vanrosss101
Only thing that has slightly bothered me after watching these streams, is that it looks as if they didnt bother putting a gear shifting anamation in.. I mean I understand that its kind of small but for someone who drives stick shift everyday and for an avid forza player, that anamation was something I was hoping for. Especially out of "3,000 brand new anamations" I figured that would at least be one of them. Just trying to see how anyone else felt about that pilscy, GTA-Biker, SCOOBASTEEB and 1 other

vanrosss101
In my post I stated that I drive one everyday.. A 2002 Camaro to be exact but I just think its weird to look into the interiors, where some of the cars are clearly manuals and the characters still dont shift gears. vanrosss101
Yes, I know that the sterotype is that we are idotic morons that are incapable of engaging a clutch and manually shifting through the gears in the US but beleive it or not we drive sticks too buddy. Just thought it would have been an anamation that they would have implemented considering that when you look in 75% of cars in the game, the are sticks. I know right, I was just kidding with the stereotype - sorry for that. Not sure how difficult it'd be to include animations for that but including paddleshifters for newer high-end cars would be a slight improvement too which wouldn't be that hard to implement from my point of view. MikeyB
I expect most ARE automatic but they should show the shifting for those cars seen or known to be manual. Although in first person mode, what would happen when you are holding a gun and shooting? It would be anoying for the shooting to stop while you changed gear. Maybe that is the reason they left it out?
vanrosss101
Hah its all good ! And yea, you would feel more badass if you were banging through the gears as your getting away in a highspeed chase ! I also thought it was strange that their hands never left the steering wheel as they where crashing about thru traffic.. Im sure if you hit something at 50-60+ mph, you're hands arent going to stay glued to the steering wheel lol I expect most ARE automatic but they should show the shifting for those cars seen or known to be manual. Although in first person mode, what would happen when you are holding a gun and shooting? It would be anoying for the shooting to stop while you changed gear. Maybe that is the reason they left it out? Hmm.. Ive never thought about that.. Well, it still would have been cool to see. And immersive too, for things like cruising and such. Bishie
I could see complications arising with a gear shifting animation, largely because the player's hands will often be occupied with a weapon for drive-by shootings. One could argue that there's no animation for sounding the horn or changing the radio either. Personally, I'll be satisfied if the core mechanics are there. Gdog
it's not a racing simulation game. priority would be to use guns and not change gears. where are people complaining about the lack of seatbelts and blurry mirrors? it's not supposed to be realistic. iRacing

AscendantWyvern
It would have been a nice feature, but as others have said...the game focuses on the shooting aspect while in a car. Since you can up and downshift while firing your weapon...I can imagine the animation being...confusing...to say the least.

gta_fan28
I thought about this too, and I also like this idea especially when driving and cruising around Los Santos. It's like the game Saboteur it's also an open world world war 2 game in Paris...You can see the shifting gear animation while driving and it's nice to see that in GTAV. And since there's a dashboard view in car and fuel gauge and speedometer are functioning maybe in this version we can now see the steering wheel animation is moving now unlike the last gen version.. I got an idea how this mechanics would work in this game, how about Driving mode where there's a shifting gear animation but you cannot shoot while in the car, only your friend can shoot while with you. Drive by mode where you can shoot while in the car but there is no steering animation..
Algonquin Assassin
I don't see the point of a gear shifting animation when there's no option for a manual gearbox. What interests me is if the wind screen wipers actually work in the rain. MrGrandis, Raynos, PreciousWall and 1 other
Rerxelend
I'm extremely disappointed that there's no gear shifting animation. But what I am wondering is, do the people who say "It's set in the US so most of the vehicles must be auto", even have any idea of how a car works? An automatic transmission, surprise surprise, still has a gear stick. You still need to move the gear stick to put it into different gears, such as Park, Drive, Neutral, and Reverse. pariah87
Another thing I noticed too is he puts his hands on the steering wheel right away and the door just closes automatically. Hold_My_Beer
SCOOBASTEEB
I noticed this too and it kinda grated me. Fair enough most might be auto's, but you still have to change it for reverse. It's not a huge deal as the two hands on the wheel already looks better than watchdogs attempt, but i think it would have been a nice touch
Wylight
I'm more bothered by the steering wheels put up in all sort of positions. Too low, to the left or right, or just about in front of the f*cking dials. I knew this FPS mode was not exactly 100% perfect and fledged out. Assifuah
I've noticed no shifting animations. However, even if it's based in the US... how come you can clutch kick. Come on. Shift anims would be cool but just because it's based in the US doesn't mean it shouldn't be inlcuded.
