Bishie
The first person trailer confirmed the inclusion of iron sights for the weapons, but I've yet to see them used in any of the live footage, screenshots etc. I'm particularly concerned about the pistols, since I've only witnessed firing from the hip, and a moderate amount of zoom. Can anyone confirm that we can aim directly down the sights of pistols in particular? I'm dreading another STALKER: Clear Sky situation.

They showed that you could aim down the sights of the stun gun. I would assume that they would add this to all pistols and just haven't shown it. Just the few streamers I've seen were complete noobs to the game and had no idea what button to press. Check out the Reddit page that's posted leaks and there's a screenshot of the ADS with the pistol so we can definitely do it. I'm assuming you press another button other than just R2. Possible Hold R2 and click R3 or something. Or double tap R2 kinda like double clicking the right mouse button to ADS in DayZ. Do not post leaked media, please. Bishie
That image depicts a moderate level of zoom and nothing more. You can quite clearly tell the weapon is angled slightly to the left, and not aiming directly down the sights as suggested. It should be central: Edited November 14, 2014 by Bishie
TheMisanthrope
Ah, now that you say something and I get a better look you're right my bad. I know it's in there though, there's hip-firing, ready stance and ADS. Strange to add all three but like I said ADS must be another button or an option in the pause menu somewhere... we shall see I wouldn't fret it though the stun gun alone basically confirms that all pistols will have it. And if not.... that's just really f*cking stupid.
einjzmolf
I hope this doesn't count as 'leaked media' as it is from an official trailer: Taken from leadbelly on NeoGAF. If you can do it on the Carbine Rifle, you can do it on everything. It would be absolutely stupid of them to do otherwise. Alec Skorpio
Clearly they look down the sights of the Stun Gun. Why would they do this for this gun and not any of the other pistols.Look, I get why you're worried. I was worried too after seeing some leaked stuff showcasing the pistol. But if you look closely there are clearly three types of aiming in first person. Hip fire, a slightly zoomed hip fire (I'm kind of assuming this is auto aim or what happens when you sprint and aim) and then down the sights. The people that have been playing haven't been doing it right, that's all. Bishie and TheMisanthrope

But it's like I stated and the other guy as well did, if the stun gun(you can call it a handgun technically) has ADS why would the pistols not have it as well? Why I say that is the people we've been seeing leaking it is only hip firing and using the ready stance like in the FP trailer with Franklin. He hip firs first, uses the ready stance then aims down the sights last. So that alone confirmed there's three options to choose from. I'm willing to bet there is ADS with handguns if I'm wrong I'll surely be pissed off as well. The noobs that have their hands on the game doesn't have me worried they haven't toyed around with the gunplay mechanics in FP enough yet. Shade04rek
Lol I wouldn't put it pass r* to do something weird and completely unlogical for one small aspect of the overall feature. It's happened with silent weapons and the useless sneak walking. with the games inability to allow one to be stealthy outside of certain missions, those features are broken and pointless. Nick930930
Are people actually strongly considering using the First Person mode for infantry combat? I mean cmon... that will put you at an extreme disadvantage. I'm intersted in jumping into first person mode just for shi*s and giggles.. like when I ride a bike down Mount Chiliad or want to see something cool up close on my screen. But there's no way the combat will be as fluid in first person as it is in 3rd person. It's a game designed specifically for 3rd person combat. The first person mode "looks" cool, but chances are it'll never play as nicely as the 3rd person.

The level of zoom is much improved, you don't have to toggle the camera and your character to correctly position yourself and shoot, It'll keep your focus on your target, sweep and clear baby! I'll probably be capable of playing much better in first person than I would in third as far as accuracy comes. Now of course you have limited vision since you cannot pan around your surroundings. But that is the point it gives you more of a challenge and... I hate using this term but makes it more "realistic". As a person who doesn't really care all that much for FP games I am still more than likely going to use it in GTA more so than third person because of how well they created it. Assuming by the looks of it and what I've seen. But maybe not i'll wait until I play it myself. However to answer your question yes, I am planning on using FP for "infantry combat" for my first couple of playthroughs. To each their own but the disadvantage is welcomed from me I like a challenge. Edited November 14, 2014 by TheMisanthrope Jimmarn

I think I'm going to play through the whole game in first person for a fresh experience. Gta in first person! I never saw that coming, until the rumors started surfacing that is. Only part i probably won't status in fp, will be driving. We'll see. TheMisanthrope
theworldfamous
Keep in mind there's extra control settings for first person. You CAN SET it to be exactly like a first person shooter. I can imagine that if you don't, and use the standard controls you either don't have a iron sights or it's something awkward like clicking R3. I hope it allows entirely different settings for both modes. It's great that you can switch with the touch of a button but if you have to go back into the menu to adjust your controls all the time it'll get old really fast. Oh yeah, I'm gonna play everything in first person. The added challenge is kind of the point. V was never particularly hard for me.
