This popped up on my PS3 last night "the PS3 system has been disconnected from the media server"

It's the first time i've ever seen it, everything seems to be ok with my PS3 i looked at the network settings on my PS3 a few minutes ago and everything seems to be ok, nothing out of the ordinary there.

Anyone know what causes this to happen?

Okay, it means literally nothing, It happens to me every single time I use my PS3, it's to do with PS3/computer sharing. When it says it's disconnected, it means it has disconnected from windows media player/ the thing in the PS3 that connects to WMP has turned itself off.

Don't even worry about it in the slightest, it's totally and utterly irrelevant unless you're sharing files wirelessly between PC and PS3.

Thanks for the quick reply, i don't share files wirelessly between my PS3 and PC, i no longer have a PC it got the blue screen of death over a year ago and i didn't bother getting it repaired, i replaced it with a laptop.

Thanks again. Have a cookie cookie.gif

Can you play PS2 games on the PS3? And will PS3 games be able to be played on PS4? I'm thinking about selling my Xbox to buy a PS3 and then getting a PS4 when it comes out. And this is the main thing that will determine if I can do it. If I will be able to play my PS3 games on PS4 then It will make sense for me to do it. If not then I will just keep my Xbox.

The current PS3 Super Slim / regular Slim is not able to play PS2 games.

The old Phat 60GB model was, but that was way back when PS3 launched in 2006.

PS4 will not be playing your PS3 games, but you will be able to re-buy them and play them trough the new Streaming Service.

There are lots of good PS2 HD remakes on the market today, availible for the PS3! You should check some of them out.

Recommend, Jak And Daxter at least wink.gif

Yeah I looked that up. That's super stupid that there's no backwards compatibility at all. So that makes it less likely I will buy one. But I still might.

Not sure if this merited a new topic, but the EU and AU PSN stores have some ridiculous deals going at the moment. GTV IV complete with the original and both expansion packs for £12.99/AU$ 24.99 (plus another 10% off for PS+ users)? Vice City for 4 quid? Bloody steal if you ask me!

Also, Ni No Kuni for £20. Insane!

Be sure that you have enough HDD space! tounge2.gif

Manhunt and The Warriors coming to PSN. Manhunt comes next week, and in response to Shannon Jackson in the comment section, they confirmed The Warriors will also be coming in the future.

Link leads to official confirmation on the Rockstar Facebook.

So if I bought the Uncharted 3 bundle with the 250 GB PS3 it comes with the HDTV connectors right? Because I remember when I bought my 250 GB Xbox I got screwed by Microsoft and it's didn't come with HD connectors. If not could I just use any HDMI cable from the store?

@gtamann There's some pretty good reasons for it though, unless you want to pay $900 for the ps4 when it releases.

Also at gtamann, I dunno about the bundle in your area, but any hdmi cable will work $5 fix.

The PS3 should come with HDMI cords, mine did. icon14.gif

I have a Slim though.

Yeah that's the one I'm going to get. The bundle is a 250GB slim and comes with a copy of uncharted 3. Since its a brand new console and a premium package it should come with some sort of HD connector. I was just worried about getting screwed again.

PS3's here in England don't come with HDMI cables. At least not with any of the bundles i've ever seen from catalogues, GAME, gamestop or any other retailer.

I have the 60GB PS3 (the original "launch" version) and it didn't come with a HDMI cable.

However, times have moved on since then, and I'd guess that most houses are now using HD as standard, so I'm sure HDMI cables will soon be shipping as standard with all games consoles, if they're not already.

Here in Poland, my PS3 Super Slim also didn't come up with a HDMI cable. I guess it's a standard in most of the countries.

I just got my PS3 and I got one of those HD TV connector set ups and I plugged in all the plug ins for component. But when I turn it on the display of the console only takes up a small bit of the screen with huge (like 6 inches) black bars on the side. How do I fix this? I can't find out how

NVM I just grabbed the HDMi cable from my cable box. I'm gonna have to go to the store and pick one up for like $10 tomorrow

So I was wrong. A HDMI doesn't ship as standard yet?

Is it just me, or does anyone else find this incredible, in this day and age, where HD TV is the standard in most households?

Yeah I don't understand it either. Like 99% of people that buy PS3s have HDTVs so it only makes sense to include and HD connector

Perhaps they want to force people to buy an HDMI cable separately and they mean you to buy their original Sony one. Which doesn't make any sense, of course, because any HDMI cable can make a use and there's literally no video quality difference between a $5 plastic no name cable and a $20 original Sony gold one.

What the f*ck is with PSN and deleting messages, holy sh*t it is slow!

Today I started a match with a mate, I said "Oi i'm just going to sit in the corner, i'm deleting messages, I probably won't be finished till the end...10 minutes later, the game ends, at the exact moment it ends, all my messages are deleted bored.gif

I was joking, but it actually took that long.

Hi! So I was thinking about purchasing a PS3, however, if I register an account under US and play while in Romania, does that affect my gameplay or can I play on the internet?

Where you play has no effect on your ability to access PSN.

My account was created in the UK and works in Jamaica.

Well, I never thought I'd ever say this, but here I go.

Today I, erm...

Today, I went out, and spent £180 of my money on a pre owned 120GB PS3 Slim (middle size) and 4 games to start off with.

There you go, it's out, the Xbox fan has gone to the dark side as it were.

The 4 games: GTA IV, Dirt Showdown, GT5 and NFS The Run, all pre owned but I will be buying a new copy of GTA IV and EFLC sometime soon.

My question:

Does every game have to be downloaded onto the harddrive of the console?

All this sparked by a stupid xbox reveal confused.gif

I don't understand why they don't give them out with the consoles either, I mean I even got 1 with my Xbox 360 Elite, then I traded it in for a Slim and I didn't have to hand in the cable but I didn't get 1 with the Slim either, and now no cable with the PS3, but that's fine because I only have 1 HDMI slot on my TV so I'll have to swap anyway.

Anybody here who have played Tokyo Jungle? How long does the Story Mode take to beat? Is it any longer than 2 hours, or less?

The one mistake you made while buying a PS3 was you bought GT5. Man you made a BIG mistake. GT6 is literally coming out just after GTA V, around October/November time, with improved physics (MUCH MUCH improved), better lighting and graphics. You should have waited for a proper GT experience smile.gif Just saying. If you just got it with the 4 games for free, that's ok, i'd advice you to sell your GT5 right now (as a GT fan it's good advice) to a pre-owned shop or someone you know.

I've had my PS3 40gb for nearly 6 years now and the fan goes extremely loud after 10 minutes of use. It's blowing out cold air as well so its not like its hot in there. How do I make it quiet again?! I bought a new hard drive for it and planned on putting movies on it but theres no point as it makes too much noise and I cant hear anything properly!

I dont want to open it up because Im sure to break it, is there anything else that can be done?
