I stopped playing the game around March as I sold my PS3 and got a PS4 instead, that is why.

"With the new Mental State stat, we are keeping track of your behavior. If you seem to enjoy attacking pedestrians and terrorizing other players, then your blip will start to turn red on other players’ maps. The redder the blip, the more psychotic the player; the whiter the blip, the friendlier they are.

The actions you take will have varying effects on your Mental State. For example, killing another player will turn your blip red faster than blowing up a car or taking out a random pedestrian. Killing a player with a white blip will push your Mental State into the red faster than killing more psycho players, while taking out full-on psycho players won’t cause your own Mental State stat to increase at all.

Mental state also factors into matchmaking - you’ll automatically join Freemode sessions containing people more ‘compatible’ with your play style, and if a red-blipped lunatic does enter your session, you at least have fair warning!"

To me, it's one of the most useless features of GTAO. I remember the first week everyone getting the vapors (myself included) about it. After a week or so I completely forgot about it, save for the occasional reminder every time I left a pile of dead NPCs in my wake. I still get my $2000 a day for being a "Good Sport" and kill NPCs with impunity. I would venture a guess that most regular players couldn't give less of a sh*t about it nowadays.

I get a mental state reminder, yet remain unconvinced that it's a bad thing to turn around and punch out an npc who randomly says "your big ass bumped into ME princess!" to my female character. That npc even reminded me of a female Devon Weston.

They say that a certain type of ape is going to evolve into what will be called a "man" one day. Sounds like nonsense to me!

As long as you're not acting like Trevor every in-game second, you're probably fine, and will (on occasion) pocket $2,000. R* just doesn't want anyone else competing with their favorite psychopath.

"I have discovered"

"Here check it out"

You're on a forum dedicated to gta. Chances of you discovering is slim to none. At least google it before proclaiming you discovered it.

Bad sport / good sport is a totally different thing. Your mental state can be red and you can still be a good sport.

Mental state was implemented to let people know if you're likely to shoot them on sight or not. It goes from white to red depending on how you play. Myn usually stays pink and that pretty much means that I sometimes go on a rampage. It's not a sure sign but it does give you an idea. I try to stay away from new whites and red blips as both are likely to shoot you dead on sight.
