My PS3Break just arrived! Time to jailbreak this biatch!

^Woohoo! It works! It's the PIC version, so at the moment it can't be updated to the latest Groove or Backup Manager (i.e. I still need any original BD-Game in the drive to play backups), but the official PS3Break site has announced they are working on software to update the PIC chips and it will be released soon. Either way, I have a PS3Key that should be here Thurs/Fri and that's fully updatable.

 

Madden NFL 11 is actually faster off my external HDD than it is from the disc! Currently I only have 2 (out of 15+ games) that have been reported as not compatible: Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing (Gamefly), and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. Other than that, it looks like everything is going to be sold/traded in!

 

Note to anybody else who ends up jailbreaking: If after you backup a game you are having trouble booting it (being told to insert the original disc; game freezing before boot) you need to delete your installed Game Data (not saves, just updates/data). This will fix the problem. Something to do with the installed game data trying to look for files on the disc drive instead of installed drive.

^^ This. its true once its yours you can do anything with it. But Sony wont like the sh*t you do with their Stuff. Sony owns the console. you just bought it from them. its about 95% yours. 5% sony's. or bigger % idk

You can't go online, that's the biggest minus. I'm not against this jailbraking piracy thing, but once they find a way to have pirates+MP, then it'd be worth it.

Uncharted 2 is easy aswell, the first is a bit more challenging.

Metal Gear is pretty good. Wipeout HD is fun. GT5 is coming soon.

 

Those are the exclusives that I've got, but I'm sure that you can get some more good advice from others...

Noby Noby Boy's Trophy's are a bitch to get. it takes awhile to get things just right.

 

another easy game is Godfather 2. i got Platinum in 8 days. Just do everything in one game.

 

Mirrors Edge is pretty Easy. the only hard ones are the Time Trial ones. but other than that it took me about a month to get platinum on that.

 

Im looking for Hannah Montanna but i cant find it anywhere! wal-mart doesnt sell it and i look everywhere. I want it. so i could say "I have Hannah montanna the game! and im proud of it!" and also i want the easy ass trophies.

 

Fallout 3 is another one that has hard trophies. because you need about 3 different playthroughs for it. one with Evil, Neutral & Good. Im only about 3 away from platinum. but ive had the game for 5 months.

 

Also Online Trophies. f*ck'em! If you have a Old game with Online Trophies. Good Luck. My opinion is. get rid of them as soon as you can. im doing that with Skate 2.

I know right? I hate trophies that require mutiplayer.

 

Killzone 2 has 84 trophies, thats like the most I've seen in a game. And one of the trophies is, during one single week, you need to be one of the top 10% of all the players during that week. say that there is 500,000 playing, you need to be ranked at least 50,000 at the end of the week. It's ridiculous.

I am pretty sure this is a form of YLOD as i have researched but its not quite the same as the other system falures i have heard of....

 

I have a 40gb ps3 but 3 months ago i bought a 320gb 2.5 sata hdd 5200 rpm and the manufacturer is WD i beleive. Today i started up red dead redemption and was playing for about 5 minutes when my ps3 suddenly beeped a few times and flashed red. it comtinued to flash red until i pressed it. I then turned my machine back on and tried to go back into red dead but it repeated itself again. i took the disc out and saved all my files to my usb stick. then i walked away for a minute, walked back and it died again. anyone got any advice?

 

things you shound also before offering advice:

-I did not see any flash of yellow

-I had only accidentally turned off my ps3 the wrong way i few times recently: once or twice when i was pissed off, once when the power went out, and once or twice when it wouldnt sense my finger for some odd reason (even though i could have turned it off using the XMB).

-when i put in the new hard drive i stripped the screwes so i had to use needle nose plyers, which did no damage to it i beleive.

@willgtavc If there's no yellow light, then it's probably just overheated and you should let it cool for a day. Get and air compressor and blow out the dust.

 

Question. If I format my Slim's HDD, will it go back to 1.00 firmware 2006? Or back to 3.00 since that's the one it started off with?

well i never tried it but since its Slim it should go to the version you bought it with. Fat ones go back to v1.00 but i would say Slim would go back to v3.00. but im not sure.

I was joking, but supposedly it's one of the easiest platinums...but then you'll forever have Hannah Montana listed in your trophy list, a mark of shame.

 

Fallout 3's trophies aren't hard, they just take a long ass time. And for the karmatic trophies, I played a 'good' character and saved at level 13 or whatever, got my good trophy and reloaded, stole and pickpocketed for the 'neutral' and 'evil' trophies, reloaded my original game and went along my way.

 

Online trophies shouldn't be required for platinum. That always bothered me.

I'd say IV's got some easy trophies, like the one where you have to fly under almost every bridge in the game, and some of the multiplayer ones don't take much effort to obtain.

I'd agree with Pip and say you're system is overheating. You say you have one of the late-fat systems (40gb). Have you ran a fan test on it? Take out any disc in the drive, turn your console off, and flip the switch on the back to off. Then take your system and hold it upside down over something you don't mind getting dust on. Then place your finger on the eject button and flip the power switch on. It should start up, run the fans really hard for a couple seconds, then beep/flash red. After this you can switch it off. After that, it should run better. If not, it's time to take some condensed air to it..

 

@Pip: As far as I know, the firmware isn't stored on the HDD. Also, it's impossible to roll-back the firmware. The only real option is to get your hands on a new system that hasn't been brought online yet (you can still find 3.10 on store shelves). I have a feeling, though, that Sony is going to start loading all new systems with 3.50, so it might be worthwhile to do this sooner rather than later. Also, there has been success with jailbreaking 3.10 and 3.15, which means OtherOS AND Jailbreaking! But things could get better for those who updated already, as the ability to load custom firmware via USB has been developed, just waiting on somebody to figure out a custom firmware option that will let users post-3.41 jailbreak their systems.

 

 

As for my own jailbreaking experiences, I'm loving it. I just got my PS3Key in the mail yesterday, and it's definitely much better than my PS3Break. The PS3Key only sticks out 2mm from the USB port when plugged in, versus the 5mm the PS3Break sticks out, plus the blue light matches the consoles lights better than the green on the PS3Break (if anybody is anal about that stuff like I am). I'm currently running the Hermes v1 payload with Backup Manager 2 and Open Manager 1.14. OM is a better interface, and I like the alphabetizing it does, but I seem to have better compatibility with no-disc in BM2 than I do with OM1.14. Mafia II, for instance, runs just fine with no disc via BM2, but freezes on boot with OM1.14. Time to load up some homebrew emus and see how those work!

Yes. and because of my Obession for her ^_^. im a 15 year old who loves Miley alot. I have all her Songs on my PS3 and i have "Photoshopped Naked Pictures of her" haha. every Trophy i get goes up on my Facebook soo yeah. I would get Lolz up the arse.

 

Also @ Geomy: I never Reload games on Fallout. i Playthrough the whole thing. but i guess we got our own ways of doing stuff. I just cant do it tho. once i start a game and choose a side. i stick with it until the end. idk why haha.

 

Also one game im playing right now "Army Of Two: The 40th Day" has some easy Trophies as well. Ive gotten about 20 trophies in 3 hours. its one of the more Easier games ive played.

 

Also GTA IV's trophies are easy. The Flying Rats one and Fly the "Co-op" is the only ones i find difficult.

Granted, most of the trophies for IV aren't too difficult, but Fly the Co-op* and Auf Wiedersehen Petrovic* are tough and time consuming.
