Rockteur
...So, not only this 1.18 update is scrambling licence plates, but it's also vanishing the hood camera, huh? BTW, Rockteur, are you sure your car doesn't have a blower showing over the bonnet? I tested it out on a Blista as well as a Feltzer. I could switch between the 3rd person angles, and the car interior, but not a hood cam. I tried racing in the car interior mode, it was crashtastic. I'm playing the game, and personally I'm not having a problem with it. I don't think it's reasonable to expect to get a full 129600 degree view of the environment when you're sitting inside a car. The idea is to make it more realistic, giving you a view of actually driving a car. Not looking through a magical invisible camera on a two foot tripod welded to the hood. jweaver
It gone sadly, after 13yrs...the funny thing is you can also turn off the two remaining 3rd-Person cam modes and it will just be one 3rd-Person and the full-fledged First-Person view.q How do you disable 2 of the 3rd Person views? i am also annoyed by the lack of tye bomnet view as the cockpit view is annoying.. but atlest if i could toggle between 1st and 3rd person, it woupd help rather than having to cycle through 4 views! The FOV is infact basically the same from PS3 to PS4, the difference is the car interior rendered over t he top. The hood cam isn't explicitly showing more FOV - iit's just so badly constrained on PS4 it's an utter asshole to drive.

gta-man22
Rockstar needs to re-add this or let us adjust the height of the FPV inside cars, on some cars its so low you can barely see the damn road. Druffmaul
It's definitely worse on certain cars. I'd rather they bump up the POV in the cockpit to fix that rather than bring back the old on the hood cam. Rockteur

Druffmaul
It's definitely worse on certain cars. I'd rather they bump up the POV in the cockpit to fix that rather than bring back the old on the hood cam. Why not both? Because if they improve the cockpit cam then theoretically there would be no reason for the hood cam to come back. I wasn't kidding when I said the hood cam was merely a poor substitute for the cockpit cam. They would have done a cockpit cam from day 1 of GTA 3 if the technology would have allowed for it. It was always about avoiding the extra processing necessary to render the vehicle interior. That's finally not an issue. The idea I don't like is that instead of improving the cockpit cam, they just bring the sh*tty hood cam back.

a egg
I'm so disappointed by this. I've no problem with the in-car view and will use it often but to leave out the hood cam is just baffling, and I would love to know Rockstar's reason for its omission. One of my favourite things to do in V is just fly around this amazing game world in first-person with nothing on screen to get in the way. Now the only first-person view available in car or aircraft has half of the view obscured. I've played last gen V solidly for a year and I would say that 75% of my driving was done using hood cam view. Really hope enough people complain about this for it to be patched in at some point but I won't hold my breath. abrasion
Druffmaul
After spending more time with the game last night, I think those jpegs the guy posted earlier are bulls***. The only time I get a view like that is when the car is damaged and deformed. Otherwise I always get a good clear view of the road, even going up hill. Nothing wrong with penalizing the player for trashing their car.

streetx1xracer
Never used the hood cam on previous gta 5. It was just too shakey and bouncy. And they are using the cockpit view for immersion like you'd get irl. When Driving a car irl, not all of them will give you full on view of what's under your feet. This ...I could agree more with this,i personally dont like the hood cam, great to see it gone for a Full-Fedge FPV (but lol the people complaining about it can always go back to last-gen) i think Future GTAs onward will (should) have the new FPV introduced in the next-gen versions of V but still optional. killahmatic
Am I the only one that will miss this? Yeah, had I owned the new gen I would miss it. I get why people like first person view (though don't agree with it), but its so hard to see. Everything is blocking your view. hood cam at least gives an open view, even though it still gives you a smaller vision field. abrasion

In real life your eyes have nearly 180' FOV and you sit much closer to the steering wheel, the FPV camera is simply leaning far, far, far too far back in the chair. I don't want my view constricted by the dash. I am probably not going to play GTA:O anymore due to this change, I'll finish SP but the game just isn't the same anymore - the only good vehicle to drive now is the motorbikes and f*ck those pieces of sh*t.
