Current Gen transfer info thread!

A thread to post all info known about previous/current gen transferring within GTA: Online!

 

 

I was told in an email recently that you will NOT be able to transfer from an old PSN/XB account to a new PSN/XB account, only within accounts or across platform accounts, but, then saw on R* support that we WILL be able to do it. So there's no official answer on that STILL..

Ok. suppose player 1 on xbox has the same gamertag as a ps3 player 2. Not unlikely, Now both want to transfer to PS4, clearly they will have to accommodate this.

Meaning I'd have to go back to my old PSN name and pay another $50 for PS+ on a sub account to transfer my info.

One nice thing about going from 360 to XB1. I simply logged into the new console with the same account i have on 360. Now both consoles use the same account and you can be logged into both at the same time.

Xbox isn't same as PS3 .

Xbox 360 use XUID .

She didn't say that you can't transfer your past gen gamer-tag account linked to the social club onto a new gamer tag on the next gen systems.

 

I wish there was more clarification on this. I hope that they'll allow us to transfer our old gamer tag I.D's on PS3/XB to accommodate a new online I.D username instead of the old ones we have that are linked to the social club.

One nice thing about going from 360 to XB1. I simply logged into the new console with the same account i have on 360. Now both consoles use the same account and you can be logged into both at the same time.

I played the Xbox 360 version for a few weeks, but haven't since, will everything transfer to the Xbox One version, like money, stats and missions completed etc...?

The information is NOT stored on your console it is stored on R*s cloud servers and in their systems. I currently have my account linked to a PSN and an Xbox Live, but I have switched which PSN it is linked to many times before, mostly for exploits but it is certainly possible."

 

Unless I am mistaken also, I agree with him that this should be a viable work around for changing accounts.

I don't see why you shouldn't be allowed to move from PS3 to XBone or X360 to PS4. Surely X360 and PS3 are going to both be able to transfer to PC, so it seems redundant not to let platforms cross transfer.

well obviously, that part is confirmed. Otherwise there would be no need to ever mention anything about transferring progression across, since it'd be easiest to say "everythings gets wiped, end of story"

 

CVG also confirmed via Rockstar, that you can still play online on an old console after switchover.

You can essentially progress your character on 2 platforms. Single player stats of course don't crossover.

 

So that's good news.

I asked support the same question and got the stock response, so I shoved that screenshot in their face and asked if I needed to contact the other support rep to get an actual answer. They called it leaked information and said that there was no official response, yet.

 

Take that as you will, but to me he was saying "That's what's gonna happen, but I can't confirm it officially".

 

Either way, their intentions and what actually happens are very unlikely to align 100%.

You just have to link your Social Club with the last-gen account you're currently using, and link your Social Club with the next-gen account you're going to use and you're all set.

 

Also,

You just have to link your Social Club with the last-gen account you're currently using, and link your Social Club with the next-gen account you're going to use and you're all set.
