Are there any free usermade dynamic themes yet?

people can't make dynamic themes themself, it requires the SDK from the PS3, therefore only devs can make them.

My update took longer to install than to download, but it only took about 10 minutes for the entire process.

 

As for the update itself, it seems like a step backwards. I always had the Information Board turned off, now it's been expanded and I'm forced to see it first every time I turn on the system. The friends list is large and obtrusive, and the status in the upper corner was better before. If I want to see how many friends are online, I'll go to my friends list, thanks. No new avatars, annoying glitters (my wife likes them though) and the trophies still haven't been organized. More like Firmware -3.0?

I read something about that (a reaction to one of the videos posted)..

 

@Geomy: You can turn those glitters off by switching from 'Original' to 'Classic' or something (in the theme menu).

Looks like I may be part of very few who actually don't mind the update. Trophy cards seem to load a lot faster on my end, especially when in game. I really have no complaints here.

to be honest, i am not impressed with the new update, the dynamic themes are a nice addition i suppose, but they better not be too expensive, i know the LBP one is $2.99, but i'm guessing they may be slightly cheaper on the UK store if it gets updated with some, i absolutely hate the new solid background on the friends list for names, it looks awful. Pretty average really, i don't see why some people were so excited.

 

EDIT: I just made a japanese PSN just for the Afrika theme, damn it confused the hell out of me half the time, but i got through it, taking forever to download the theme though.

Started my download when I got in from work at 4.30 and it’s going surprisingly faster than some of the previous system updates, currently at 28%. Seems to be conflicting reports, some have said there are new avatars some say there aren’t.

Deal with it. Microsoft charges a lightsaber that includes no sound effect whatsoever for $5 for your avatar and a lot of other useless bullsh*t that you'd probably complain about the price. $3 for a dynamic background isn't bad at all. You can't have everything for free.

 

And yeah, the "PS3" is the newest "PlayStation 3" logo, also you might notice that it's not "PLAYSTATION 3" anymore. And in fact the "Slim" isn't even a PS3 Slim, it's a new PS3 model that they'll be using from now on and eventually phase out the original fat version.

One thing I just found out is the addition of subtitles to videos now.

 

 

Audio & Subtitle Languages in Videos on the HDD

Video settings adds HDD audio language and HDD subtitle language options. Using these, you view videos using language tracks and subtitles from your hard disk in your preferred language. Some content does not allow for these settings to be used.

 

 

This is f*cking great. I love having subtitles in movies for some reason. Keeps my attention span.

The Africa theme is brilliance, but will it actually change? Like day/night or different animals?

Same here... they should fix those 'Network' 'Games' and so on logo's, make them black or something, instead of white.

Had a look through and couldn't see any new (avatars) in the selection on offer. Hope this changes soon, I'm so bored on what we have to choose from currently. As for the update it's not that bad, not great either. My only real gripe with it is having the PS store access icon in both it's original place and under your trophies, so unnecessary to have it twice so close together.

I got the update earlier today, pretty cool. Except for the stupid big gray boxes around friends names, & a new 'store' icon being between game icon & trophies icon. I think it should be above trophy icon. I'm going to end up in the store so many times by mistake by trying to look at trophies lol. Other than that, it's all good. Where are these animated themes? Guess I'll add my 2. D/L 3.00 last night. here's some of my gripes:

• 1) What's new. Don't care, wish they added an ability to to this feature off. It's kinda distracting with a ticker going off.

2) PlayStation Store. Why did they have to place a second icon in the games section. Kinda redundant.

3) The fairy dust. Why add this to the theme? I changed mine back to classic in the options menu. Funny though, you still see it when starting up or starting a game.

4) The grey boxes. Why? The friends menu was fine, why change it? What is this, Oz? This is the lamest feature, who was asking for this?

5) No Gay Tony. Yes I know, but still, damn Sony!

Though I liked the larger icons, and some games seem to run a bit faster. Did the update free up some system memory?

I love the new update with it's sparkles and startup and PS3 logo. Sony should have used this logo from the start instead of the Spiderman 3 font.

 

The update was actually more than I expected so I'm surprised. I thought it was just gonna be some lousy video playback thing I haven't even used yet.
