I'm sitting here, thinking about how awesome tearing through the streets and highways of LS at 150mph+, watching the speedo inch closer to the redline with 29 other people would be and then it hits me:

f*cking noobs.

Ramming and pitting is bad enough in 3rd person, but at least you can see it coming and brace yourself. 1st person; not a chance in close on racing at corners and in narrow sections.

I really hope R* automatically makes races default to non-contact once the lobby reaches over 12-15 people, similar to how Forza 4 would turn off cosmetic damage after 8 or more people were in the lobby.

Just a bit worried that I may have to permanently join a racing crew just to enjoy racing all over again.

OR, and this is just a thought... you could play a different game. Don't like the way a game is made? Play something else. People have been doing that for years. I know I have. When I play a game and don't like it, I play a different game.

YAY!

I3 processors are ok, i guess it's your weak video card.

No,The problem is that this laptop is not mine,Its actually from my Lucky Brother who got it from a lottery,It had Windows 7,It runned Fine,With maxframes it runned in like 50 - 60 fps most of the time,Then my brother upgraded to Windows 8 and then TF2 Runned in 20 - 30. Even with maxframes.

I kept begging to my brother to change it back to W7 Becuase,Like i said before,My Brother owns this laptop,But he said not.

BTW I was about to join my first competitive team at that time it was a bit more frustrating

And thats why i have a PS3.

So its not really the processors fault,Its Windows 8 fault.

You could ask him to have a dual-boot system.

Are you sure TF2 still runs badly in Windows 8?

Can't say first person will be the problem in your scenario.

30 player races are going to suck...HARD.

I hate to break this to you, but GTA is not a "Gentleman's Sport". People want it to be so many different things, and then get disappointed when it isn't. It is what it is. Either enjoy it for that, or get a game more suited to your requirements.

Not a "Gentleman's Sport", then explain why you get Bad Sport points for being a legit griefer ( you don't cheat). I'm talking about people that just kill other people in free roaming and destroy their precious personal vehicles.

Crashes will probably increase when driving 1st person. Everything feels faster, you can't see cars next to you. I think I'll stick to 3rd Person View most of the time, but 1st person could be very intense and fun. I'll try it out

Yes it will be very annoying at times. I have turned the game off more than once due to atrocious racers.

Would a collision penalty to the race payment work, you think? It wouldnt have to be much but just enough to work towards adjusting the general mentality.

Players ALWAYS go for the PIT anyway. If anything, first person will decrease this because they can't perform the PIT with as much precision as with third person, or they don't even see you at all. But definitely more inadvertent crashes

I've been wondering the same thing.

16 people was bad enough, and now they've nearly doubled that and I doubt the roads are any wider.

30 player super car destruction derby

with RAMPS!

PC modders might make that between 60 to possibly the hundreds. The utter chaos that will ensue...

Do the mirrors work? If so I'd be more worried about re-learning the speed due to different amounts of motion blur.

Did you mean to answer your own question? That's proof that it's not a gentleman's sport. Please, for the love of all that is sane, tell me you're not suggesting otherwise.

I would say generally that people who are focused entirely on pitting and ramming probably aren't very good racers, if they were then they wouldn't need to do it to win.

I would also say that racers who have spent a lot of time over the years racing in first person are probably more skilled with better spatial awareness and able to drive with reduced visibility, so hopefully these more experienced racers are less inclined to race destruction derby style.

So it might not be too bad in first person. I also think it would be harder to PIT, at least for people not used to first person. 30 player contact races will be apocalyptic madness but when there's a smaller numbers of racers there might actually be less shenanigans than in third person.

my advice is to avoid the terrible drivers or races altogether and go play Forza (oh wait, the drivatars still smash you like 5 year olds)

Its no avoiding it.

f*ck, why did Project CARS have to get pushed back?

I need my racing fix.

are you one of those people who can drive so well that you are practically guarenteed a victory if you dont hit anyone? only to have it dashed to finishing second AT BEST because you were pitted out on the first turn?

you arent alone.

ive won every single non contact race ive ever had the pleasure of doing.

but i find it impossible to win contact races simply because people dont know how to race. i know its gta, but still, if you wanna hit stuff, thats what freeroam or gta races is for. if you wanna "race" race, one should learn to "race" race.

Why do you think that doesn't matter if people are "bad sports" in races and does matter if they are bad sports because they kill and destroy personal vehicles of other players in free roaming? Rockstar should punish bad sport racers too or don't punish people for killing and destroying personal vehicles of other people in free roaming: it's called coherence. Then, if you think that you should not get bad sport for killing and destroying PVs in free roaming either, you are coherent for me, ok? "Because GTA is not a Gentleman sport".

I don't know why Rockstar implemented the bad sport system. We could sit here and opinionate on that all day and still not know the answer. To say that having such a system for one things means that they should have it for another is also just an opinion. I don't care about the bad sport system, and it has nothing to do with my original post about the *fact* that this is not a "Gentleman's Sport". It is a computer game where we can do whatever we like. If anyone has a problem with that then they're playing the game wrong, or they're playing the wrong game. It is what it is.

PS: Non contact races are sh*t.

I don't have the game yet, but i can tell you that in real life all races are "non contact" races, otherwise you probably get disqualified and ruin your own race if you touch another vehicle...

So i understand why some people prefer non contact races: they want to avoid non sporty players.

You mean all legitimate and regulated racing right?

Because what we are doing on gta is illegal criminal street racing. Akin to fast and furious movies.

This is why I only race with contact and prefer to have traffic on, to simulate an illegal street race.

This is not real life. And there is nothing wrong with contact races when the people racing are not immature 10 year olds. I've never had any issues with contact races when people are respectable and don't treat this like dirt track racing at the local fair.

You both have a valid point, they are separate though.

To bring them together, it would be nice to see a (perhaps optional) 'bad sport' penalty system for poor racing - the only thing I can think of is monitoring collisions and 'fining' players from their race winnings at the end.
