Yeah I'm so used to having ripped(no music, no FMV's) PS1 images that are much smaller. I don't think I'll actually need 8GB though. 2 or even 4, but if I have space troubles I'll only keep the PS1 games I want to play at the time on my memstick, and leave the unused ones on my PS3 HD..is that possible? How do they work around only having one analog "stick" btw? And is there a wide selection of titles, or just a sh*tload like the Virtual Console?

About the PS1 games on PS3/PSP:

I have 4 PS1 games on my PS3, they all play Fine (including on PSP, except CTR which i havnt tried yet), there arn't that many avalible (from PS3 store) but i think theres a PSP store (i've never connected my PSP to internet so dont know for sure) that probably has alot more, but i dont know if they work with PS3.

 

I have my PS1 games installed on my PS3 all the time, all i do is connect the PSP and copy the game whenever i want to play it (if its not already on the PSP), i have copied 2 of the games to the PSP more than once (after i accidently erased all the data on the memory stick ).

 

The games i have are (Including Filesize):

 

Crash Bandicoot (462MB)

Crash Team Racing (324MB)

Syphon Filter (342MB)

Wipeout (92MB)

 

Filesize depends on what games you get. I have a 1GB memory stick for my PSP so can only have 2 or 3 games installed at a time.

 

Most PS1 games dont use the Analog sticks so thats not a problem (i remember having a demo on my PS1 years ago that wouldnt work unless you had an analog controler, doubt that game will be converted to PSP), each PS1 game has controls to suit what console its on (PSP or PS3).

About the PS3:

Have any UK PS3 owners tried the Uncharted Demo from the US Store yet?

Apparently the US version of the demo wont work on PAL PS3s, its something like 1.2GB so i dont want to download it if its not going to work, my internet hasnt been very fast latel so it would take ages to download, and it mean i cant use the internet on my PC etc...

Ok, as I am sure you all know, with 2.0 for the PS3 you can set themes for your PS3. Well, you can also create your own. I am no good with this sh*t, so hopefully some of you guys are. Maybe we can get a nice GTA theme.

Well yeah I knew about most PS1 games not requiring dual shock, just wanted to make sure they didn't try to replicate dual shock with one nub. Shouldn't be much different than playing my PS1 emulator here on my PC using a 360 controller. It's pretty hard to map stuff to the analog stick with MS drivers, so you're forced to use the D-Pad only, so I won't be missing analog sticks when I check out PS1 games on my PSP then..

 

One more question: How exactly does transfer or the image/rom go? Is it a raw image file like the one you'd use on a PC emulator? Or a new propiertary Sony format to prevent PC users from taking pirated games and transferring to the PSP?

Dude, they're the same. Check the reviews. I've played the game at a friends house and didn't notice any jaggies so if they were really bad I am sure it would be easier to notice. It's fine. Ugh....

Lol, hardly worth the screens. I mean its barely noticeable to be honest.

You can pick up the PS2 to PS3 adapter and plug it in your PC to play PS1 games on your computer like you use to. It works like a charm.

 

Plugging in the PS3 controller using the USB cable would work (with drivers) but you have to re-sync it everytime you connect and you can't use it wirelessly.....so the adapter works better and I didn't even need to install any drivers for it.

 

I got the pelican PS2 to PS3 adapter by the way.

It really is unfortunate that you guys can't download it off of the U.S store. The game is great, I loved the demo and now I really can't wait for the game to come out.

 

Has the UK store already been updated? If not, you guys could still get it tomorrow......

Uncharted was pretty impressive, only a few complaints.

The main flaw is the aiming/controls. Both feel recalcitrant

and difficult to maneuver at times, on the other hand

pulling off a 90-yard headshot has never felt more satisfying.

it's "fixed" now~

 

so anyone able to access the US psn store can snag it region-free

 

tough game, really have to make use of covers and the enemy ai ain't too dim either, they hide and "Try" to sneak up on you

 

and it's not as jaggy as I first remember it from earlier screens~ slight fps hits here and there, but nothing to really write to home about

it looks good, but there is one big flaw. the shooting

 

you can shoot around corners. if you get close to an object without actually leaning against it, you can move your aiming reticule around the corner, and shoot guys around the corner with you and your gun still safely behind the barrier.

 

your aiming reticule is connected to the camera, and not to where your gun is aiming, and some times there is a big difference, and that just throws me off.

Its worth it, really....there are so many cool themes you can find online now. I was surprised how quickly people got them done. I am using the Apple theme right now.

 

And the best part is.....they're FREE.

 

I've found some other cool ones, but those are the best ones.

 

I am also gonna make my own and I might post it here if its good. =D

Thanks for letting us know , i just been playing it, graphics are great, but as mentioned b4 the aiming is a bit awkward, i found reducing the sensitivity helps aim more accuratly.

 

Think i will get this sometime b4 Xmas.

I'm glad to see Warhawks Stats problems have been improved, i'm now the correct rank (Airman) instead of being something i dont deserve (Commander), now i got a reason to play the game more often .

Anyone got the new Motorstorm Devils Crossing pack?

i havnt completed it yet, got 3 more races to complete, but i noticed in time attack

mode that theres 2 other new maps that you cant select (Eagles Nest and DiamondBack Speedway), do you unlock these when you complete all events?

Same goes for the vehicles, i've seen a few that i havnt got available yet (a cool looking military buggy, and a beach buggy), i suppose i'l unlock them soon aswel.

I didn't have a problem with the default controls at all except for maybe the horizontal camera for moving (not aiming.) I changed that to flipped only because I am use it that now after playing action/adventure games like Prince of Persia.

 

The next two weeks are going to be awesome for action/adventure fans! Not one, but two action/adventure games (Assassins Creed and Uncharted)..........I really can't wait, was really tired of all the damn first person shooters. (Conan was a disappointment, even though I wasn't looking forward to it, I gave it a try and if it was good, I would have bought it.)

 

Motorstorm - I downloaded the new pack and I think those maps are going to be available later in an update or maybe you unlock those after completing the new races?

that has been around since graw 1

 

 

once i noticed the aiming thing a few times though, it just killed it for me. i was no longer controlling a character shooting bad guys. i was now a guardian angel protecting a meat popsicle.

I think you are making a big deal out of it...I've played the demo about five times, once on normal, once on easy and a couple times on hard......and I didn't have any problem with the shooting at all. It's killing me that the game doesn't come out until the 20th....which is why I am hoping GameStop is actually going to sell it on the 16th, hopefully its not a rumor. It might not be, which will be good, I got the game on pre-order.

Yeah SIP, I have to say you always seem a bit more critical when it comes to Sony's games. Then again, you've always come across as an opinionated guy to me so I'll just keep my mouth shut.

 

The new Resistance map pack looks awesome btw, which may lead to me playing Resistance again after I'm done with CoD4 (which may never happen ).

I found resistance a lot easier to get into than the COD series. there are some parts in COD where it just becomes too hectic, and too hard to follow and i lose interest.

 

 

edit: just watched the vid on the motorstorm devils crossing pack, and it seems rather complete, track, vehicles, songs.

 

i will probably grab it once sony adjusts the store prices to reflect the dollar. everything is still 20% more expensive on the canadian store even though the canadian dollar is crushing the american. same with microsoft points. they said they were using points so they could adjust for exchange rates, but they aren't.

If so. Are you having trouble connecting to games? I have been trying to join a game for most of last night without any success, I switch on my multiplayer so people can join me when I am playing, but they always show as connecting. Then after a few mins, connecting failed.
