Unlocking vehicle upgrades. Flawed system?

As it is now, players have to flat out win to gain progress toward the next upgrade. I believe this is a fail.

 

I gave it some thought, and I believe a system in which you gain a progressive amount of points for higher finishes, less points for lower finishes, but points regardless for a finished race.

 

An example of this system, let's assume a 10 player race. The winner receives 10 points, 2nd gets 9, and so on, last place gets 1 point.

 

How does a 2 player race work? Winner receives 10 points, 2nd gets 1 point.

 

3 player race? winner gets 10 points, 3rd gets 1, 2nd gets 2, you probably get the idea, I think this is a better system, one that progresses regardless of the race skill of the player, albeit very slowly if you constantly finish poorly.

 

Assuming 10 points for a win, you would need 400 points to fully mod a vehicle. That equates to 40 wins, or 400 last place finishes, and everything in between.

 

I know you can just trade wins with a friend, which is what I did, however, that is a boring grind, and I think it would be far more rewarding to earn it even if it took a little longer.

Wait, did they make it so each class must be unlocked? If so, it's gonna suck for my buddy who is playing for the first time when it comes to ps4.

Agreed, I didn't buy the game until the end of July, and barely played until the weather turned crap in the northeast. But, a lot of new players are going to buy for PS4/Xbox one, and be in the same boat, also Christmas noobs are just a month away

I do race a lot, and also I traded some wins with a friend to get my upgrades. I just think a second place finish in a ten car race is not bad and should be rewarded..In R* eyes a second place is a worthless loss

This, kinda sucks for people like me who absolutely hate racing. Been playing same guy since Oct 1,2013 and only have the first engine upgrade.

Disagree. As it is now, you need 40-50 WINS, so 50 last places to unlock makes no sense, it needs to be a progression, if you race 20 times, you will have a mixed bag of finishes, everything from first to last, in my system, all those finishes are worth something.

I think to unlock all upgrades, regardless of car class, you should have to win 50 races. It's really not difficult - driving fast is part of everyday GTA and there's no excuse for imcompetence behind the wheel.

All I race is supers, and I've unlocked every class, I think winning sports unlocks only sports, and so on, but Supers definitely unlock all.

I have a problem with unlocking crew emblem on vehicles.In LSC it says I need to reach crew rank 10 to unlock it,but I´ve been in that crew for weeks now and have ranked up to crew rank 44,but I still don´t have crew emblem unlocked in game.In the two crews that I was before I could unlock it much faster,I guess it´s glitched now.

meh, performance upgrades are over rated. i have none on my vehicles, well except spoilers of course because they have been changed now to have an affect on our vehicles and most likely still won't until i feel i must NEED to have them.

 

 

on point though i will say R* could've done it better for sure. even though i feel it's not quite the right answer your idea would work and does sound a bit more fair generally overall for the hardcore gamer to the casual player IMO.

Yeah that sucks, they really should have tied them to character level like the weapon attachements. I understand leaving the cosmetic paint jobs for race wins, and i honestly think it would be cool if they changed the reward from race wins to special liveries, vinyls, and what not.

50 race wins period regardless of class. You win 50 bicycle or plane races you still unlock chrome on all vehicles.

Not all races will be for 30 people...all the old races will likely remain exactly the same.

I only raced utility races to unlock parts for my female character back in October (October 2014, that is) and I unlocked parts for super, sports, coupes, etc. even though my character had little or no racing in those classes.

This. It was never patched. Any class unlocks parts for all classes.

Please! I'm about level 200 and I still haven't unlocked the stupid Metal paints for my cars.

You need to win a Rally Race, but for some reason, every Rally Race I've ever done, I end up being the passenger and the player chosen to be the driver is, apparently, blind as a proverbial bat.

It's okay, because at least I unlocked the Lime Green paint for $20,000, cuz it goes so nice with everything... not.

A friend of mine started playing just two weeks ago and ive helped him unlock vehicle upgrades and all he used was supers and it unlocked for all.

Its ridiculous to earn upgrades legitimate.

To win upgrades you have to win races to win races you need to upgrade cars. Its dumb imo and hardly anyone races customs off so you get a lvl 10 noob in with lvl 100 full upgrades people
