Negativity Regarding The New Release

I'm not quite sure I understand a lot of posts on this forum. There are people nitpicking the smallest things, and when they get proven wrong they just find something else to complain about. So let's clear something up:

 

This is NOT a new game. This is a re-release. An upgrade. This isn't GTA VI. Rockstar has put more work into this release than any other remaster to date, and yet you're still whining and begging for more. Don't be so entitled. FPS mode, new interiors (supposedly), the insane amount of graphical improvements, and new cars and weapons. What exactly did you expect, a new map? Brand new AI? An entirely new game? This entitled attitude and incessant negativity coming from a GTA fan forum is just depressing. Why won't you just focus on all the new, interesting features instead of complaining? Admittedly Rockstar has done some not-so-great things and made some downright awful choices, but that doesn't mean they're the worst dev ever, like you seem to believe. Just try to be a little more positive, enjoy the new things instead of whining. You'll find that this release is pretty great for what it is.

We live in a world where no one is happy and no one wants to be happy. People have a bad attitude about everything. They trash anything they can and anyone with opinions and preferences that they don't agree with. The weird thing is, it never used to be this way. Games would come out and people would either like them and play them or not like them and move on. There was no aggression or anything like that.

That right there is the issue. People speculate so much, and they speculate the most inane things, and they start to belive things that weren't even said in the first place! They're setting themselves up for disappointment and then they blame Rockstar.

Ok heres the deal... a lot of people saw the potential of the map on the ps3 version... but the ps3 was limited... so when they found out it was coming to the ps4... the possibilities seemed ENDLESS. I myself was excited.. the One and the ps4 are way more powerful than the previous generation.

 

Its like having a rich dad and only getting a tooth brush for Christmas. People are expecting them to utilize that power of the current generation.

 

Anddddd with a beautiful world like GTA 5.. we can only hope they have.

I've never complained about GTAV or Rockstar. But I've got about 10 screen shots that PROVE the traffic density is so so so so low. And ped

I'm fairly happy with what I've seen/know so far, and I'll be glued to my PS4 on Tuesday, but the overall sticking point for those who complain seems to be a fairly valid one.

This is a full price re-release of a game on the next generation of consoles - better textures/lighting etc should be a given. If the dev publicly said that the previous incarnation pushed the old gen to its limits, people will naturally expect that performance related issues would be fixed with a re release.

While I agree that so far there seems to be a sh*tload of new content, people are entitled to expect a vast improvement over the previous release if the full price is to be justified.

There is a lot of negativity but there is also hope and expectation that this game is going to meet the very high standards we anticipate.

 

I would be disappointed, for instance, to find frequently repeating vehicles in traffic, no wildlife in Online or no option to enter Fleeca banks or fast food restaurants. That might turn out to still be the case. It wouldn't be calamitous and ruin the game for me but it would not reach my (very high) expectations. On a forum, people should be urged to discuss these hopes - albeit, not so critically all the time!

 

But don't despair too much. All polls (on GTA resources, such as the 5000+ votes on the public gtav.net poll) suggest that only a fraction of us GTA fans - less than 10% of people - will not be upgrading to GTA V on next-gen or PC.

 

So basically, negativity can be high, expectations are sky high - but almost all will (re-)buy!

People expected the intricacy of a fully fledged racing sim, or competitive shooter. They wanted more interiors, denser traffic, gang wars and vigilante missions. All of these are superfluous in my opinion. I personally wouldn't derive much amusement from either of said features. The refinements of the core mechanics are sufficient for me.

The problem is that some people build this game up to crazy proportions in their mind, and when they see sh*tty footage they go ape sh*t. Yeah I like to imagine the perfect gta game in my mind, but it's not going to happen and I know that. But there are a lot of people who do have legitimate reasons to be frustrated. But regardless of what other people think, I still think that the game is going to be worth it to me. If they don't like it they can still get a refund, unless they pre ordered online.

I think a lot of it comes from impatience. R* is teasing us with a game we already played but has new content. Okay, GTA V is really nothing special anymore. You don't have to keep offering us trailers but instead maybe for once in GTA's existence give us an actual gameplay preview. I'm sitting here waiting for some solid leaked gameplay to show up so I can see if this game is truly worth buying again and what has been shown isn't pushing me to get a PS4, Xbox One, or a new PC to play this supposed better version. I'm not saying that the new version of GTA V isn't going to be as well-received as the original but what I'm saying is that giving us a little bit here and a little bit there doesn't motivate people like me to jump up and grab this new version.
