This topic is to discuss the playstation 3, not to attack any other console and not to discuss trolling topics on other consoles.

 

Don't bring the 360 or wii up in here. some of you have made it quite obvious you will only ever own the ps3 and will not consider another system, don't go into the topics of the other systems.

I might be grabbing a PS3 in a month or so. Gotta get my borked 360 fixed. Once that is done, I will sell both of the 360s and buy an Elite and a PS3. It will be awesome.

I'm not sure at the moment. None of the current line up interest me, though Uncharted looks good. So that will probably be it.

can i ask, have anyone of you used your ps3's online using satellite broadband?

if so, do online gaming work alright on it?

 

 

i want to ask as sat is the only broadband i can get out here.

1. i cant get internet to work on my ps3 i plugged the modem ino it like i would a computer but it wont go online. do i have to install a program on my ps3 and how do i do that?

2.when i get my internet can i download a flash player so i can go on youtube

3.when is Hoe coming out and will it be free

Alright lads, just wondering how the PSN network compares to Xbox Live, I assume as it's free the games arent heavily supported by Sony and you have to register with every publisher / developer per game just to login online. Im not trolling live is pretty sh*t at the moment problems left right and centre, but does online play on the PSN match up?

Yeah... where did you get that from? Its a case of make a PSN account and play online with your game, no need to register with the publishers or anything.

1. No, you don't need any programs. Just go to Settings > Network Settings. You can choose between Wired or Wireless Connection (if your modem supports wireless) all you need to do is to choose automatic (easy) config. and you'll be done in seconds. It's much easier than you think.

 

2. The latest PS3 firmware upate includes a flash player, so no need to download it from the internet (actually you can't). After setting your connection, go to Settings and choose System Update to start downloading the latest firmware (you won't be able to log in to PSN and multiplayer unless you download it). It has a flash player within it, and I usually watch YouTube clips through my PS3.

 

3. Home is coming early 2008, according to Sony. And yes, it will be free.

Yeah, Uncharted is pretty sweet. There aren't any achievements, but there's a treasure/reward system that serves as a suitable substitute (lots of bonus stuff too). I don't know if you''re a big Ratchet & Clank fan, but I'd recommend it to anybody looking to see what the PS3 can do.

 

If you do manage to pick one up, be sure to check out the store. Sony has some great arcade titles on there, worth checking out.

Damn my sister is a f*ck head.

She turned the PS3 off by the back just after she pressed the off button on the front

resulting in a corrupted hard drive and losing everything, all my saves, music videos everything

 

Lets just say thank god for backups.

so if you have to move your ps3 and you press the stand by button then turn it off at the back you lose all settings

 

that is crap that didnt happen to me and i have done that twice

@ Futurama: I turned mine off from the back (with no standby) several times by mistake and nothing happened to my content and HDD.

- I think Home will be available right away on Sony's servers as you log in to PSN when it comes out.. I don't think we'll have to download it cause it will be seriously huge...

 

- Yes, you can use keyboard and mouse. Plug them, and make the neceassary config. from Settings > Accessories.

 

- Yes, you can get screens from the internet and make them wallpapers for your PS3.

You shouldn't have any problems because of just moving it, or switching it off. It's switching it off while it is writing to the drive that's a problem. Just like with the ps2 memory cards, and almost everything with a hard drive really, shutting it off while it's in the middle of writing to the disk isn't recommended, and can cause a problem. That said, I back up my saves to PC (via a usb thumbdrive) just because I can.

I just got mine and so far I've only played Motorstorm, Assassin's Creed, Blacksite, and Resistance. Really, none of them were disappointing, (though I probably wouldn't have gotten Motorstorm if it hadn't come with it) but AC and Resistance were the best by far. The splitscreen (2 players on the one machine) co-op on Resistance kicks ass.

 

Anybody know of any other PS3 games with good two player (offline) co-ops?

Warhawk - It has 4 player splitscreen online and offline. No single player campaign though.

Getting Assassin's Creed on 360. I think I will just stick to Uncharted for now and wait it out until more games come along. This is going to be a very good year for both 360 and PS3.

On newstands now, a recent review of Assassin's Creed was worse then the two I read for Uncharted at the same time, I think you made a wise choice as I did getting that game. The water effect is about as good as anyone can get water to look virtually. The swimming could be better, but I just noted there are actual fish swimming too!! Damn good stuff
