PS+ is seriously one of the best investments I've made in video games ever. It's f*cking sweet. 16 gb left of a 640gb hdd.

Well that is spectacular. Do you finish all your games? Most games I get like midway through and get bored and go back to COD or gta.

Also I spent $174 on a new Scuf controller (Damn you rising USD) and they are taking a long time to make it, it's been 8 business days now, and they quote 3-6, and it hasn't even been shipped yet!

I emailed support, no response as of yet, I did only send it yesterday.

Nah man, I don't have that much free time. When I do, it's usually in pockets, so hard to enjoy a game. I'm still trying to get through Kingdom of Amular :p level 3 after 4 months lol

Are those scuf controller really worth it? They honestly look like scams.

Also I always wanted to know why did you change your name to that?

They're only worthwhile for Call of duty which you don't like, I'm just tired of people panic knifing me, Panicking and having their controller set up so the analog stick down is knife, I play so R3 is to crouch and lie down, and my scuf let's me knife with the extra button, and jump, just makes for a less frustrating experience. Mlg players use them.

Well I've got a PS3 now so I have a couple questions:

There are a bunch of games listed as free for PS+ users. When do they expire? Or do they at all? I only ask because those on 360 are only available for a limited time.

Is it normal for the vents in the back to be hot? Have tried cleaning it and leavin lots of room and propping it up off my desk and running a fan beside it and unplugging it when it's off but it still gets hot. Not so bad with mgs4 but with Asura's Wrath and RDR it seems to get much hotter.

Something else I've noticed is the disc drive makes noise frequently when playing RDR. Don't know if it's the disc itself or the fact I haven't installed it(don't know how) but it just doesn't seem to run very smoothly compared to the 360 version - granted I had that downloaded.

^ It depends on which continent you live. EU,Japan,Asian countries, PS+ games stay for the whole month (1-31). But if you live US, one game will be offered for the first 15 days and the second game for the rest (16-31).(Don't know about Middle East/Africa)

Once you download your game, it will stay forever in the "Download list" (As long as you are PS+ Member). You can delete and re download the game as many times as you want.

If your PS3 operating temperature remains below 70c, it should be fine.

Anyone got Minecraft?

I've played a bit on my mates xbox, it's great fun, annoying if you're used to playing on pc where the game can already be tedious at times.

I prefer watching mine craft to playing strangely

If you have a lot of friends that play it with you, it will be really good, I might buy it If my other friends buy it aswell.

do yourself a favor and download everything on the instant Game Collection, or just cancel it so it shows up as purchased. The games are spread out throughout the month, just follow the PS blog and it'll tell you when games are entering and leaving the rotation. And I don't think it should get hot. The games expire when your membership is up, it will be unlocked when you renew.

Can anyone recommend a really good PS3 controller that allows to remap the keys, while maintaining all the DS functionality (sixaxis, wireless) and doesn't have any real drawbacks?

My problem with DS is that using the L1/R1 keys for prolonged time give me serious cramps. It actually seriously hurts after a while and that really isn't a way to enjoy the game. At first I thought that only PS3 exclusives require to use R1 for shooting etc., but I just got AC4 (and skull edition to boot) and was horrified to find that it's using the same system which can't be changed. I just can't play it this way. I want bang my head on the desk knowing there are these perfectly fine L2/R2 wasted on something retarded like reload while I'm supposed to twist and bend my hand to use R1 just to run or shoot. F**k that. I already have a nice case of carpal tunnel from using the mouse all day.

But I like the DS overall, especially because it's small and ilght and the 'squishy' buttons suit me fine. So anyone knows of any PS3 controller that doesn't suck completely and allows to remap R1/L1 to R2/L2?

Anyone who'll point me to a good solution is my savior.

Edit - Oh come on mods, seriously? Merge a plea for help into a topic with 329 pages? What chance do I have to get an answer here after the topic gets a few more posts? Alright, I'll go ask my question on the official PS forums so I can be called names for not worshipping the DualShock... :(

I can't seem to find how to delete the title updates on my games, i want to delete the patches for Mass Effect 3, i do what everyone does (Game>Game Data Utility>Delete Game content) but when i open the Game Data Utility folder there's nothing related to updates or DLCs, all files "weight" between 20- 90 KB.

Also if it helps all my games are digital, the only disc game i have is Skyrim, y'know, because i couldn't find it digital in PS Store (lol), oh and i got Mass Effect 3 from a Game Pack of all the three games, in fact, i think i posted somewhere here like a month ago if you guys would recommend the pack and i got very positive comments about the trilogy.

Edit: I just found out that all my disc games have install files that seem to have the title updates on them, i used to have The Last of Us (sold it) and BO2 (i borrowed it) on disc and they have install files too, please tell me these aren't bad news.

Probably the first of its kind on a console.

Didn't take too long. I might do the whole game.

I got this in the mail. It's a prototype developer PS3.
I was extremely lucky to get this on ebay before they were swiftly removed.

Gnocchi Flip Flops

Now, I've had my slim PS3 since 2010. We had a fat one that died after a power surge and had to wait until July to receive our new one. It's been smooth sailing up until last month. I started to notice the fan blowing a little harder than usual. Like, really hard. I gave it a dust and it never did it again but it was still worrying.

Well, a couple of weeks ago I turned my PS3 off before going to bed and turned it on the next morning. It beeped like normal, but then it beeped again. I did not hold the power button, in fact I was walking away as it did that so I was puzzled. It wanted me to redo my HDMI settings and I had to re-select my wallpaper background as it had turned to green by itself. It was then that I started noticing a drop in framerate.

Most of the time I play GTA IV on PS3 and I know that game is not the smoothest. But the drop in framerate has been incredibly noticeable. Now it's not like terrible but it's hard to unsee once you first notice it. At first I figured it was just the game. But then I loaded up GTA V yesterday and the framerate was just as bad. What is going on? I mean, the sound is still accurate and all of the menus and everything else seems to be as smooth as warm butter. But as soon as you play a game and start moving around/have a lot of stuff on screen, it starts to stutter just a little.

Is this an HDMI issue? Or is it a sign of a hard drive failure in the not so far future? If the latter is likely, how do I backup everything? Because I don't want to lose 6 years of data.

It just seems odd. After only 6 years of playing mainly GTA IV, the system is going to fail on me? Are these things just poorly made?

I would try using a different HDMI cable and see if that resolves the problem, although framerate drops still sound concerning. Assuming you've had the PS3 since 2010, hard drive failure sounds plausible.

I'm not familiar with the PS3's data management system, but you should be able to copy save games and profile data to a USB flash drive and transfer it to a new drive. If the problem persists even after switching the cable, I'd suggest getting a new hard drive for the PS3 and backing up any data as soon as possible. Typically when a drive fails, the early warning signs will be distinct clicking, grinding, and screeching sounds, although this isn't the case all the time.

^ Thanks for the help. I'll try out a new HDMI the next time I play as I've got a ton. One thing is for sure, I haven't heard anything but the fan. No clicking, no screeching.
