It's current gen, not next gen.

Thanks for giving us a definition of semantics.

Everyone will call it current gen when they own one.. currently. Its called next gen still because many are hoping to get it soon.

Don't judge a book by its cover. Just cause they're gonna be a lower level doesn't mean that they're noobs. You may be surprised by the outcome amigo

be good at the game all you want but they're new to Southern San Andreas a.k.a. GTA V map... which is a huge factor

wow you really didnt understand him huh?

Noob or 3L33T, you all die quick enough from a DEagle headshot.

Fraid not.

Had one for months and it doesn't quite work like that I'm afraid...

And as others have said, there's quite a few low level characters being played by those with a lot of experience and knowledge of Los Santos..

Myself included.

And some of us, myself included again, might also feel slightly protective towards the newbies..

I think some leet COD types may own us using first person, don't get too complacent! I'm quite tempted to start a new character anyway with the new version.

That's the thing.. the 3rd person view definitely has some tactical advantages.. I mean, you can't stand far behind a wall and see round the corners in 1st person mode, can you??

Good point, some of these COD twitch shooter types have amazing reflexes and speed of aim though.

Quick scope-tastic!

Wait till people start sniping with their rifles.

Back in April, R* announced that they had sold (or distributed to retailers) 32.5 million copies of GTA5.

I just found an article that says they sold 33 million according to their accounts (making nearly $2 billion):

http://www.forbes.com/sites/davidthier/2014/05/13/grand-theft-auto-5-has-sold-nearly-2-billion-at-retail/

13.5 million PS4s have sold as of late October.

More than 10 millions X-Box Ones have been shipped to retailers

I know a few people (including myself) who have pre-ordered one, so there will probably be quite a few more sold by then

So there are at least 23.5 'next' gen consoles, not counting the 'more than' and pre-ordered ones not included in the figures above.

Unless the unknown figures mentioned above are at least 9.5 million, and every console made has been sold, and their owners buy GTA5 - not everyone who played on 'current' gen consoles will be playing the game when it is released next week on 'next' gen.

http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2014/10/31/sony-have-sold-13-5-million-playstation-4s-since-launch/

http://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonevangelho/2014/11/12/xbox-one-outsells-ps4-in-november-microsoft-touts-10-million-shipped/

tl:dr: More copies of GTA5 were sold on PS3/Xbox-360 than there are PS4/Xbox One consoles in existence today.

How many people haven't got gta v on the old consoles but are getting it on next gen? Obviously many pc gamers haven't got the game yet, but you don't wait this long and then choose to 'descend' to console gaming.

Both. I'd rather go after some high level player spawn killing a newb. And I started a new character last week, and wasted no time buying the DLC weapons. Special carbine, heavy shotgun, heavy pistol, and marksman rifle. So far the new character, "Sunny", has gone three kills to one by hiding in Posonby's with her first bounty. It might've been more kills, but I tried to make a break for it & shotgun somebody lurking outside...and trying to jump over a fire in Posonby's entrance made her ignite and fall down outside the store like the story mode characters do.

They won't be slaughtered too bad. They balanced it over the year. The Special Carbine was what somewhat leveled the playing field and the Special Shotgun or whatever its called took care of the rest.

Before that Under level 20 you never stood a chance at beating anyone over level 60

Now you have a decent ranged auto-rifle and the automatic shotgun to kill people in cars trying to run you over.

I can no longer troll you in the Swat Truck. That used to be my best enjoyment. I see a group of level 6 friends. I drive up to them with the swat truck and pistol them all down.

I see the "Current Gen" morons are still trolling every thread.

The PS4 came out a couple of months after GTA5 was released last year, and R* didn't announce it was coming to the PS4/X-Box One until the 9th of June this year - so I assume most people who wanted to play it would have already played it on 'current' gen.

Except of course for people who didn't own either console over the last year - or like you say PC gamers.

I doubt many PC gamers would spend £350 on a console just to play one game, when they only have to wait a couple of months for it's PC release date.

We will have no idea how many PC gamers are out there patiently waiting for it's release, I don't see that many people on here talking about it.

Those that do reckon it will be a lot better though, due to them being able to run higher specs than the consoles, etc. (plus the modding side of it).

I have seen posts on R*'s support site from a few of them asking about the specs their system's will need to run the game as well.

So there are obviously some PC gamers out there, but who knows how many there could be?

According to the website above's figures, under 1 million copies.

I have never been one to pick on lower levels unless provoked first. Its weak IMO. If you want to show off how good you are pick on someone your own size. Go toe to toe with someone with a similar arsenal and skill level. Killing someone who has a pistol and next to no health proves nothing except that you are a bully.

Hats off to you good sir, for not being a c*nt.

Actually, technically, they're both "current gen". The PS3/360 is still selling well and exclusive games are still being made for it. The new consoles haven't even gotten close to making them obsolete. But they can't call them both "current gen". IMO, PS3/360 is current gen because it hasn't gone anywhere, and the new consoles are next-gen because they're still "new" and haven't really hit their stride yet...
