Digital or Disc?

  1. 1. Which version will you get?

Im getting a disc copy of the game. Since I take care of my games, I dont think having a disc is an issue

also having the disc means less to download on my HD

Same here. I lose my sh*t when I go to a friends' house and see a disc laying on top of its case. (Ok so I don't really lose my sh*t but I certainly put the disc into the case by OCD instinct)

Digital. PS4 reads from HDD/SSD only and not disc. Physical doesn't save any space. Don't care about trading my game in because I don't plan to get rid of the game anytime soon and I'm not interested in getting ten bucks back. I also don't care about "feeling" like I own the game, as some people have said.

I never understood why anyone went digital till today when I read an article about it. So in NZ and from what the article was saying most places the digital copy is way more expensive. Ive seen some (like watch dogs for PS4) that the digital copy was twice the price then the disc version. However in the article it mentioned that in the U.S they are on average within 2 cents of the disc price which is awesome. So now I understand why people would actually buy a digital copy lol. However as Im not in the U.S and its bad enough that games here cost about $90USD or $109NZD let alone paying more for the digital copy. I wonder though why its like that?

It's a non-sense, digital copies should cost less: no delivery costs, no physical stuff, servers are up anyways.

Same here, unless you buy from cdkey stores... but some of these places are illegal and that explain their low/very low prices compared to legit stores.

Doesn't really matter does it? It's going to be installed to the hard drive either way.

is it? what if one part is on the hdd and the other part on the disc. that would make the disc version faster, cause it could load its needed data from two sources... or not? what was with the oldgen versions?

my assassins creed unity version cost me 53.99 € in a bookstore that had a threeday offer plus a membership (free) discount. gamestop or digital would have been 69.99.

I think you waive your right to sue Rockstar if you choose digital over disc because you sign some terms and conditions when you download. This came to light for me recently since I have the dreaded 68/69 mission error and considered taking them to small claims court to seek punitive damages.

I am getting the digital version of GTA V on the Xbox One.

Normally if I buy a disk version of the game, it end up on eBay after a few weeks. I did this with the Xbox 360 version of GTA V and regretted it, so since I got the Xbox One, I started buy the digital version, the only downside to this, is the cost of the games on the MS store, so I normally buy Xbox gift card, to make it cheaper.

ToS is the same whether you agree to something or not

if you would read them you would see that by buying the product you automatically agree to them.

in any case good luck with your claim XD

Disc all the way! I want another physical map of Los Santos & Blaine County! *does a dance*

Also I hope that guy was joking about going to small claims court over a 100% game completion!

I'll be getting a physical copy, I like to hold my disc in my hand and wave it about... before putting it firmly, but gently, into the slot. Further to that, I got my copy of Grand Theft Auto: V on the PS4 for £24 with free delivery from Tesco Direct using their clubcard boost and £5 off their game pre-orders. So, all in all, I saved myself £23!

There's people around who really care about completing games and getting trophies etc. They need mental therapy but these people do exsist so I doubt he's joking.

Disc. Anyone that doesn't is a fool.

Why? I thought digital copies stored on the console meant faster loading times?? I've always got the disc for GTA since I like the posters/ maps that come with the instructions.

What happens when the data gets corrupted? What happens when your PS3 fails? What happens when the hard drive fails? What if you have an original 2006 PS3 that's sucking down Geritol? Not to mention you can never sell the digital copy. So if you're in a bind and wanna sell that $50 game you just bought 4 months ago...tough luck.

Selling aside, you seem to be forgetting about account history. So if your game gets corrupted or your console dies, you just go to the game store again and re-download it for free because your account already shows you've purchased it.

Then you just simply GET ANOTHER system then redownload the game

Might as well go digital the minimum time to install gta from a disc on one is going to be 2 hours some people had it take 5 - 10 hours for games of similar size.

you mean download all your games again, I had 3 or 4 different 360's and having to download everything again was a pain in the ass

and that was only my account info and some arcade games, I can't imagine having to re-download my 40+ game library.

besides what happens in 10 years when you can't download them again?

I just can't get myself to buy a game without actually getting to own it.

so I agree with husky, whenever I get the chance I'd rather buy a physical copy

5-10 hours?! LOL. Those people probably did not know to disconnect from the internet before inserting the disc on xbox one. Otherwise in a lot of cases the game will download from the store anyway even though you have the install disc in! thanks microsoft.

EDIT: plus you will still need the disc inserted to play afterwards even if it downloads the game instead. Obviously easy way to tell is if you are installing a game yet the disc is not spinning.

Only blower will be the download time but I went digital route.

I went ahead and upgraded the PS4's 500GB hard drive to a 2TB hard drive. Tons of space to play with.

Disc, because I have only 8Mbit/s download, and 40+ GB will be a pain, especially when my router dies once in a while.
