Pretty much when they stop producing PS2's and companies stop making games for it we will see PS2 games on PS3. But with the whole Classics HD thing probably most of them will get HD'd.

 

A HD MGS collection is wha tI'm hoping for.

I don't think there is a default, since they don't enable unless you actually set it. Did you try the obvious, like 0000 or 1234?

Right all. I'm going to confess right now I'm pretty much a new console virgin and completely clueless when it comes to modern gaming. I've played a 360 but that's only because it's my brother's got one, and I did a bit online with it. Nothing serious, I just hopped on when I could.

 

However, since getting a proper job and some decent money coming in, I've had a pang for a PS3. I've not done any background reading on them and I know very little about their capabilities, games available and so on. You might say I've been living under a rock for a good portion of the past 2 years because I wasn't even aware they'd released a slim version.

 

So, in essence, I'm after a PS3 for after Christmas when all the buying dies down. What should I look out for and can you tell me anything about the console at all that might help? Thanks.

Okay, obviously it plays games, aside from that it also plays CDs, DVDs, and Blue ray discs. I believe they all have at least 2 USB ports. Not sure about the slim, but probably 2. The playstation store allows you to purchase all sorts of downloadable things, such as; games, themes, avatars, free demos, movies, tv shows and applications. It has a web browser and built in Wifi. If you have netflix, you can watch instant movies on the PS3. If you are into social online worlds like SecondLife, the PS3 has a thing called Playstation Home which is a basic version of that in a way. Not my cup of tea, but to each their own.

 

Free online so you can create a username and play games online with friends and others around the world. There is also a optional service for around $50 a year called PlayStation Plus. This adds the optional feature to have the PS3 automatically download important updates by itself, offers you select free games, themes and avatars usually once a week, gives discounts on many games and dlc in the PS Store. Also, Playstation Move just dropped, which is pretty much the Wii on steroids. You may want to wait before getting this if at all, until some good games come out for it, unless you are into the more casual experience/have kids or whatever.

 

I would check out the Uncharted series. It is exclusive to PS3 and is a big hit with a lot of people. Probably a good starter game for people new to the PS3, looking to see what it can do. Obviously, you know what kind of games you like best, so go from there.

I need help please.

 

About a week ago I got the ylod so I took it down to a pc shop and got it fixed but now when I try to go on it the ps3 controller wont connect. I have tried resetting it, i have looked at youtube walkthroughs but I cant find the fix.

 

And help will be greatly appreciated.

HDMI pretty much IS the HD cable, but how can your HDTV not have a port for it? It seems a odd that it doesn't.

Cant component do upto 1080i? Technically making it HD?

Maybe his TV is older when HDMI wasn't the'standard'.

 

And yes you can buy Component cables for PS3 to get nice 720p/1080i picture. Either first party or third party.

Yeah I have one of the first flat screens, it came out before they started putting hdmi slots for it. And thanks, it's abit annoying that you have to pay more money for a cable because it wasnt included.

3.55 Updated the Security Information

for some users, it'll freeze because the internet setting, but that's only for the day mine did once

then I reseted my Internet information, been running smoothly

After my last post I started playing GTA and didn't get off till a few minutes ago and it never froze. It might have something to do with BO.

My Friend had the same deal with MW2. He played it on his PS3 and it broke down. So he bought a new one and then got MW2 for his laptop and that broke down while he was playing it. soo yeah.

ya i keep getting those disconnected due to transmission error and the screen changes colors and it says im lv. 7.

 

i picked up NFS Hot pursuit and skate 3 the other day both for 75 and im happy about that but my 360 isnt. lol
