Anyone else feels GTAO ruined all other games?

since GTA:O, I mean the beta stuff that was praised to be the game of games, lost its touch, I started to look for other games and realized there's plenty of games who got their own charme. nothing to be compared with GTA:O but definitely worth spending time on.

The truth is Rockstar makes the best games. Red Dead Redemption is probably the only other game that can truly rival GTA.

I've been playing games for 37 years, basically the entire history of gaming. Ive played or tested at least 10,000 games and I can tell you that very few of those stand out like gta v online. As to the question, yes its ruined all other games for me too at the moment. Apart from a few racing sims I haven't played anything else this year. The only thing I would play over gta v online (if I had a pc) would be Elite Dangerous.

 

It seems like only us oldies have the experience to note something very special when we see it.

GTA eventually got boring for me just like any other game. I'll come back to it every now and again for a few hours, but not like in the beginning, where I played every day. Still enjoying many other games that came out before and after GTA. GTA was good, but not the king of it all. Online mode needs many, many, improvements. We'll see how the next gen versions fares.

GTAO will get knocked off its throne for me when the Bioware titles for next gen start rolling in. Inquisition is already gonna steal a huge chunk of play time and when ME4 its lights out GTAO for awhile.

I remember playing who framed Roger rabbit on the nes wanting it to be more. There wasn't many open world games back then. Even when gta gets something wrong they still get it right Imo Edited November 14, 2014 by Two gun

Ditto. Ive been playing games since 83 and gta online (the entire gta series) is by far my favorite game. The only other games that come close are Skyrim (elder scrolls really), RDR, and Gran Turismo.... and gta online is a wonderfully well thought out addition to console gaming (combining all of my favorite elements of the aforementioned games).

 

I enjoyed the saints row games and sleeping dogs, but it was all just passing time until gta online appeared.

 

I think I need to join a fellow old-balls crew who appreciate the game as I do...

34 here, its all I play too. I have a coupla ps4 games that I haven't finnished because of GTA.

 

I love the FarCry series, if the 4th one doesn't live up to its' hype then I fear I'll be stuck with GTA until volume 6 comes out on PS5 LOL.

For awhile it did, but after we started getting sh*t updates I stopped enjoying it/playing it.

 

On the other hand, I haven't stopped playing Minecraft since 2011 so gg R*.

I too am a 30+ years gamer, and it's not been out of my console since I bought it, with over 55 days play time. I played Killzone Shadow Fall for 2 nights when I got my PS4, but then straight back to GTA.

 

I don't think it's ruined me for other games though. It's just really, really, really got my attention. I will tire of it one day, and then I'll buy something else.

Wow, so many old people in here! I'm 37 and have been playing games since I can't even remember. My first ever gaming experience was H.E.R.O., I think on C64 and Pong on a dedicated Pong console. I have played on nearly every console since then and owned almost all of them. I prefer my games long and hard, with some real substance to them. Legend of Mana, FF12, Skyrim... As far as GTA goes, one of my greatest memories must be exploring the countryside in GTA:SA, cruising into the sunset with Big Log on the radio... I remember thinking 'man, they totally need to make this multiplayer!'. Then GTA:IV came out and it had multiplayer! I have never been more disappointed in a game, ever. That one did everything wrong (opinion, not fact).

 

For all its flaws GTA:O is everything I ever wanted in a game. It allows me to collect stuff, satisfying the packrat in me. That for one thing sets it apart from every other online game out there. It has been practically the only game I've been playing since it came out, every evening when the rest of the family has hit the sack. A good dram, something to snack on and gta. Next gen will only heighten the immersion and as such will keep me quite occupied for a good while yet.

 

Up till now the only game that kept me online for this long was Halo (the first one). That was also a quite astonishing game.

This is how I KNOW i am hooked.....every year in September, i have bought the Madden. This year, I didnt even care. It came out and I didnt even bother to check out the new features and all that stuff like in previous years.

My gf even asked me, "Dont you need the Madden?" and I said, nope. I only need a DM filter. hahahaha She said, so buy one at Gamestop. lol.

 

 

When GTAV was getting a bit stale for me early this year and honestly the only reason i was bored was because i love Deathmatches and there was a terrible streak of being sent to consecutive Fight Club maps or being expected to carry truly bad DM players.

There was a time when i was carrying teammates that were going 5-kills and 30-deaths. My DM win percentage dropped something terrible through no fault of my own. So i began looking for other games which led me to Twitch and I watched all these different games, I was sure id be tempted to get a PS4 to play Destiny, but after a few days of watching the streams, i was like, seems like Destiny needs some serious commitment. So then somewhere in between all that we got the Flight School DLC and then the LTS DLC and those filled my time up since I had pretty much given up on DM's thanks to the Fight Club in Heaven maps or terrible teammate matchmaking.

Ive been without my PS3 since Sunday and although i have a PS4, I dont plan on going out and buying a game to play until Tuesday.

 

The next game I buy is going to have to be something really amazing. The only game I would play besides GTAV would be like the OUTLAST and ALIEN:ISOLATION but with like a Friday the 13th or Michael Myers chasing you in a first person horror game. Imagine if OUTLAST was about you getting away from Jason from Friday the 13th....so unless they release something with my favorite movie killers, its GTAV until my hands fall off.

GtaO is now my best sandbox, illegal races, dogfights, urban shooter, plane simulator, parachuting, golf, tenis, boat races, community, life simulator themed co-op game till the moment.

I still can play medieval games, fighting games, survival horror, and so much others.
