HOW'S ANNIE? Posted November 12, 2014 Share Posted November 12, 2014 Much like Darkel, we've pondered for a while as to who the hell this "Curtly" was listed in the game's credits. The fact is that Rockstar at no point has never actually acklowedged Curtly, which for some odd reason has always lead me to assume he's actually in the game... Somewhere. I remember once finding a video of Curtis McLarin (and being completely surprised he was black), yet the only true black character that I could think of with speaking lines in the game is D-Ice, which we all has a voice listed. But it wasn't until today that I was playing the mission Rumble for D-Ice, where you have to go pick up his "little brother" and drive him to this fight. It struck me as odd when I thought back to the fact that this character actually wasn't listed in the credits (that said though neither are the new reporter or the people speaking in the last cutscene). So I try to find a video I can be assured it Curtis McLarin, before his recent passing of course... And sure enough the voices are pretty similar. Can't say they sound exactly the same because of the audio in III, on top of this video of McLarin being recorded (I assume) a few years after 2001. But here we have it people. I can't say I'm right, and I can't say I'm wrong either, but this is my stab-in-the-dark attempt at figuring out who the hell Curtly was. Robinism Posted November 13, 2014 Share Posted November 13, 2014 Interesting theory. It would be great to be able to compare D-Ice's brothers voice with Curtis McLarin. I guess it would be safe to say that Curtly had to be a member of The Southside Hoods gang in some way? If he WAS a gang member, maybe he was a cop, a politician or something else completely different. Darkel had 5 missions(eventually cut down to two) and was apparently removed 'months' before the game came out and his removal had nothing to do with 9/11. It also appears he was moreso tied to rampage style missions, and was less of an activist and more of a madman. The 9/11 article specifically mentions they cut a single mission about terrorists, and a magazine states it was an activist trying to bring down the economy.
