Simply Logic
It's annoying that your character cannot talk in the game but the pedestrians can say whatever they want.
WHAT!?
Have you played GTA 3? Protagonist doesn't talk in that one either. Best GTA ever. I'm glad the GTAO protag doesn't talk considering the bullsh*t script that is the single player. Whenever I exit online and have to hear Michael talk, deal with his his mental ailments, and his kids, and f*cking shut up nobody cares... Christ I'm totally killing that asshole when I get the game for PC. Then I'll still have Franklin and he sucks too. don ovdi' island

earthrocker
When you speak into your headset, your Online character's mouth moves. I think it would be cool if pedestrians would respond positively or negatively to you if you insulted them or complimented them. Maybe someday. I mean, yelling through the headset at the chashier when robbing a store makes him pick up the pace. I also hate that you can't really give people the finger when on foot. You can do the animations, but when you're driving and you give an NPC the finger, they react. It should be that way if you talk to them through headset as well. I wish our Online character could hang out with NPC friends, also. It'd be hard, with a retard trying to ruin your good time with a tank. But it would be really cool if you could call up Lester and hang out with him, or kick it with that lunatic Martin Madrazo, or even Ron and Trevor. I mean, Trevor even has activity dialogue from single player. Edited November 13, 2014 by earthrocker
don ovdi' island
you could reply to npcs in san andreas. <-- button for negative retort --> button for positive retort but the reaction cj gave was always an insult, regardless of pos or neg id really just like an insult button, f*ck interacting with NPCs, i just want to say something mean when they randomly insult you for no reason. they remind me of a certain internet forum… but i can't put my finger on it…. GunBrothersGaming
Um what are you talking about? I talk all the time. Look at your mouth move when you speak into the mic. This isn't about talking to the NPC's this is about talking to other players. If you are in a group, notice when someone talks in game everyoe looks at that person. You need to pay attention more cause you are missing the little details that make this game great.
igotskiz
If the characters talked, that would break immersion. The point of them not talking is so that way we can project ourselves as the character. It would probably work better if it were a first person game, but it is what it is. (WARNING: Following post only applies to those who hate gameplay immersion. If you're not one of those people, discontinue reading.) "Immersion/projecting is so lame! Why can't you get a life it's sad to see you getting so involved in a video game etc etc etc argue argue argue" It's what the majority of RPGs do, and do well at. Yes, GTAO is an RPG, in the technical sense that you create your character, project yourself as them, manage funds, buy your own assets, have a sandbox of things to...*cough*...well, yea. If you don't like immersion, don't get immersed. But no voice acting will come to every unique player that plays. And it would break immersion for there to be only a male or female voice, or a selection of a couple only. You'd hear your voice come from so many people's mouths all the time, more than likely while trying to kil you. Phantomspirit
Saints Row,has limited dialogue,my guys insult was YeahYeah f*ck You!.....funny for a while...but limited,as games develop, you will be able to talk through your mic and the voice coming out the other end will be the one you chose for your Avatar, that's not difficult to do...and could be fun... Jizzle2014
I talk to NPCS through my mic sometimes for fun and they sometimes respond and sometimes it even makes sense like they are responding to what I said so yeah I like my character a clean slate that I can embody and I would hate if he had a voice.
