So how does the entire process of transfer work.

I don't have a PS4 quite yet, so I just want some clarification.

I assume I'll need a new PSN account on PS4 right?

I assume I don't need a new social club because we're transferring our character and stuff related to social club right?

So how exactly are we getting info from our PS3 account to our PS4 account?

Why create a new account on PS4 instead of using your account that you created on PS3? I've never understood people who do it that way, perhaps you are not aware that the Playstation Network is the same on PS3 and on PS4?

To answer your question, you will be able to recover your data from your Social Club by linking ur PSN on PS4

because Sony won't let me change my name from GrabSaqTurnNKoff to anything else.

That and I have nothing that is worth transfering over.

PSN accounts are universal, if you want to start fresh that's up to you. Only thing is you won't be able to join anyone who is playing PS3 on your friends list. I started a new account a few months ago, and have a PSN name now that I like, so the choice is yours OP. As far as the transfer you can only do it once for one character, if you decide to play on the PS3 after you transfer, the progress you do make on that transferred character won't carry over. But you can still play with your character on both consoles.

Oh I wasn't aware it was the same network.

Wait does that mean Sony is charging people $50 a year on PS4 for exactly what PS3 gives for free? I always thought PS4 was suppose to have a improved network.

Well thanks for answering.

I agree, it's pretty annoying ... but I've always kept my account since 8 years and I do not want to separate myself from my progress and especially not to be forced to start over GTAO

In addition, you can enjoy exclusive content if you keep the same PSN with which you played on GTA Online on PS360 version and you will not need to start over your level.

Exactly lol.
for example, if you subscribe to Playstation Plus and use the same account with which you are subscribed, you will enjoy the features of Playstation Plus on any platform Sony [PS4, PS3, PSVITA]

I've never used PS+ only basic PSN. I have heard PS+ is good and worth the money though.

Well ... PS + subscription is a great benefit, but you must to be subscribed to this service to play multiplayer, but the good side is that the service offers 2 free games per month.

I could have sweared they will find this out by linking your Social Club account to your PSN/Gamertag, whether its a different PSN/Gamertag is irrelevant.

Or have I missed something over the passed couple of days?

You don't have to start over if you create a new account, though...

Otherwise, how the hell could you transfer from PS3 to Xbox One?

From your Social Club account.

But to have exclusive content that Rockstar announced, I think it is mandatory to be a player of the PS360 version, because if you create a new account directly on PS4 or Xbox One you will not be able to benefit from the contents that have been added exclusively.

But this data can still be reached from social club. I don't see where you're coming from.

Yeah. Everything is tied to my social club account. That would be a horribly half assed way to do it.

You have a source on this?

Wait... How can I play that free game Blacklight: Retribution online right now? I have no PS+, yet...

You use a credit card? Because Multiplayer is paying.

Some games are free to play and dont need a PS+ subscription, such as Blacklight, Warframe and DC Universe Online

It's a free2play game. Free2play games are free, hence no need for a paid subscription.

I'm hoping that since I went from 360 to xb1 and am using the same xbl account for both that i simply install gta v to xb1, load multiplayer and get asked if i want to transfer, say yes, and be good to go. My game is linked to social club already as i started my own crew.

Nope, no credit cards linked to my account.

Edit: Just looked at some of the posts above.

It was worth it on the PS3. Two good and high-rated games pretty much every month.

It's another story on the PS4, the network is still pretty unstable (especially the message system), and the games we get are indies 90% of the time.

If it wasen't required to play online, I would have stopped my subscription months ago. Only good game we've gotten so far is Outlast, and that was back in December last year

Please do, cause I don't see how that would work when they're offering return content to PC players as well

I would also like to see this source, because it's all through the social club. If you can cross console switch and still get the same "upgrades" then you should be able to on a different account on the same console..

edit: sounded kinda standoffish here, didn't mean to, just an fyi! haha

Has R* publish information how we transfer our characters and progressions to next gen? I can't find the info. There is a support page, but it hasn't updated for a long time.
