IGN is saying that there are rumors of a big announcement from Sony coming tomorrow. This could be bullsh*t, but you never know.

Well it's definitely not a PS3 price-drop. Sony has already confirmed that. It could be a PS2 price-drop but that doesn't seem to be the case either.

 

All I'm hoping for is an update on the PS3. But... We'll have to wait and see what gives.

It might be that sony patented PS Cloud recently, whatever that is or that there has been a ps2 price drop because at the moment there is no other news.

Haha, wow. That was the big news? More like a big joke. I agree with you beavis though, PS2's are extremely cheap nowadays. You can get a good conditioned one at GameStop for only 70 bucks. Or find one at eBay for 20. Shame on you Sony for getting me all hyped up for nothing.

I believe you should be blaming the internets for the hype. Sony never said a thing about what the announcement was.

 

If I still had my PS2 I would probably still be playing it. Luckily I have the Emotion Engine running 60GB PS3.

Australian trade magazine Smarthouse reports that it's received word regarding a "global announcement" from Sony on Tuesday, possibly concerning the PS3. Kotaku states that it has also received word -- apparently from Sony itself -- that a big announcement is imminent, but the site speculates that it could be for a PS2 price drop -- which we received evidence of this evening.

Sony dropped Kotaku a line to let us know that something is going down on Tuesday, March 31st. Could it be the long-rumored price cut is finally upon us?

 

Or could it be something completely different? Rumors have been doing little twirly things all over the internet over the past few weeks regarding a potential PlayStation 3 price cut, and while our first thought was "Why would they announce it several days after GDC?", apparently they are indeed announcing something several days after GDC. Go figure.

 

We're leaning towards a price cut, but we've got a sneaking suspicion that it's the PlayStation 2 dropping to $99, and not a cut for the PlayStation 3.

 

All we know so far is that they're announcing something. There's only one thing to do now. Let the wild speculation begin! What do you think/hope/dream Sony is announcing?

Wewt. Finally got round to buying a PS3. Bought the 80Gig with LBP. I coulda got LBP and GTA4 but the f*cking stupid ATM machine wouldn't let me get out another £10.

A new chat feature that lets you chat with people whilst in any game. Pretty much like a mini IM client that lets you have up to 16 people in one chat. It's pretty neat I must admit.

well there's also a new feature that allows you to copy and paste text in the web browser.. which is great seeing as I've been stuck on my ps3 for months now and i can finally copy n paste sh*t.... lol oh and there's also another feature allowing you to change each individual songs volume incase of 1 being louder than the rest.. so it's not all like" dun dun dun BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!!

I don’t mind having to update my PS3 but it really bugs me that you cant pause an update download like you can when downloading demos. Now means I have to keep my PS3 on for a good amount of time and do nothing else with it until it’s finished. I was going to download it off the site but it only seems to show 2.60 as the most recent update.

Just installed the update. Other things that I have noticed are that profiles now load faster (which is something which was annoying me so good job Sony) and now Compare Trophies also loads faster and has been changed so that if you do not own the game it will no longer say 0% but will have a dash instead.

That's awesome that there's a cut and paste thing since it was so frustrating for me not having it and the pc internet not working for almost a year now, it's one of the things I really needed. now for me the pc is useless because my ps3 can do all I need.

Text chat, not voice chat. I'm sure they are working on the voice chat. It is one of the most requested features.

I think Sony have only gone with Text Chat for now for a test, just to see how well it works and the next Firmware will possibly add in voice chat, well I hope it does, it's one of the only things that XBL seems to have over PSN.

Damn, I was hoping this would be the update that allows you to play your own music in games, like the 360. While they are at it they could update the interface for opening files. It's pretty poorly done right now, IMO they could learn alot from itunes' setup.

For some games I think that is a good idea, maybe GT5 or the Need For Speed series. But for games like GTA4 I think you just need to keep the original soundtrack, original.

Oh for sure pretty much every game has decent enough music but most games I play through I end up hearing the same songs over and over again, especially GTA. Then there's games like Fallout and oblivion that have mind numbingly boring orchestral music nonstop.
