The K/D ratio, the bane of every online game?

I think it would make a hell of a difference if the stat didn't attach to free roam. I noticed the tense, paranoid hostile nature of public free roams on like day one of this game, very different from IV where people were more care free, both in terms of fighting and approaching randoms. Allthough that's not necessarily a good thing, it can get boring and less immersive when there's nothing at stake, nothing to work for, no competitive element what so ever. IMO anyway. And I can't see the point of taking it out of deathmatches. If it's meaningless it shouldn't bother you at all.

It's true that there's not always much challenge to freeroam pvp so the stat can be boosted to Ghengis Khan levels of dominance which I find pretty funny tbh. Certainly nothing to get all tense, butthurt and bitchy about. I mean yeah, it doesn't matter, no one cares so lets create the 90th K/D thread on this subforum so people can bitch about it some more :rol:

don't really think the K/D is the main offender here

think the hospital bill insurance fee's and bank accounts play a bigger part in causing this behaviour.

keeping score doesn't seem to help either

In terms of making people more guarded and paranoid I guess yeah. The quest for weapon tints and a higher KDR can drive the open hostilities quite a bit though, people will openly admit they're killing players unprovoked for those reasons. I usually just say it's a case of mistaken identity then keep killing lol

I'm rank 533 with a K/D of 3.92 mine is high because I use a jet 90% of the time. It's because I have everything in the game and done everything.

K/D is worthless. Even in CoD it is often worthless. You can play Domination loads and get endless points for capturing positions. BUT you obviously die more doing that so your K/D goes sh*t despite you kicking ass at what the game mode asks of you

I'd like the k/d to be removed. When I saw mine slipping below 1 last year I spent too much time worrying about it, avoiding street fights, deathmatches and other potential sources of fun. I got it up to 3.67 by ever-slower increments, mainly by using the heavy sniper in free roam.

My new console resolution is to enjoy the game more, take it less seriously, do more things and not worry if I get my arse kicked occasionally. And forget about k/d.

Those who are saying k/d shouldn't be removed because they don't bother looking at it anyway are missing a point. SOME players' obsession with k/d is causing them to grief lobbies. Sniping, tanks, jets, spawn killing low level players, or whatever.

If they removed k/d it would be better. Half of the players online probably couldn't calculate it from their kills and deaths anyway, so it would diminish in importance and people would chill more.

They're just part of the game. Snipers are a challenge, tanks are easy targets, jets are a pain in the ass. But If you are a skilled player you can deal with griefers, or you can just leave the lobby or go passive mode.

People with these high K/D have a god like complex. Yeah if it was legit earned then your good, but your ass isn't invincible either. One bullet to the dome is all it takes to put you down.

A high k/d ratio is more of an achievement than any award the game spits out at you.

Unless of coarse you cheat to earn it, there is nothing wrong with being proud of a high k/d ratio.

No, you know what the bane is in multiplayer games is? Players not being able to differentiate player's who just play for fun & player's who play for fun & to compete. Then you force your entitled opinions on others saying "this doesn't matter " or " go play this.. "

Sincerely, Trolling.

K/D says nothing in a game like GTAO. I can kill unsuspecting players all day and build up a bitchin' K/D, but will I be a skilled player? Nope. As long as your K/D is above 1, it's fine. That shows you can at least defend yourself. Any K/D above 2 just shows you probably are one of those pricks who kill people while they're shopping. Only a fraction of the players with a high K/D actually got that K/D by killing other skillful players face to face.

Great numbers with no proof to back any of it up...but then again, I expect that from your posts.

Here's what funny. Almost Every single person in this forum says KD ratio doesn't matter. Yet every session I join I hear players on the mic saying "check the KD ratio or wow his KD ratio is high". All the time.

You know what else is funny? Anecdotal evidence isn't really evidence.
That doesn't sound funny to me. Besides. The people in this forum that represent maybe 1% of the gta community is a small sample size as well.

This forum probably represents .0001% or less of the community, unless you think there are 300K people on here.

No. Those who are play simply to kill will continue to kill because that's what they like to do.

As for your issue with people sniping, guess what? It's totally fair. I also have no idea how one would grief a lobby with a sniper rifle. Take off the panties and put on some big boy pants, sir.

Not sure what you're getting at here. All I say is that people with a high K/D are more likely to have gotten it by griefing random unsuspecting players than by killing skilled players face to face. This is logical to basically anyone who ever set foot in a GTAO session. Please do explain why I'm wrong

People who say it doesn't determine skill are wrong. Now I know some people boost their ratio (just why?) but most of the time there is a clear correlation. Have a look at the table after a deathmatch. I can almost guarantee you the best players will have the best overall K/D. It is good for crews so you can only pick the best players. Though I also hate the "dudebro my KD is 4.6 bro" kids with chrome adder and light blue wheels.

Kill death all comes down to playing style

Kd is irrelevant

If you spend most of your own time in the air or in a tank youll have a high kill death as your at a tactical advantage most of the time doesn't mean they're arnt people that can't shut you down tho

but it doesn't also mean your not good at shooting maybe it's just what you like to do

Then there's people who are always on foot or in a car and attack you head on

most of the time they usally have lower kill deaths

But it's doesn't mean they are worse

They just have riskier playing habits

They usally develop good aim and great timing with grenades sticks and such

Then there's people who kill and run

They have slightly higher kds then most people

But they lack the skill in a gun fight

They do come up with really good traps tho if they keep at it

And they usally end up really good drivers

And that's why I think it's irrelvant there's really only 3 types of players when it comes to killing and they balance each

other out

If this game was only about shooting it would be more relevant but it's not

theres to many ways to kill people to say kd matters

All you're saying is completely based on nothing. You have no idea why someone's K/D is high or low. You also directly stated that above a 2 K/D "probably are one of those pricks who kill people while they're shopping". That's stupid and based on no facts.

I probably would have ignored your post had you given a reasonable number, but if you think you can't keep a 2 or better K/D without being a douche, you're very wrong.

I'm only saying it's more likely to be a douche than a player that's actually skilled. More likely. I'm not implying it's impossible. Though I have to say "probably" was the wrong choice of words. There are more pathetic griefers out there than skilled players, is what I meant. Both have a high K/D, which is why K/D does not equal skill.

It means nothing. No, in fact less than nothing as it's often a lie. I saw two players boosting at the weekend. They were taking it in turns to kill a low level who did nothing to stop it. Was almost running towards them. It's easy to boost on PS3, they just have a friend create a second profile to die a lot. Instant kdr boost.

I've said it before, kd ratio should ONLY factor in competitive game types, ignoring free roam entirely.

This game is a lot more fun if you don't care about your K/D and just throw caution to the wind. I get some kills, get killed, it's just a video game.

Is there a way to see death match kdr excluding free roam.

Best you can do is check your crew stats for deathmatches. It'll have your DM K/D.
