No hood cam?

Thanks to all the people who have commented over at the Rockstar forums or voted on the thread there, it's a 'trending' thread now, so maybe, just maybe it will get tracction.

 

I don't wanna let this go - the only way I'm enjoying this game is with motorbikes, it's really taken a lot out of it for me. Fingers crossed.

especially in the jet. the cockpit view is blocking the most important view to the ground! bad move of rockstar. i was enjoying firstperson since 2013 while flying and now its gone and replaced with half a screen of cockpit.

 

 

i want:

 

- a fully customizable view angle, distance/angle/hight (with3 presets)
i'd like a dashboard cam, a hood cam, a "from the back of the car" cam (like in the movie, password:swordfish, when the two protags drive in his sportcar away from the club(?))

 

- an option where i can choose which view types are active in the cycle (when going thorugh them with select)

I am coming to terms with this on the driving front.. Infact, if I am honest, as I play more, I think that I actually used to play the PS3 version "3rd person" so its not as big a deal as I first thought FOR ME!!

 

BUT.. For flying this is a real nightmare.. I havn't even got in a plane in the PS4 version yet.. But I know that having the cockpit block the best part of the view (the ground) is going to ruin the experience.. 3rd person doesn't give any real sense when flying.. And a cock-pit view, whilst nice for some application is not going to be the same as the old FPV.. And I would give anything to get that view back.

I really hope that RS are paying attention and do something.. its not like its going to big a big or difficult thing to introduce!!

I still have my fingers crossed.. But considering that Need For Speed never got its "bumper" cam raised (it was far too low to be of any use) and Just Cause never got a 3rd person view.. I have my doubts that anything will change.. But I am happy for RS to prove me wrong!

About that "Cop Cam" thing. That was in the cenimatic (Can't spell, sorry.) view. Sometimes it'd show a cop's car. THing was I don't think that's a hood cam perspective, it seems more "Shifted Foward" to view your vehicle. Sometimes it'd be a POV cam sort of "Under" the police helicopter if one is in the chase. Not sure if it was carried over to nextgen. Would be interesting if it was a "Cop's eye view" showing the cop giving chase from cockpit view, etc. Sadly if that was in it'd be impossible to really see where your vehicle is going.

Is anyone here a hardcore Rockstar guru? Big follower of the series? or huge fan in general? What about moderators??

 

I want to know if I'm wasting my time trying to get this patched back in or not? Does Rockstar have a history of responding to these things or fixing things people ask for?

I know they add missions or update missions, re-balance sh*t for GTA:Online and stuff but like a camera view? am I just kidding myself here?

 

Should I give up? I feel like I've been ripped off at this point but I need to know if I should just finish the SP and sell the game (I won't be playing GTA:Online without that fixed hood cam)

Anyone got an ideas if this is all a waste of effort?

I will miss hood cam. I was quite attached to it in last gen on my Xbox 360.

 

And there is definitely control differences in first person versus third/hood cam. It has to do with them restricting the speed of the hands turning the wheel. In third/hood cam there is no restrictions so it's as fast as you can spam the joysticks. In first person it is slower so it doesn't look bad but it makes steering feel like it has input lag.

I thought the car handling might be similar but the animation is behind and people just kinda deal with it? I dunno

I tell you, my GTA:O Feltzer is REALLY fun, exciting, cool to drive on the PS3 - I love that car, I love the handling. I love the NOISE because it's muffled when you're inside the car.

 

I can drive much better on the PS3 than the PS4, despite a lower frame rate and resolution? WTF

Several NeoGAF posters are claiming there's input lag in general? I'm..... thinking it could at least be a possibility yeah

I'm posting all across the internet (or having others do it for me) - yeah maybe I'm being pedantic or assburgerish but when you've dropped 300+ hours into the last gen GTA's and specifically loved the world they created and navigating it in a car, it's a shame to see them f*ck it up.

I suspect the problem isn't as simple as just patching it back (ok it actually is, but...) they've gone and implimented a new control system, slightly and there were caveats in the old system where you wouldn't get "FPS" (hood) view when you had the bonnet scoop (bug catcher) on the front, as the camera sat directly where that is.

The control system may need some interesting re-configuration / menu options to add it back, since they want the UI to be logical / settings menu logical and easy. Fingers crossed they still consider it.

also "enjoy 1st person" no - I don't that's the f*cking problem you wally. It's lame/annoying and not actually better, that's WHY we're in this damned thread, because we had "first person" long before all you people new to it, we got used to driving that way for years. They added a sh*tty version of first person and we're meant to enjoy it? No - f*ck that

I own TWO copies of GTAV and I've "upgraded" to PS4 - yet it's inferior for driving? f*ck that sh*t, sorry but f*ckit. Not happy.

I really miss the "hood cam". It's how I've been driving in GTA (and all other games that have cars) for years and it's something that needs to be brought back. How hard is it to add a simple camera view anyways???

It'll come back, it's my mission, don't worry - with your help it'll be back.

I'm still kind of surprised actually how FEW people are angry about it - especially flying / trick people and super high end car driving people - much better than me (only rank 57)

Not sure why they'd remove this.. I loved going into hood cam and turning the camera around so I can see both the protagonist and the person in the passenger seat talk, but with first person I can only see the passenger.

YES!

I've been trying to make a video of this, I think a lot of people never knew it existed

ALL the single player missions, with multiple characters in the car - they acted out their emotions visually, it was pretty cool, hand waving, mouth moving, head turning etc - people are missing out on this.

When you were a passenger on a mission, switch to hood cam, then reverse the view and you see it - a fantastic detail added by Rockstar and omitted thanks to the new cam.

 

Also of note, when you looked into the rear view mirror while also in reverse view mode of hood cam, the character would look up into the rearview.

Wish I had some of this on video - you should consider posting in the Rockstar thread about it being missing.

Not at all, we want both in there, one to keep the new FPS fans happy, one to keep the original fans happy.

Furthermore, I suspect most of the people in this thread never asked for the new view. I knew from the first screenshot it wasn't for me.
