I've got a disc copy pre-ordered at GAME but I'm wondering if I should cancel it and go digital. Does anyone here know if the PS4 actually reads the disc once the game has been installed? It's just that I play GTA most days and don't see much point in a disc copy if it's only used to verify the installed game on my consoles ssd.

It needs to confirm it with the disc every time you want to play the game, so you cant sell it, but wouldnt it be nice if you could!

5-10 hours?! LOL. Those people probably did not know to disconnect from the internet before inserting the disc on xbox one. Otherwise in a lot of cases the game will download from the store anyway even though you have the install disc in! thanks microsoft.

 

 

EDIT: plus you will still need the disc inserted to play afterwards even if it downloads the game instead. Obviously easy way to tell is if you are installing a game yet the disc is not spinning.

 

 

Really? That would explain my ridiculous install times on my p!$$ poor 2mbit connection. Is this advised anywhere? Confirmation?

Decided to return my bb preorder and use my trade in credit for a $50 xbox live card. I've been downloading the game for an hour or so and it's a little over 25%.

I pre-ordered the digital version from psn last night. Slightly annoying though that it won't download the game until the timer runs down.:(

people were playing online yesterday, I saw streams and everything

though that may have been ps4 now that I think of it.

I have always purchased physical copies when it comes to games and movies etc. Digital has never appealed to me personally :)

Funny was just about to post the same comment. Guess I'm not the only one so feel better now.

I just want the install out of the way before tomorrow's 6 hour PSN maintenance. PSN store is one of the options that will be unavailable.

If you set it to auto download turn your console off and then on again. It should then start. Mine started downloading when I turned my ps4 on this morning around 10am GMT.

Actually.... I changed my time zone to the time zone NZ has, BUT i also changed my location to NZ, i checked and says it will be released at 12:01 am on 11/18/14 BUUUT it doesn't say "EST" or "PST" next to it :p. *NOT SURE IF IT WILL WORK BUT IT COULD*

Hmm..maybe you got lucky? Im not sure i just heard of it.

No problems here either.

There was a news article about 12 hours ago that some users were receiving 2 specific error codes during the install.

Not widespread though.

Not true. I installed it and it hung at 23% every time.

It also took 6hrs to get to 23%.

Now I'm scared to order games through the glass app or digitally.

If SHARE works as intended on PS4 you won't have to loan discs anymore.

Digital is great for those who want it but for me it is a poor investment, since you cannot be reimbursed for anything purchased. Physical disc for life.

 

Although if the item is dirt cheap and next to free then and only then will I go digital.
