I've finally decided to buy a PS3.

 

But I thought it would be best to ask the lot of you which console I should buy, I mainly only want it for the online.

 

So, if you can give me some good online games and such, along with accesories (prices in American currency) that'd be wonderful!

Imo, the best game on the PS3 currently is Killzone 2.

Yes i forgot MGS4, because that game bored my underpants off.

I'd suggest you Killzone 2, CoD4/5, IV, and Little Big Planet. For accessories, you could buy a wireless keypad for about $50. You could also buy a keyboard for about $80. I bought my mic for $30. So I'm sure you could do the same.

Who here has upgraded there HDD? Has anyone had any problems with their new HDD (especially 7200rpm one, I've heard they run a little hotter)? And has anyone had any trouble brining backed-up files back?

 

I have an 80 GB (actually 74) PS3 and after installing 6GB of music and still not having any demos I'm down to 38GB.

i went with the 250gb 5400rpm cause i believe 5400 is whats in there already.

 

This is the difference between a marketing Gig and a true Gig.

 

A true kilobyte is 1024 bytes ( to the power of 10). A mega byte is 1024 * 1024. And a Gig is 1024 * 1024 * 1024, which comes out to 1,073,741,824 bytes. However hard drive manufacturer's use a base 10 method of computing size. So, a kilobyte is 1000 bytes and a gigabyte is 1,000,000,000 bytes.

 

So in the case of my drive that has a marketing size of 250 gigabytes, it really only has a capacity of 232.8 Gigabytes

To be honest with you, buy the version you think you'll need. If you like downloading a lot, then get either the 80GB or 160GB. If you're not the kind of guy that really uses a lot of memory, then go for the 40GB.

 

I personally have an 80GB and after downloading some videos, loads of demos and 50+ songs, I'm left with 20GB.

 

Besides the memory, the 3 versions don't really have much differences.

Well you have to put into mind the game installs, I have a 60 Gb and with a some music and games i have 12 GB left.

@oldage: Is that the error saying "An error has occured. you've been signed out from the ps network"? Does it happen all the time?

There's a topic on it here, some PS3 forum. Sounds like your problem is a firewall you have setup.

 

Edit - I just had this problem today, it signed me out, I wasn't playing anything online, just signed in. I tried signing back in immediantly and it worked fine afteward. Must be a server issue.

Don't buy it, the picture quality alone makes the camera worthless IMO

You can adjust the quality for it by turning the cover around the camera, i use my old EyeToy though, works just like a Playstation Eye.

I thought about getting a PS eye a long time ago when I heard about a game called Eyedentify. It looked quite good but there hasn't been any news in a long time I think.

What's up with my credit card being invalid? Whenever I enter my card type, card name ETC it works fine. But when I click continue, it takes me to an adress page. I tried everything I can in all of the categories and it keeps on saying my credit card is invalid. Help.

I decided to buy Noby Noby Boy. Argh.

Just argh. I'm getting annoyed at just thinking about that game. I thought it could be good, I love the Katamari games, and all innovative stuff like that. But there's innovative and then there's just sh*t.

You walk around, stretch yourself, eat things, poo them out... and thats it. The only thing which I think is good, is that everyone has to work together to unlock new planets by adding to the total stretched amount... but I wouldn't be suprised if they never unlock the next planet as the game gets boring within about quarter of an hour.

Also the controls, 3 functions all assigned to L2. While X, Square, Triangle and Circle are all unused in game! It is just horrid. And the camera sysytem, 90 percent of the time when your stretched out it feels like your following the camera rather than the camera following you.

 

Don't get it. What a waste of 3 quid.

I've got all the trophies for it now, and i'm not touching that game again, I only will to show my friends how bad it really is.

 

Almost got the platinum trophy for Fallout 3 Just need to get the rest of the BobbleHeads and do the last quest.

After I click continue after the street address page, it waits for a few seconds and says "credit card is invalid". Well atleast, that is some of the thing it writes. Sony screwed me again.

After much debate I've decided to sell my copies of Oblivion, Fallout 3, Assasin's Creed (crap game) and Resistance FOM. I'll also get rid of my old PS2, guitar hero 2 pack, two controllers and about 6 other games. Not sure how much I should get for all that in a trade in., probably not much. I'll probably get rid of one of my PS3's dualshocks too, not really needed since the only time I multiplayer offline is on my mates Xbox. I don't like selling new PS3 games, especailly when I've got hundreds of hours invested in them, I just know they are going to collect dust on the shelf.

 

I'm putting it all towards buying Wipeout HD, CoD: Waw, LBP, Mortal Combat vs DC Universe and burnout Paradise. They should be pretty cheap nowdays.

Depends on who you're going to sell it to. GameStop? eBay? Friend?

 

If it's GameStop, then you'll probably be getting like 5 bucks for the PS3 games. 10 for the PS2, Guitar Hero I'm not sure, probably 20, and if the 6 other games are for PS2, it could range from being 5 cents each. And the Dual Shock for 20.

 

Just my guess for GameStop, but I'm sure everyone agrees with me here when I say you'd get much more money selling them online.

 

Besides WipEout HD and Burnout Paradise, they should still be pretty high-priced.

Well I was talking about selling off my old crap, I've got a full list. Turns out I've got a bit more than i thought.

 

- Ps2 console + cables + 2 controllers + memory card.

- Guitar.

- Ps3 dualshock.

- 4 Ps3 games, Fallout 3, Assasin's Creed, Oblivion and FOM.

- 13 Ps2 Games, every GTA between 3 and IV included.

- 1 Wii game.

 

Should be able to get a half decent trade in for that at EB. I've upped the list of stuff I'll buy to CoD: Waw, Burnout Paradise, Smash Bro's Melee and Mario Kart. It's pretty lame how they pay so little for everything, but I can't be f*cked seeling it all on ebay.
