so I have a little credit and am thinking about having a look at playstation plus. they have a month on special. my question is if I join up and download some of the free downloads and then dont renew my subscription after a month do I loose the games?

Yes, any free games you DL with PS plus will be locked once your subscription expires.

Tripped over my PS3 power cable today while it was playing, the PS3 fell off the table (about 70 cm high) quite violently and the game was still running and no damage caused.

Just started playing Metal Gear Solid 2 for the first time ever after having recently finished MGS1 and it was one of the more memorable gaming experiences i've had.

 

the funny thing about me playing MGS is that i tend to completely panic when spotted by guards i'm completely lost in the map and just repeat "f*ck f*ck f*ck" until pretty much i get killed. so, it's kinda a slow process to get through the games but completely worth it.

 

and the soundtracks on these games are impeccable.

Wrong region probably, aka code is diff region then your PSN account.

Neither, why should I get props for my PS3 surviving? Props to the PS3 Yo! Yeah it's a retarded spot to have my PS3 but there's nowhere else to put it right now.

I was simply pointing out how robust my PS3 is, I was pretty surprised it was still running, as for the Xbox jibe, well I couldn't resist considering how many of my friends have f*cked up discs from moving their Xbox while playing. This is the PS3 topic anyway, of course people here are going to prefer the PS3 and think it is the better console of choice, and obviously when it comes to flying off the table, it is the better console.

Hey guys, my PS3 slim will no longer play bluray movies. It plays PS3 games perfectly fine as well as DVD's, but whenever I insert a bluray movie I can hear the disc spinning and it trying to read the disc without success. I've tested out all my movies (over 15) and none of them work.

 

What's happening to my system?

When do you guys think it's gonna be announced?

Will you cease to buy another console, switch to a different one, or stick with Playstation?

If you plan on buying it, how soon after its release will you purchase it?

 

I think It's gonna be announced between March to E3. Sony have said that they want Microsoft to unviel their hardware before they do, so this really depends on Microsoft which I don't know much about.

 

I'm still gonna be a gamer, don't see that changing. I grew up with PlayStation and can't see myself switching consoles unless Sony really f*ck up the PS4 in some way that makes it infurior to the 720, such as the inability to play used games, or an awkward controller that's touch-based, as the rumours have been saying.

 

I will probaly buy the PS4 about a year after its release for 4 simple reasons:

1. Price drop

2. New models will be released that are even better than launch models

3. Not many games will be released in its first year

4. The PS3 is still making wonderful games thanks to developers mastering its limitations and understanding how it works.

I f*cking love MGS. It's like my 2nd favourite franchise after GTA. MGS2 is a great game, MGS3 is even better imo. Have fun. I actually played MGS2 > MGS3> MGS4 > MGS1. Was weird as hell getting used to the old graphics of MGS1.

 

I bought my first PS3 the week it came out, and it survived about 2 years I think before it stopped working. Sony replaced it with a new (used) one for free though, and that worked fine for about a year when my dad knocked it off my chest of drawers (about 1m high). It still kinda played games, but made a lot of funny noises and it crashed a lot as well. That's when I got a slim, which was still fairly new to the market at the time, and I've had that one ever since.

This is a good sentiment actually, like on release the PS3 had wifi and Blu-Ray which the Xbox didn't, they caught up with a later model of course.

The guy in the video made a point though, any changes they could make probably wouldn't be large as it would be very late in the development cycle.

 

I don't think Sony are worried about losing out to M$, they finally caught up with the PS3 in sales, and probably expect the same with PS4.

I guess my date of purchase for the PS4 depends on a few factors, with hard drive size being the biggest one. My 80GB Ps3 was not enough and I had to spend a whole Saturday upgrading it (250GB now). All of my game installation data was gone, so I had to re-install all of my 24 or so games. Some of my game save data didn't make it, and is gone for good. Worst of all, I lost the other user accounts that I made of my friends to file share off them and get free games and DLC. All gone.

 

And so this time around, I will be sure to buy a higher GB model, to eliminate the need to ever do the horrible upgrade process. I can't afford 2 consoles like you

 

But you had some great reasons to stick with PS4, I hadn't really thought of those. I especially like the Playstation's analog stick configuration with its adjascent nature and size of the controller. The Xbox seems too chunky and awkward with the analog configuration.

Who remembers this 2 years ago? Well now it's been all cleared up today.

 

"The infamous global PlayStation Network breach that took place in 2011 is still living on for Sony. Today Sony Computer Entertainment Europe was fined £250,000 by the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

 

According to ICO, Sony is accountable for putting its users at risk because they failed to make sure the network was secure enough. The ICO further confirmed that if Sony’s software was up-to-date the entire hack could have been prevented, but does acknowledge that Sony was maliciously targeted.

 

“If you are responsible for so many payment card details and log-in details then keeping that personal data secure has to be your priority. In this case that just didn’t happen, and when the database was targeted – albeit in a determined criminal attack – the security measures in place were simply not good enough," says deputy commissioner and director of data protection, David Smith.

 

Although, no proof exists to show that credit card details or personal data was accessed for fraudulent use, it’s still the risk that made the ICO decide on the fine"
