Anyone else feels GTAO ruined all other games?

It has for me. Any game I play the same thing always happens. I relapse and go right back to GTAO. It's like a bad habit I can't kick.

I certainly do enjoy it though.

Wow, so many old people in here! I'm 37 and have been playing games since I can't even remember. My first ever gaming experience was H.E.R.O., I think on C64 and Pong on a dedicated Pong console. I have played on nearly every console since then and owned almost all of them. I prefer my games long and hard, with some real substance to them. Legend of Mana, FF12, Skyrim... As far as GTA goes, one of my greatest memories must be exploring the countryside in GTA:SA, cruising into the sunset with Big Log on the radio... I remember thinking 'man, they totally need to make this multiplayer!'. Then GTA:IV came out and it had multiplayer! I have never been more disappointed in a game, ever. That one did everything wrong (opinion, not fact).

For all its flaws GTA:O is everything I ever wanted in a game. It allows me to collect stuff, satisfying the packrat in me. That for one thing sets it apart from every other online game out there. It has been practically the only game I've been playing since it came out, every evening when the rest of the family has hit the sack. A good dram, something to snack on and gta. Next gen will only heighten the immersion and as such will keep me quite occupied for a good while yet.

Up till now the only game that kept me online for this long was Halo (the first one). That was also a quite astonishing game.

Why are you surprised at all the adults playing video games?

After all it's not like the video game industry and its graphics are still the same from the 1980's.

That's like asking a 50 year old if he still listens to music. That hip 50 year old might say, "it took me time to learn how to work my MP3, but it sure beats the days of carrying all my cassette tapes on me."

For some of us....this is the best way to illustrate why we will never stop playing video games....

I wouldn't say it ruined other games for me but the fact that i still get the urge to play it almost daily more than a year after launch is pretty amazing

In the future there will be no more games, ONLY gta with all other games implemented inside the gta world!

And heists won't be out yet.

The only other game I can play that's not made by R* that I can really get into is battlefield.

Agreed; or (back in the day) maybe Team Fortress 2...few games keep me coming back for more, but GTAO is definitely one of them. IMHO only three things can make a game last: implementation, variety of gameplay, and meticulous long-term support.

I'm not surprised at all, it was just like 'hey that's nice, other old people' and not so much 'OMG old people WTF!'. I read somewhere the average gamer is 30+ years old iirc...

It really depends on what other game you are trying to play.

I got Destiny because i wanted the White PS4.

The game socially sucks balls. Its like playing GTA in an invite only session. And you can only invite your friend into it if you were friend already.

The "lobby" is just a list of names where nobody can talk. And barely anyone joins or invites other people to groups.

While GTA you have a choice of being able to hear people or ignore them. In Destiny unless they are on your pre-made team. You don't hear anything in Player vs Player action. You can't even talk to random teammates.

And what i miss the most. Is being able to walk up to a friend and smack the crap out of them.

I'm starting to turn into a casual gamer slowly (don't blame me, gaming since 'bout 4, 29 now). I play GTA because everyday something random can happen, and I can play how I want. Like today I was in passive making npcs chase me by bumping into them. Then some guy lands in a helicopter next to my car, and the npc decides to pull him out of it and forgets about me. As the player flies up out of the screen, him and the npc drop back in screen....along with the helicopter dropping onto my car as I stood watching, killing me and my car :)

I do get bored and play other games (played Assassins Creed 1-3 and Brotherhood solid. Thought it was all flash until I tried it. Great story), but I just mainly play GTA or Xbox Indies now.

Agree with most of you. Always come back, only Skyrim, Hitman series, and Max Payne 3 have held my attention long enough to not throw gta back in.

It incorporates so much of all games, like an all in one(not master of all) Incidentally 30+ years on this guy here.

Maybe it's an old man problem ? I'm over 30 and this game is the only thing I've played since it came out.

Maybe. I am 38 and it's all I play.
that's what I'm saying. I think people in there 30s remember playing old school games on atari and nes. Cats like us can appreciate gta and don't get bent out of shape cause heist haven't come out yet.
True. I tend to focus on all GTAO let's me do.
Ditto. Ive been playing games since 83 and gta online (the entire gta series) is by far my favorite game. The only other games that come close are Skyrim (elder scrolls really), RDR, and Gran Turismo.... and gta online is a wonderfully well thought out addition to console gaming (combining all of my favorite elements of the aforementioned games).

I enjoyed the saints row games and sleeping dogs, but it was all just passing time until gta online appeared.

I think I need to join a fellow old-balls crew who appreciate the game as I do...

we should start an oldtimers league right here lolIm down. :)

You two can add me if you like. Going to PS4 in 2 days. Selling my PS3. I am bullittblitz on PSN.

As much as I love Grand Theft Auto, it can't be the only game to play. I'm a gamer at heart and, while my respect for Rockstar is almost unparalleled by other devs, it's impossible for me to ignore the myriad of other wonderful games.

That said, I'm an extremely hardcore gamer. I'm talking 50+ hours a week.

My old roommate was your regular 9 to 5 guy with a girlfriend and a busy social life and so, having little gaming time, he'd never play anything except GTA. It's all a matter of perspective I suppose!

I'm a one game, or two at most, type of gamer. I play almost exclusively GTA5/GTAO, and when I need a break, MLB The Show..Both awesome games...When I get a PS4 this holiday (hint to the miss's) Those are the only two games I'll have for the foreseeable future.

It's cool to see all the fellow old heads who feel like I do. This is really the only game I've played in the last year. I played the Destiny beta but it just wasn't enough game to make me buy the full version. I also played The Show '14 for a week or two but the online is the worst I've ever seen, I still play Fight Night Champion when I'm too drunk to play GTA. But it's pretty much just GTA.

I'm not 100% sure that it's GTA's greatness that keeps me away from other games though. I think this has just been a really slow year in general and GTA is just the best game out. When something comes along that is better I'll move along too. I am looking forward to H1Z1 and I think that will definitely dethrone GTA as my everyday game.

as of lately I do find myself only playing GTA while the rest of my games gather dust because I am bored with them. However this will only last until the next new interesting game comes along. It is sad that the best games for the new consoles are just new versions of the old console games. Maybe this year we will see something amazing.

idk man. I'm starting to think we have peaked. I mean even in movies and music. It's hard to come up with an original idea.

Same. Locked in until another mmofps comes out like MAG. I would trade every second of GTA for just one more domination match.
