Rural safehouse interior: a lot of mysteries and non-senses. Why?

Hi guys!

First of all, I don't want to trash-talk about the Rockstar designer of the interior, because I'm sure he did something logical. However, what he/she did is not logical to me. That's because I wrote "non-sense".

I don't get the point of the rural safehouse interior.

I mean...I know that the GTA series are focused on stereotypes. But the house doesn't even look like the stereotyped building owned by rural people. It doesn't even look a low-class safehouse. It looks like a tramp-occupied house. On the contrary, most times the connected exterior looks very good.

1) The structure seems abandoned since a lot of years (maybe decades): damaged ceiling and walls, dirty curtains and horrible windows. Also, the living-room carpet seems like a carpet that someone left near the street for years.

2) The entrance hallway is completely empty. There's absolutely nothing: no pots, no cabinets, no pictures, no carpets...in poor words, nothing. Every real/fictional house-room is filled with something...this one is not.

3) The bathroom is located inside of the bedroom (and that's really really strange). Also, the bathroom is only formed by extremely old-dirty sink and toilet. Where could a person wash his/her own body?

4) Also, I don't get the point of the design part: for example, the tv table is actually located in the kitchen-area, and it's very far away from the living-area. An other example: the bedroom is only formed by a bed (the bed is missing a lot of parts and only features a mattress) and things like night tables and wardrobes are missing.

What's the point of this interior?

Please let's talk about that, because I can't really get the point.

I asked some persons I know...but they simply answered me "it's only a game".

Yes, it's only a game, but everything should have a sense.

Cheap House (should be 3-5000$).

Rural shanty people clean up in the creek, once or at most twice a year. Unless they are Sunday go to Meeting Religious.

What gets me is the TARDIS interiors.

Rurals live in the kitchen, so the TV would be there.

Beds are to sleep in not entertain the neighbourhood.

Poor people don't buy a lot of stuff.

What is missing is the Vegetable Garden, outside. And overflowing trash buckets inside.

Some rurals did not have wooden floors until the fifties, and I imagine there are some outbackers that might not have them today. I remember that rich rurals had linoleum floors in the forties.

Thanks for your reply! I didn't even know some of the things you told me!

However, there are three things I still continue to not understand:

1) That's true, poor people don't buy a lot of things...but the entrance hallway is completely empty. They didn't even put a very-old carpet...

2) So, was the rural bathroom located inside of the bedroom? At least here in Europe each house had a toilet just outside in the wilderness. More modern houses started to have their own bathroom (literally, a stand-alone room)

3) Why did they build THAT kind of interior for THAT kind of exterior?

I mean...let's have a look to the countryside towns (expecially Palomino Creek, Dillimore and Fort Carson).

Even if they are way too small, they are absolutely clean, modern - maybe not too much modern but neither old - and beautiful (of course, their citizens are not...because they are stereotyped persons).

The interior we are questioning about might fit the Tierra Robada safehouse. But not the other ones.

That's why, with the help of the Map Editor, I created a revamp for the interior (I don't want to promote it in here, because that's not the correct section and because I don't want to spam): in my opinion, 99% of times this kind of interior doesn't really fit the house exterior.

Palamino Creek, Dilimore, etc are big cities to rural folk.

Inside Toilets were originally considered to be a filthy idea. It took YEARs before an inside plumbing was considered. Outhouses and cesspits were easy to build, now we have septic tanks and septic fields.

Bathing was in a washtub or fancy bath with no plumbing, sometimes using horse troughs.

As far as the game should be considered to save memory the use of a Generic Interior was the key to a smaller sized game.
