Algonquin Assassin
I have many diecast models, but this was my very first. My parents bought it for me in 1994 when I was 8 since I was crazy about Herbie back then. I'm pretty sure it was about $300 AUD which by today's standards is a lot of money for a diecast model and some of my newer ones haven't been that expensive, but back in 1994 I must've been a special child to justify that much for a diecast VW Beetle. Any more pics of the Toyota off road truck? What brand is it? Not really a Toyota fan but it would be cool to have a die cast of a truck like that. geraldflesy

unbid
So, no love for Matchbox? It's better than Hotwheels in terms of detail. owl-man
owl-man
Don't have them yet, but I've tracked down the first editions of Evil Twin, Hyperliner, Maelstrom and more. Also might be getting Highway 35 Twin Mill. I'll follow up to this post IF I get them.
*MURDOC*
It's better than Hotwheels in terms of detail. That's not really true, they both have their ups and downs, some Matchbox cars are very basic, and some Hotwheels cars are very detailed. A lot of times, it depends on when the model was designed, since both companies still use designs from the 1970's and such. Scale is usually a factor too in both brands. It's funny how massive my classic Mini looks next to an Olds 442.
Flachbau
I used to dislike as a young enthusiast how HW cars never had painted head or tail lights. It seems like both HW and Matchbox both do it now? Edited October 3, 2015 by Android
*MURDOC*
I always painted my own on when I was a kid. They both do and don't, depends on the model. I'm not sure how the do itt, but some of the headlights/taillights and badges/decal details are actually pretty f*cking impressive on the new cars. ItsTyrex
Hi I never built model kit before and i want to build one with my dad. Which one should i buy? Moth
I used to dislike as a young enthusiast how HW cars never had painted head or tail lights. It seems like both HW and Matchbox both do it now? Well, they are own both by Mattel now. Most of the Matchboxes I see seem to be f*cking construction equipment or rescue stuff.(real and imaginary). Hot Wheels on the other hand, focuses on everything.(from Toilet Cars to helicopters and hot rod tanks.Along with stock or modified versions of real cars.) Flachbau
Yep, that's why I always loved to get Matchbox cars instead. HW had the occasional "realistic" car, but it wasn't as realistic as a Matchbox car.. it'd be tricked out with vinyls, decals, rims, and a body kit or two. owl-man
Just some of my older Hotwheels cars, always preferred Hotwheels because of cars like Fish'd and chip'd. My phone has the worst focus ever. I also had a turquoise one of these. http://i.imgur.com/qFazkXM.jpgMy mother decided to put this one in a box with all the others and it got chipped, really pissed about that since it's a Highway 35 one: No f*cking idea where Slingshot, the Plymouth Roadrunner and 60's Corvette are. Edit: New arrivals! First edition Surfin School Bus First edition (Right) and Wastelanders (Left) Sooo Fast: Evil Twin is on it's way! Other edit: Finally finished the VW: Gonna make another one with cartoonish proportions as a ute with a chop top and either a wooden bed lining or a big f*ckin engine in the tray. K1FFLOM
I like (and have) the Fish'd and Chip'd Jaguar too. The chaps at HotWheels are awesome too, to come up with those ridiculous names in the first place, LoL. Edited October 25, 2015 by K1FFLOM
Flachbau
Damn.. those older Hot Wheels packages really made me feel nostalgic for a bit, there.. B7R
Here's my small Diecast car collection, sadly falling apart due to it's age Red London routemaster bus (I got this from my cousin when she went over to the UK when i was little, I don't really know why it's missing the rubber tires sadly) London Taxi Cab (sadly falling apart too due to it's age) It's only dusty because I've had this one packed away in a box for a while and it hasn't seen the light in ages. Afra Romeo 156 (Don't know where I got this from or how I ended up with it so I can't really explain much about it) Flachbau and *MURDOC*

owl-man
My mildly worn out Highway 35 cars: Slingshot: Corvette: Plymouth Roadrunner: Is there anywhere I could go to have them restored? Other random cars: Thinking of taking those FE cars out of their packaging for some photos and then resealing them, would that be a good idea?
