howdy yall, i have missed out on the decent quality streams so was wondering if anyone who seen em could answer a simple question for me? are the mirrors useable in first person mode? Trying to research it i, i have seen folk saying both yes and no so i am curious. Thanks a million!

They definitely look like they work in the first person trailer. They were a bit pixely for me but that's probably only because my internet can't play videos in a higher quality than 360p.

Judging by the FPS trailer, no. It shows a general reflection of the scenery behind you. But not a perfect mirror image. It didn't seem to reflect the cop cars on the road. Just the road itself & surroundings.

As others stated the streams I've seen lately the mirrors definitely work, just barely and they do not show the cars or other vehicles behind you... which is a difficult detail to add to a game I'm assuming. They'd have to create it for every car and vehicle with mirrors. It'll make things difficult merging in traffic or backing up but what can you do eh.

No. They do not work. You can see this in the "First Person Mode Trailer"

When franklin drives his motorbike at the end of the trailer during the rainy nighttime, the mirrors on the bike he's riding on show absolutely no sign of realtime reflective properties. Therefore.. no... absolutely no reflection. Only reflective light surfaces similar to that of the paint on the vehicle itself.

That sucks. I was hoping to actually be able to back up the big rigs in first person mode this time around. Kinda hard when you can't see the trailer, guess that role play is down the drain :/

Guess so, I hope we can at least see inside the sleepers on the Phantom and Packer now. In last gen it was just black behind the seats, didn't even have a door outline to access the sleeper.

Heh, that was my concern as well! It was a bit disappointing to see that didn't work. BUT since the mirrors slightly work you still may be able to see enough to back it up, just hope there's no cars behind you or PEDs. Like you said though disappointing but not game breaking.

Cutter De Blanc

Spot trailer
Drive rig in front of trailer
Keep backing into it until the motherf*cker catches
Drive away with stolen goods

Who knows? they MIGHT let us see the trailer in the mirrors, seeing as it's a longer lasting thing than other cars since it's actually attached to your vehicle. Not gonna get my hopes up but a man can dream XD

They had functioning mirrors back in 2007 as seen in IV's second trailer, so I'm amazed they still can't do it today with these new consoles.

Officer Ronson

If you people didn't know NPC glasses can actually reflect in real time, although they don't feature any props.

Probably too much to ask in GTA, because you're basically rendering two or three extra cameras per vehicle. Low settings and res, but still.

Dude probably off topic but give Euro Truck Simulator 2 a try if your into rigs then I think you can dig it.

So, no real-time reflections for car reflections then? Such as seeing your player's reflection on the cars or other car reflections on the cars?

At least there's real-time shadows, finally. Even the first Saint's Row had that sh*t, and I was pretty upset when IV didn't offer it.

The mirrors don't really function, it looks like the chrome option for cars. It's just a very general reflection with heavy stretched distortion to it.

I actually have 18 Wheels of Steel, basically the American version of Euro Truck Simulator(as far as I know). Problem is my computer is pretty sh*tty and it doesn't like playing games other than internet flash games, haha.

You can look back, so it's not really a problem.

It is a problem, FPS in vehicles without working mirrors is half assed. Many people (including me) expected proper working things like mirrors for neat drive purposes and RP'ing.

Sure, i can look back without using mirrors but it is not handy as mirrors and it kind of kills the realism.

Sigh, it waited for this so hard. Driving like in IRL, RP'ing to the max...

What do you expect when the new consoles come out with already old hardware? This is why I'm holding out for PC, and why I will be getting SLI GTX-970's.

I would say the mirrors kind of looks like PS3's car reflections, it reflects the static objects around you but not the dynamic ones, and the image is a bit blurry.

A bit? It is blurry lol. Guess PC will have it, but this time i keep my expectation: 0000000000.

Come on man, I agree mirrors would be cool (and probably essential for morpheus :O) but you'll be RPing with your controller using your thumb to accelerate and no control over gears,it's not really a gamebreaker- it was never going to be like driving irl.

I do admit that it sounds silly to be upset over such thing. But damn man... i dreamed (not literally) to drive certain vehicles in the game IFP in a working way. It is a bit depressing to drive IFP and when you see the mirrors they are not functioning. FP feels broke to me.

I am not techy enough to know if it from the console or the game itself, but this is a let down for drivers like me.
