Talking about Home, I got 3 PS accounts (UK, USA & Japan) pretty pissed off I needed to install Home on all three accounts, and also annoying annot use clothes I bought from the UK Home on the USA

Aren't updates mandatory? If an update screws up a few consoles, Sony usually makes it optional until they fix the problem. So if you haven't updated, you haven't lost access to the store or online.

I'm thinking of picking one up for use as my console display but am a little cautious about how well its actually going to perform.

Look online. I hear it has severe framedrops in 3D mode, making games unbearable for normal people to play.

EDIT: Okay, good news, the trophies synced. But before I go ahead and do the data transfer, I'd still like some feedback or tips to make sure everything goes smoothly.

 

EDIT2: Also, the Ethernet cable I'm using has a broken clip, but still sits right in the console, is it too dangerous to do the transfer with the clip a little loose?

Make sure to disable media server connection and your internet connection during transfer.

 

As for the ethernet cable with the broken clip, do it at your own risk. I'd suggest you to go for a new cable.

 

@Method My friend owns one and he gets screen flickering problems often. Sometimes, the screen would go black/blue for two or three seconds but the audio would still be playing.

So, yet another PS3 of mine has died...

 

2008 - Phat PS3 60GB - YLOD

2010 - Phat PS3 40GB - YLOD

2012 - Phat PS3 60GB - No Audio/Video, console freezes after start up, pad not connecting... BD Drive inserts and removes discs.

 

I guess it took the whole Doomsday thing too seriously..

Damn, if I had gotten that code I would have bought a new ps3 slim, they're only 229 with for the 12GB, my other ps3 has a 500GB which I can swap over, but 60 bucks for the plus brings it to just under.300, eh my current ps3 is still perfect.

 

@Garfield, stop buying.second hand.phat ps3's.

fat ps3s are susceptible to ylod. not as much as xbox 360 and their red ring of death. Slims hardly ever (if ever) get ylod

Just get the old slim you can get it used for cheap there isn't really a downside to it.

12gb is almost nothing today.

No.

 

Dont get the super slim. Too many issues already.

 

Also, 12 will go super fast. All PS3 games require you to install and most are 5GB or more. Think about that. You could only install 2 games. The super slim 12GB is meant more for gamers downloading minis, arcade games and older games like PS1 games from the PSstore, or playing PS1 games from disk or watching movies, etc.

 

 

Do not get the super slim. Get the Normal PS3 slim. Very reliable, no overheating issues, and 160GB hard drive model for the same price as the crap super slim 12GB model,. wink.gif

I also have a old fat 60GB. The first one broke in the summer and I received a new one in september... Guess what, that one broke 5 days ago and now my f*ckin holiday is screwed up.

Nahh Mate, you can get a 250gb hardrive for $80 in australia

 

And you can buy a 12gb superslim for $229 here, so it ends up being 300 bucks which is cheaper then anything else.

...Oh, sorry, wrong again.

 

Sony allows HDD changes without voiding the warranty. BOOM!

 

Whether you get a super-slim or not is up to you. Or just take the HDD from the old PS3 (If you have one.)
