Black Ops always freezes anyway. COD screws up your PS3. Both times I got YLOD from playing COD

Both my PS3 Slim and 60GB broke down the SAME DAY. My PS3 Slim couldn't read discs and my brothers 60GB got the YLOD when starting up Black Ops.

 

I don't know if Black ops is causing problems to PS3, I do find it weird both PS3's died the same day while Black Ops was in there.

 

My fixed PS3 slim comes back to me this Friday!

The Yellow Light of Death is easy to spot. It's a f*cked up PS3, which only sight of life is a yellow light instead of red/green. It'll be easy enough to figure if you have it.

Ay just seein if anyone has a little insight to this little problem I'm having with my 120GB PS3 slim.

 

So a couple of months (2) ago I decided to play my PS3 after my little brothers session of MW2 one night.

I popped out "relatively" new copy of 2K11 and inserted the disk. I hear it go in but something was a little off.

It sounded like my PS3's drive didnt fully "catch" the disk. Along with that it was quiet enough in my room

that I could hear the disk spinning in the console.

I heard the disk literally spin,stop,spin,stop,spin MAKE AN EJECT NOISE, spin,stop.....nothing.

So just to make sure I wasnt just hearing things I took out my metrocard (magnetic end out) and

did a prodding test through the drive to feel the disk spinning, and low n' behold the sh*t was doing

exactly what I heard.

Here's the crazy part , now im not one to abuse my electronics but out of curiosity and testosterone filled anger

about my sh*t not working i did a hefty bang on the top of my PS3 to see if would work then. All of the sudden my disk is read and is fully playable. Not only that but sometimes it reads even after all of that spinning and stopping bullsh*t.

 

 

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

HOW DO I FIX IT?

Can I avoid sending it to Sony because I cant backup m my memory and Im not losing my sh*t. lol

I can't sign in at the moment, it isn't the connection. Tried that. Any help?

Sometimes I randomly can't sign in even If I have a perfect connection. Power cycle your modem, and restart your Ps3. Usually works for me.

Is cleaning and new thermal paste worth anything? My 40GB here got a YLOD a week ago and I turned it on today and it worked fine? I've played GTA IV for a while but it's very noisy. Would you say repaste and cleaning inside would cool it down a little bit?

Hi. Sorry - dumb question here but how the f*ck can I transfer MP3s to the PS3?

 

I put some on a usb stick and plugged it into the port but the PS3 is saying there's nothing on there.

 

I transferred the MP3s from a Mac, but that shouldn't make any difference, should it?

You have to go to the Music section of the XMB, scroll down to your USB and press triangle, going ''select all''. That should show everything in your USB that is music, just select copy to transfer them over.

Does the stand have all the inputs? Looks like it. How do you connect the PS3 to it? Do you have to have a cable running from the PS3 to the stand, or does it somehow connect from the bottom?

The stand isn't connected to the PS3. It has a separate power cord to charge the two controllers, and whatever peripherals you plug into the two extra USB ports. It has a hole in the middle/bottom which allows you to run the cables from the PS3 through it, and out the back.

 

Everything about it is very clever and snug. You get these little adapters you attach to your controllers so that they fit into the charging dock, and it comes with two different holders for your PS3, one for the Slim and one for the regular version, which are easily clicked into the stand.
