Guyysss, i was playing COD4 with two people on private match, and all of a sudden, the screen went black.

 

Then it went to the XMB menu, as if it started up.

I was worried that the disk drive was screwed again, but it still reads disks!

and it cant of overheated, because it lies down, on my desk, with nothing around it.

 

Anyone know what it could be?

Nope. Hook up the DSL box to the router, then hook up the PS3 to the router.

Guys, I have problems signing into PSN. It says "An error has occurred when communacation with the server. This is a DNS error(807_ _ _ _ )" What should I do?

If you use a Wifi connection where it's not specific on a PC, the DNS error also comes up, that just means it has not found an open connection to the WWW.

 

My PS3 is off line, by the door, and heading to Gamestop tomorrow for a repair of sorts....or cleaning. Whatever the case that has made it a spendy doorstop for GTA gaming, I have my original receipt and I shall report on what they tell me here.

It's a normal error message, though complex in detail it just equates to how a browser is your computer loaded software to connect with web pages sent to your computer in cache. When the call for a web page goes unanswered on the other end, that's what you see.

I'd make sure you have a working signal in and out then it could just be a problem if using Wifi and the signal is weak.

 

If you have a router hooked up and a paid service, someone other then me can advise you with that, I've not got one, but I CAN tell you the PS3 and PSP Wifi section is basically the same, the powering of each is on the woeful side, I have to admit.

 

My laptop gets Wifi better, but it does have an antenna and that boosts incoming signals.

so it's two different adapters? cause my ps3 is upstairs and the PC and modem is in the basement

The Ethernet is controlled in the main menu, Sony has connection help on their site, check that reference out. Seems you are asking about adapters in terms of the two discrete Online methods, correct?? WiFi is Wireless "radio", the hardware requires no hands-on, it's all internal which is why the PSP works with it so handily. Ethernet means you are using the cabled method, much more direct and less prone to signal issues.

 

Using Wifi built in I could get signals but they dropped off easily. (when I had an unlocked source signal).

My PS3 is off line, needing repair. Total bummage.
