What is up with this? Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier coming out for the PS2 and PSP.

 

It's Complete. Utter. Bullsh*t. This was originally expected to be an exclusive PS3 release. The announcement was brought up on April 1, so I thought to myself this was just some kind of joke. Turns out, it's real as your mom's tits. I mean come on, I clearly understand that Naughty Dog is currently working on Uncharted 2, but don't ruin the Jak franchise by working on it on the freaking PS2 and PSP. They could have just waited until they finished Uncharted and got it released, then start working on Jak on the PS3, but no. I mean, I'm pretty sure they will at some point release a title for the PS3, but The Lost Frontier was the name they were going to use...

 

Did they suddenly just forget about the PS3 and that it exist?

 

When did they say The Lost Frontier was suppose to be a PS3 release? Or was it made to look like it was a PS3 release by the media?

I can't recall Sony every stating that.

It was expected. Naughty Dog mentioned the Uncharted engine could of come in good use during development for this title.

It was expected? Why? Sony never dropped the support on the PS2 or the PSP. They have three platforms to release games on....so their game announcements can be for any of the systems they have on the market.

 

And I don't see how the Jak and Daxter series is being ruined. The world isn't going to end once The Lost Frontier comes out on the PS2/PSP. Naughtydog/Sony can still introduce the series on the PS3.

 

I can understand being disappointed with the news but I can't understand how the series is being ruined. I know you would have preferred to play it on the PS3 but there is no way you can tell me that the series is being ruined.

Knowing how incredible Naughty Dog can produce graphics, this means I won't be able to witness them on Jak and Daxter for the PS3. They could of used the Uncharted engine for gameplay, that could of been awesome. They could of gone to new heights. It would of been a better game obviously. The last Jak game to come out for the PS2 was Jak X which was in 2005. And I've been waiting since then for a new one to come out for the PS3.

It wont. Its full potential is suppose to end till 2015, 2016 or something. No doubt a new XBOX will be out by 2011 - 2012. I red somewhere that the full potential has already been used on the 360, graphics etc. (dont ask for sources, cant remmeber where i red it)

 

Anyway, this game looks Awesome, there should be a topic on it, out in June!

Hey come on, give the PS2 some credit. First and foremost, graphics aren't everything. There are some excellent titles avalible on the PS2 that have 10x the gameplay then alot of PS3 games. Sweeping generalisations aside it would've been nice to see it on the PS3, I guess it goes to show they haven't really put an effort into the title.

I'm still hoping that it will only be released on PS3, and the April Fools joke was that it would only be on PS2/PSP. The screens look about as good as the first game, and that was from 2001.

I know you've waited a long time for them to announce anything new about the series. I know you were hoping for it to be on the PS3 and it's fine being disappointed.....I can kinda understand that but come on.....don't rule it out yet. You may still see it come to the system a little bit later.

Yes but how? I mean I've changed it from wired connection to wireless connection but that doesn't do anything. It really is pissing me off as my internet connection is find yet the PS3 can't detect it.

I have a general HDMI question that might apply here-- I just got a 1080p TV a week ago..

 

I want to put my PS3 in my basement and connect a standard vid output and HDMI output to the PS3 so I can play on either TV without moving the PS3... (I do know how to switch it back and forth)

 

I bought a 25' HDMI cable off of ebay-- I connected it up and it would not display at 1080p on my plasma (unplugged my 6' and plugged in the 25' to the same HDMI connections on the TV and the PS3).

 

So I went ahead and switched the PS3 to standard vid output, then swithced the output to HDMI again... this time it came up via the HDMI at 480i, but if I select any other vid setting (720, 1080i, 1080p either manually or in auto) the TV says "no signal found"-- after 30 seconds it swithches back to the 480i on the HDMI.

 

To check the new HDMI cable, I did hook this 25' HDMI to my cable box output (max output resolution for the cable box is 1080i) and it works fine (picture fine on the TV)so I'm thinking the cable is working ok.

 

The TV is a Samsung 58PNA550 (58" plasma) if that is pertinent.

 

Now my questions--

Has anyone else run this long a HDMI cable from their PS3??

Is the PS3 not putting enough power into the HDMI signal or is this maybe because I bought a "cheap" ebay HDMI cable?

Do they sell HDMI line amplifiers that might help?

 

I have a friend who has a brother who is going to make me up another 25' HDMI cable for me that I will try before I do anything else-- but hoping I can get some insight to my problem.

For the above, is the PS3 not obtaining a new IP address when it does the internet connection test?? Did you try running a wired connection to either a router and/or the Modem-- I would try hooking directly to the modem and see if you have not done this yet... have it detect settings and do the internet connection test and see if it works that way--- is your network secured or not?? (if it is, going from the modem to the PS3 will bypass any router issue that might be causing this.

 

If this works then it might be an issue with your router... a quick fix that might work is just to unplug of turn off you modem and router... start the modem.... let it do it's self test and then do the same thing with the router... I'd do that before messing with router settings or what not...

I'm looking forward to the next Uncharted game. The first one was a great game, I think it's one of the best shooters in my collection of games. I'm definitely gonna get the next one.

As a few of you know, I got a PS3 last week, and just checked out the books and stuff that come with it.

What do we do about warranty or something if the PS3 breaks? Just wondering cause thats alot of money to just throw in the bin if it does

I'm pretty sure there is a standard 1 year warranty, I know I could pay extra at Electronics Boutique, my local store to get the warranty extended by 2 years, but the PS3 seems to be a very reliable system. No way near as many hardware failures as the 360, you've got nothing to worry about. Just make sure you have it sitting horizontally, apparemtly it's the best position.

Does this just happen spontaneously? The only times I've seen this is when I hold down the power button on the front of the console, or a couple of random freeze-ups when playing big games like fallout 3 and Oblivion.
