough of listening them during the gameplay)

- "random events" (seriously? Looks like R* forgot what the word RANDOM actually means)

RDR;

-hunting minigame with challenges (personally i never get bored of this in RDR)

-sharpshooting challenges (lots of replay value)

-cleaning the gang hideouts (i could do it 100x more times and i still wouldn`t get bored of)

-bounty hunting (great activity, especially in Tall Trees where you need to fight bears coming your way while you`re fighting off endless waves of enemies on your way to Blackwater jail)

-tresaure hunter (interesting and rewarding)

-survivalist challenge (picking up so many plants could get eventually boring but since you need to always look for dangerous animals it`s pretty interesting)

-arm wrestling (fun to listen to your opponents`s voices)

-breaking horses (searching for Hungarian half breed in Mexico and American Standardbreed in Tall Trees is interesting and rewarding since you have the advantage of riding the fastest horses in the game

-5 finger fillet (amusing as hell)

- poker (love to cheat and then get called on a duel. Disarm your opponent and repeat that 10x and your fame goes up very fast)

-strangers are actually interesting in this game

-random events are actually random unlike in V

So, yeah no doubt- RDR wins in every way.

This is the biggest joke of a comment I've ever read. It's not even an opinion it's just someone with a hidden agenda that can't look at something from a neutral standpoint. To say that collecting submarine parts is boring and then in the next paragraph say that collecting plants is interesting is just full on bias and completely bullsh*t. If you can't look at a game from a neutral stand point then don't comment. Bet you are a christian.

Dude, you`re a moron. You`re probably the only person in this thread who find RDR boring. So i bet you`re just some spoiled COD playing immature little brat who thinks that all games need to be about gang shootouts, cops chasing and drug dealing.

You don`t like to herd cows in RDR? Then don`t f*cking play it. You hate taming wild horses? Well go back to your cheap FP shooters then because RDR happens to be one of the best game for 99.99% gaming population worldwide.

I clearly said that gathering the plants could get boring but despite on how beautifull the world in RDR is it may be little less tedious.

And what the hell does religion got to do with this? Are you on something?

Pretty sure that guy needs a explosion every second to not find a game boring. And im also pretty sure he skips every cutscene, because well.. they are boring.

Even if he did find games boring if they didn't have explosions every second, V would fulfill his needs. V is a playable Michael Bay movie... Quite literal though: Beautiful, but horrible movie wise.

Well if you actually finished it you'd realise a lot of the things learned at the start do come in handy later on. I suppose herding cattle, breaking horses etc isn't everyone''s cup of tea, but these missions don't take up the first 3 hours. That's an exaggeration and you know it.

It doesn't take that long until the first shootout with Marshall Johnson really.

Rdr wins story, i play gta for the story but this one was no where need good and i have been playing gta since gta 2, the characters feels lifeless i mean if amyone has played the last of us then the story dlc should be like that where you feel attatched and close to the characters , like YOU are the characters.

Are people really arguing over gore in both games? That said, RDR did indeed have some great looking gore with blood splats, puddles and head wounds and whatnot. Gore in the last-gen version of GTA V was a joke, I can agree on that. I do think it's vastly better in the next-gen version though. Not as good as RDR, but improved nevertheless.

Rockstar games looked so much better on 360 for last gen with the exception of V. IV looked and ran much better on 360 as well.
