You can download 2 out of 5 games for free from the "Welcome Back" section of the Playstation Store. You must download them by July 3rd Infamous, Little Big Planet, Dead Nation, Wipeout HD + Fury. Once you download 2 of them, you keep them forever.

 

Non Playstation Plus members can download a free 30 days of the system. You have until July 3rd to activate your 30 days. Only upon activating Playstation Plus through the "Welcome Back" section of the Playstation Store will your 30 days begin. If you don't have the gold plus sign next to your name on the friends list, you have not activated it. Once your 30 days is up, any free Playstation Plus items you have obtained during your free 30 days will be lost until you are once again subscribed to Playstation Plus. However, any items you purchased at a discounted price due to the free 30 days of Playstation Plus will be yours forever.

What exactly is a Playstation Plus account? I'm just a regular-ass member, so I'm hoping I'm still eligible for the download of two games, one of which will def be Little Big Planet but not sure about the other. any suggestions?

 

my connection isn't bad by any means, but as I'm trying to download LBP it tells me there are appx. 20,000 minutes remaining

Isn't downloading games supposed to be somewhat practical?

Hi there, once the PS store came back online I clicked the welcome back section, got that, then downloaded Infamous. Im now, a few days later trying to firstly find Ratchet and Clank ( which is ment to be 1 of the 5 and the download it. I see the little Ratchet and Clank picture on the welcome back icon when I load the ps store. But I cant for the life of me find the game or where to download it. Was I meant to download both games at once? I would of but my old 40Gb ps3 told me there wasnt enough free hard drive space, so after I downloaded Infamous I deleted any pics,music and video I had.I didnt delete anything important.

Any help would be appreciated.

under account management there's a link called services(i think) and it'll list that your a plus member and the 2 games you should have downloaded and it'll name the first and just click the 2nd one and it should bring you to the store and it will let you download your second free game

 

here's what to do:

 

XMB>PlayStation Network>Account Management>Transaction Management>Services List>SCEA Promotions

I am now addicted to inFAMOUS 2 huge step forward from the first game. If anyone is wondering what I suggest to download from the welcome back get inFAMOUS its long its fun and its a must have now with 2 (seriously having a hard time quitting it)

He's right, I knew nothing of inFAMOUS, downloaded, started it up played for a few minutes and I was hooked.

Will probably get the second game after I finish this one.

I won't spoil anything for you but just out to compare I think I'm a 4th way through the 2nd and I already feel 5x more powerful than I did at the END of the first one.

Is nobody else having trouble downloading the games? I know my connection isn't the best or anything (download speed only 1.26mb) but is it supposed to take days as it is with me?

No, took me like an hour for Infamous and like 20 mins or so for Dead Nation. I get about 20mbs. Keep in mind, they do not download while playing an online game.

Thanks for posting this. For some reason, the games within the Welcome Back section of the PlayStation Store disappeared for me, even though they were present a few hours before when I checked. I found them by using your method, so thanks again.

 

@TheCacti: I'm not quite sure what speed my internet connection is at, but it took me around 3 hours to fully download inFAMOUS and a further hour or so to actually install the game.

It's a great game to play with a friend though.

I'm talking about the XMB. Friends, music, photos, PS Store and users won't load.

I would back up anything important on some flash disk (if it is still possible) or try to connect it to pc and copy everything from HDD. Then I would try to format the HDD and restore defaults. Maybe it will help.

Infamous, to me, has been great so far. I got the demo when it was initially on PSN but it never really impressed me enough to ever want to fork out the full cash for it. I was gonna perhaps get it on the cheap eventually, but more than happy to get it for free! I'll definitely be getting the second one now, the first has impressed me that much.

 

I also got Dead Nation. It's very good. Only 10 levels but they are quite long. My only issue is that it';s probably more of a co-op game to do with a friend or online.

 

Already had Little Big Planet, and I can't recall the other two games on offer, but my tip would be Infamous.

The first inFAMOUS was so repetitive. It was fun for the first hour but after that it seemed like I was at work and not playing a game.

I can see your point. That's partly why I wasn't hugely impressed by the demo, as it made it seem like all you do is shoot electricity at the same old bad guys over and over again. Playing the game a bit more though, it does have other aspects. There are a whole array of powers you can unlock and improve with XP earned. There are side missions to win back the city. There's the whole good/bad karma that makes you a 'hero' or 'infamous' (I chose the latter, so much more fun). And there's what seems like a pretty decent story developing. I've only just unlocked the 2nd part, Warren I believe it's called, and the story is still quite cloudy but it's beginning to form into something, beginning to lead somewhere.
