RDR versus GTAV

Not to forget the birds flying above killed people and foxes eating dead people after you killed em. And some random guy blowing his head off because his wife died. Lol at GTAV only having 2 random events: money-transporter and guy stealing money. (and they arent even really random)

Oh and not to forget Red Dead Redemption had many interiors.

No one forces you to play GTA.

If you don't like it, don't play it.

If you happen to be more pleased with your highly-praised RDR, play RDR instead of GTA.

 

You seem extremely negative about any leak without having experienced anything yourself.

First of all, there really aren't that many random events in RDR. They aren't varied.

 

Second of all, more animals in the middle of nowhere is not hard to handle.

 

GTA games have much more people in one place at the same time, so it has much more going on than RDR. Also, there aren't a lot of buildings or objects in the desert of New Austin.

Its a damn next gen game every shadow should be sharp. What the hell?! You guys are trying to make everything okay. Its not just the shadows. That shadows in RDR were better.

But it is still a re-release, not built from the ground up on current gen.

 

RDR had almost nothing going on the majority of the time too. Apart from the small towns, the ranches. It's not the same game.

 

 

RDR has random events going on all the time. Many animals and birds. The vegetaion actually moves...

 

The vegetation moves in the ps4 version. It's not going to be like red dead.

 

red dead had way more going on than GTAV though

yeah i like GTAV. But at this point you are right ... why not overall random sidemissions? i also hate that most of the side missions are only for one time. so there are not really random, just triggered in free roam ... thats sad , more randomness pls !!! i like the idea with the police barricade in sandy shores for example ... But if its done , its gone

Well yeah as it does in RDR, which is years older and on an 8 year old console. And it still has sharper shadows/better blood/knife blood/more animals/more things going on.

 

The notion that there is more going on in Red Dead Redemption than in GTAV is laughable, to say the least. I think you aren't quite aware of why RDR may be better in some areas. Firstly, shadows are not necessarily sharper in Read Dead, and even if they are, there is one thing that makes them entirely different from the shadows we have in games like GTA IV and V: they are not dynamic. If my memory serves me right, the shadows don't move when you're looking at them. It isn't so noticeable because let's be honest, who stands there for a longer period of time to see if they are moving.

 

You may have a point with better blood and gore effects, though. However, you shouldn't make up your mind until you've played the game yourself. A stream is not really the best source to judge a game.

One thing I will mention is that the story in Red Dead Redemption is some of the BEST writing I've seen in a video game in a long time. I'm always going back to play the story.

 

As for GTA V, yeah, it could've been better (story) but it's still a very good game. I enjoy em both

The Randoms in GTA V were awesome but you could really only do them once.. which was a bit of a downer.. I wish they add a crap ton more of these and make them repeat over time.

I just want to say that I love RDR and can't wait for the sequel. I just don't understand how can you compare the two games. Both games are developed by R* and both are open world, but GTA5 has more things that needs to render and plus its a bigger world so yeah there is going to be some compromises.

Man, RDR was so fun back in the day. Crazy to think that it's a 4 year old game now but it still looks and plays really good.

 

Well, not multiplayer... Sadly, it's a broken steam of crap. It was legendary back in 2010-2013

I've seen that shadow pop too. It seems to happen on certain curved surfaces.

 

Comparison to rdr is ridiculous. Those shadows weren't even half this resolution and flickered all over the place. It didn't make the game any less of a classic though...maybe a lesson there? I don't know because I'm too busy counting the cars and grassblades.

Both are great games and both do things better than the other.

 

I played RDR the other day after a long absence and had a blast. It truly does have a better, more detailed landscape, but what really makes it even better looking is the lighting and sky details. I love just looking up at the sky in all types of weather, at all times of day. There's such a variety of what you'll see. Sunrises and sunsets alone are awe-inspiring. I love the wilderness and nature in real life, and what that game brings is so much better than any other game.

 

GTA, on the other hand can lead to hours and hours of fun. The random events in RDR help extend playing time and help keep it interesting but after a while you just have to put the controller down. Jets, helicopters, fast cars, bicycles, and the other variety of vehicles in GTA help to keep it entertaining. Robbing stores, parachuting, & offroading also do the game a lot of good. Sure, even that can get repetitive after awhile, but for me it tends to give me a longer playing time than RDR.

 

RDR has beautifully designed towns. Particularly Armadillo and the two large towns in Mexico. Peds do things. They don't just drive or walk, they have chores. Blacksmiths work, men chop wood, women also have their chores. You can see people playing fetch with dogs. Sheriffs watch over the town and the sheriff stays in his own town and when you leave and return he still exists. In GTA , peds seems to be nothing more than robots. The majority of them drive, walk, and stand. Not to mention the story was better.

 

It would be impossible for me to decide which game I like better.
