Digital or Disc?

  1. 1. Which version will you get?

Doesn't really matter does it? It's going to be installed to the hard drive either way.

Yes because digital has slightly more problems than doing it the physical way. And people want to be able to take there games back fir credit. U canr do that with digital.

Also, is it just me or... When I pay $60 for a product, I much rather have something I can hold in my hands for my money. Digital stuff just feels so volatile; like your money just dissipated into the air.

Well when you pay money for your internet, do you feel the same way?

You can't exactly hold internet in your hand.

I don't get the hate on digital. Ok fine you don't get to trade it back, but most people I know keep the games they bought because they know they sh*t in return at the counter.

Only real viable problem imo with digital is that your internet sucks.

I'm a video game collector, which probably strengthens that impression on me. I don't collect internet, but I love getting to put my game on a shelf with all my other games. I don't hate digital games, but I'll buy a physical copy over it if given the opportunity.

Disc for a variety of reasons:

- Digital is more expensive in Australia than a Physical Copy (and both come with taxes already)

- Physical Copy gives me something tangible to display (I never trade in or sell old consoles or games and like collecting things in general)

- Physical does not use up any of my Internet Plan to download the game (is not an Unlimited Cap as I do not download movies etc so do not need one)

- Physical copies by virtue can be used in other systems since Sony/Microsoft are still permitting trading in games

- Depending on how R* want GTA V to be installed, you can save half the space on your hard-drive by using the disc also.

Will you be going classic and going with the disc, or will you go digital? Im personally going to go digital so i can have it ready by the 18th. Not only that but It eliminates the risk of the disc breaking/scratching since its digital! So, which way will you go and why? :beerhat:

Disc because 1) I enjoy the midnight parties at GameStop and 2) It's going to take an estimated 18 hours to download and another 5 or 6 hours to install all 50GB of GTAV for PS4. With the disc, it will be far less. Also when GTA 6 comes out in 4.5 years I can trade this disc in for a small discount, just like I'm doing with my PS3 disc.

Digital. No tracking packages, late deliveries, midnight releases, etc. Also no scratched discs; if the game is corrupt, download it again. I like waking up on release day and the game already being downloaded and ready to go. Freedom from hassle > $6 trade-in value.

Digital.

Because:

- I don't need to travel 50 km to the nearest major city to get into the mall, where GameStop is located on the release day.

- I'm not very good at taking care of discs.

- The game will download itself to my console through PS Store on November 17th, means it should be ready to play just as I get home from school on the 18th.

Digital for me, no reason why other than the extra 300k for GTA Online.

A little want for meaning, but i honestly don't care either way.

Actually, it's an extra 300k split again between Online and SP, for 150k for Online and 150k for SP. Not that it would change your mind, but just thought you'd like to know!

physical on ps4, digital on pc. because on pc it works via steam which means that the disc installation in one time deal and then you can throw the disc away forever.

Uhh.. I got both ( smh.. )

My wife pre-ordered it (physical copy) trying to surprise me because I kept buggn' about how it wasn't on the XBOX ONE marketplace to download, but they had it promoted all over the 360 dashboard for a physical copy via retailer..

(keep in mind she still hasn't told me she did this)

I finally see it pop up yesterday when I checked it and IMMEDIATELY purchased it and went to tell my wife they finally put it up, she pulls out her iPhone and shows me the receipt for the game....

* it was at this moment, my wife knew..... she fu*ked up *

Sounds like you f*cked up..not your wife.

according to the site, it's the 1m that you get as a general preorder bonus that gets split. 500k Single, 500k, Online.

There was a previous preorder bonus that ran up until...the 8th I believe, where it was 300k to Online.

I'm actually more surprised that there's a new offer for recent pre-orders (the "until Nov 17th" option which is the 150k)

EDIT: It was up until the 3rd that this bonus existed. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/gta-5-digital-ps4-preorders-come-with-300-000-curr/1100-6422819/

She didnt f up she was being a good wife trying to make her husband happy ^_^

Also digital isnt the future until there is zero problems with it

True. Looking at the stand point of extra money being spent on a video game when we have kids christmas

presents to buy.. kinda throwing money away aka *moment she fukkd' up*

Ofcourse I was happy she did this for me, but SHE was the one that was like.. "eehhhh yeah kinda fukkd' up with this one lol"

We laughed it off and that was that..

P.S My wife is an awesome lady, and I'll take that as a compliment..

(If you don't have a next gen console, please don't scream about it won't work, had past problems, mann this digital game next gen wise is on a wholeeeee new level.. you guys will be surprised at how it runs your games 99.9% of the time trouble free.)

But I definitely understand if it's a preference thing, but don't rule it out cause you think it's gonna mess up or something.

Considering that GTAV will likely make you download the disc content to your hard drive anyway... Digital.

Also to the people saying that bought GTAIV on digital and it took forever blah blah blah... wake up, that sh*t was like 10 years ago. Hopefully you've upgraded your internet connection since then.

You really have no idea that in most of the world there is no option to buy 100 mbit internet no matter how much money you have. It's physically impossible to have more than 20meg here and where I live and that's a much faster link that most the rest of the population in my area are able to get. I'm lucky to have those speeds. I also have a limit of 50gig per month and GTA V would take all of that. Plus the digital version costs 20 dollars more..

I dislike digital copies of games, especially since I enjoy the tangibility of a disc. Being able to take my entire game collection with me in a CD case to easily play on other people's systems is what I need. As long as you take care of them, no need to be afraid of damage, especially if you keep them safely inside a CD case.

Miss Malevolent

I went digital cause I already own physical copy of the game so I didn't need another.

It installs the whole game anyway, so I would save drive space.

Supposedly it loads faster, so we'll see.

$300,000 is a pittance, but money is money.

Is this The Guy?

I'm buying the disk for the ps4, only reason I had a digital version of this game for ps3 is because the ps3 I had at the time of it's release couldn't play disks

disc flaw :

~ can easily damaged ( if completely broken , u have buy another one ) but makes up for additional benefits ( such as maps , while other are exclusive for special/collector edition )

digital flaw :

~ streaming / delayed texture popup/loading ( this is especially problematic if player pilot a plane and then crashed to the slow-popup tree ) but makes up for infinite download

~ cutscene issues

They both fully install on the drive on PS4.

I previously preordered my ps4 copy on amazon. But since I already own a physical copy of the original on 360(before they stamped the 8gb storage warning on it) AND psn is offering even more in-game money, I canceled my amazon order. Digital is cheaper than ordering it, less annoying than gamestop, and I can play it sooner. Why would I ever trade in a game I enjoy?

That being said, my ownership of the original disc has influenced my decision. Gta V is a game I would like to physically own, at least in one way or another.
