Anyone else feels GTAO ruined all other games?

No, GTAO made me appreciate GTA IV even more.

I've not been monogamous but I've always gone back to it. Sometimes I've not touched it for a month (GTAO that is) but then I've been on every day for the next month. It's a great game and I'm sure it's the game I've played the most in my life.

 

I'm 31 by the way, I'm surprised there's so many on here north of 30. I hope to be still gaming when I'm 80.

Can't say that it has necessarily ruined my desire for other games but imo there just isn't anything out to draw my attention away from GTA yet. I think im gonna either stick with xbox which ive done since '04 & get the XBONE or return back to playstation(50/50)which i haven't been with since the first one. Oh boy do i feel like Lebron(with mu hairline in tact)right now, decisions decisions.

Lol that hairline hasn't been legit intact since elementary school.

I don't feel GTAO ruined other games, but R* games made other games less fun for me. I only own a handful of games though. All but one is a R* game. I also wasn't interested in games until I was an adult.

I got sleeping dogs, hitman trilogy, That latest hitman, that metal gear solid trilogy hd, still sitting in wrap from last year. This whole year game purchases have been zero in this house

Not really an old-man problem, I'm 22 years old, atleast 15 of these years spent playing games like Chrono Trigger, Driver(whole series except San Francisco), Gran Turismo(whole series), Final Fantasy(only the NES and SNES), Street Fighter(SF:3rd Strike holds a special place in my heart along with SF:2), Crash Bandicoot(until Crash Bash), many old school FPS(Duke Nukem, Quake, Wolfstein) and of course, the whole GTA series.

Yet, after playing GTA:O for the first time, all the other games in my shelf are collecting dust, even Gran Turismo 5(whom Polyphony cold bloodely shut down it's online servers last year). I just can't play anything else, it feels weird, probally because GTA:O offers everything I look for in games: Freedom, driving, shooting, flying, and random stuff to do. So I can never get bored with this game.

Maybe. I am 38 and it's all I play.Certainly not! Im 28 and GTA is all i play as well. Besides about a week of TLOU when i got my PS4 & only because i hadnt played it yet. Was a great game though.

 

I just love the possibilities that GTA brings to the table. Nothing beats the open-world sandbox that it provides. I still enjoy other genres of games, but nothing encapsulates me quite like a GTA title. Its been that way ever since i played the original on PC.

as of lately I do find myself only playing GTA while the rest of my games gather dust because I am bored with them. However this will only last until the next new interesting game comes along. It is sad that the best games for the new consoles are just new versions of the old console games. Maybe this year we will see something amazing.

idk man. I'm starting to think we have peaked. I mean even in movies and music. It's hard to come up with an original idea.

We have peaked as far as being entertained with our technologies. Until we have full on virtual/cyber experiences it will all feel like its been done before. Because then we can experience these things our characters would go thru in true first person as wed be inside the game.

the fist fights are ok, it can get tactical, numerous punches, melee weapons with different abilities what more do we want, its a city drama not an arena combat game. whats the point of combat arenas if there is no consequence? beat me in a fist fight and i bring my crew to run you over or drive by then continue my escapade

Hand-to-hand/blade-to-blade combat is the path of the warrior spirit.

 

My character is very much my avatar and as I personally am a martial artist I would like 'him' to be as well.

 

And the combat is crap.

yeh iknow, its a bit sloppy and maybe it will be tweaked in the future but really, 30 ppl all smashing the hell out of eachother will always beat the tedium of 1 on 1 martial arts for entertainment in most cases
