PS3 GTAV Bundle, how to connect to DVI only monitor and have sound ?

Ok, last year just before the game was released I got the bundled up PS3 that came with a 500GB HD and GTAV, I love this PS3 but now I want to hook it to a spare LCD monitor that is lying around, only downside is it doesn't have HDMI on it, only a DVI and a VGA are available. The problem is that PS3 doesn't have any audio cables on it, only a Optical audio which I have no compatible system for, a HDMI and a RJ45 network connector on it, I also spotted a strange looking connector that I'm not sure what is supposed to be connected there, Now I know what you'll say, plug it onto your 37" Viewsonic HDTV which has HDMI, well that's where it is actually and I don't like it, I got some bad refresh rates issues that hurt my eyes so much when playing that I can't stand to play for more than 15 minutes, I'm sure its related to the fact that this TV is from 2007 and has strange probably too old HDMI ports on it.

 

Now I just hooked up the PS3 to a HDMI/DVI adapter I have here, it works fine, but I don't get any sound from it (the monitor doesn't have speakers either so that wouldn't even work I know this) now the question, what kind of cable do I need to get audio out of this PS3 onto a set of PC speakers I have lying also next to the monitor. I triple checked and there's nothing in the box left so no special cable of any kind to hook it up. Is this bundle only made for HDMI devices owners and I got screwed up or there's something that I can find somewhere for cheap to solve this issue.
