GTA 5 is coming at the end of the console cycle. Does the advance of technology interest you? Do you think, 'Oh wow, what will GTA 6 look like on a PS4?'

Of course were interested. But no, not in terms of GTA, because were always working on the current game. We look at the tech at a more practical level: what will be ready for which game that were working on further down the line. We dont have another GTA in development, we dont work on three of these games at a time. That would be phenomenally depressing.

 

So, in terms of GTA, no. We get pitched by the hardware manufacturers on what theyre planning to do and our tech guys come up with ideas on how that could be used. Does this influence design decisions? Of course. But were not sat there fantasizing about 10 years down the line. Were so busy with what were doing right now.

I stand corrected. Either way in several of his interviews he flat out lied, remember him saying the game wouldnt have customization? Something like that.

All the core game elements are definitely the same, so yes it fundamentally IS the same game. I believe what r* is offering now isn't a new game but an experience that wasn't given on last gen, not that it could have been. Of course though they don't advertise that clearly and that's why people are using the I'm not buying the same game again argument. I personally feel the ng selling point is "life simulator", example is with real graphics(give or take) and 1st person. Nothing wrong with that neither.

 

Now to actually pay full price after playing last gen, that is a ripoff, BUT people have to remember back when we were all thirsty for v after the trailer drop and seemingly super long wait. Everyone was impatient and wanted v to drop super quick. People then even assumed it might only be for ng. Having gtav on last gen was a treat back then, and we've payed in money and in the flaws last gene suffered from coming so soon. That said, since it's not the most efficient to pay full price again, nobody has to give that much if they don't want to, just wait til after this Christmas, until 2015 and get a used copy for probably almost half price, specially if you keep up with eBay and Amazon, pawn, ect. Just don't f with gamestop, you'll get screwed every time.

 

Also IMO Microsoft and r* should bundle that sh*t for peeps that don't have ng yet, everyone would love that cash save

A preorder bonus for returning players equal at least to a $10 Shark card is a discount, or at least a rebate of sorts. How long do you have to play to make GTA$500,000? How long do you have to work at your real-life job to pay for a Shark card? Either way the bonus is saving you time and time is money.

 

If the price is too high then there is the option to continue to play last-gen, which Rockstar is still releasing content for, and wait for the new-gen to be sold for less.

 

Rockstar has never invested this much in re-releasing a game before. People will vote with their dollars and I have a feeling Rockstar made a good bet.

It's the same damn game. There's no new GAMEPLAY. All the sh*t they've added is just aesthetic stuff, much like all of the updates we've gotten for Online. Reskinned vehicles, weapons, etc. Nothing exciting, therefore we shouldn't have to pay full price.

$60 is literally, five hours of work for me. And I work 50-55 hours a week right now. This doesn't include over time, which is time and a half.

 

$60 dollars ain't nothing. As much time I've put into the last gen, for an upgraded version I'd be glad to give Rockstar my money again.

 

As most people have said, get a job! That's really all it comes down to. And if you can't get a job, there's always Santa in December.

i paid 120 aud for special edition on ps3, i only paid 50$ for ps4 version pre ordered. to me it is discounted because if it was full price id be still paying 90$ because australia is fked up when it comes to game prices.

Price doesnt concern me at this point considering i just paid 80$ for assassins creed Rogue on ps3....

If its the same game to you dont buy it, pretty simple why would you buy the same game twice? lol. this is why i didnt buy the last of us remake because that game actually didnt change anything because its all story.

EBgames and similar stores may offer a trade-in of their own, like they did with The Last of Us (bring in the ps3 copy to get the ps4 copy for 24.99) but at this point it's a definite no from the publisher, probably seeing as a lot of development time (money) was invested into the upgraded version

If you dont think re buying this game at 60 $ is a deal then you dont know the value of a dollar plain and simple.

 

I had already repurchased the game because my disc was so fvcked up from PLAYING THE GAME SO MUCH. The disc would freeze everytime. So I re bought the digital version and they threw in like 500k $ with the digital version I had to rebuy in order to play.

 

60 $ cannot get you anywhere in life. If you find something you can spend 60 $ and spend countless hours on you have yourself a great deal my friend. Honestly 60 $ is too cheap for this game I would like a pricetag of 80-100 $ per gta title.

 

I was honestly a little upset there was no 100 $+ version coming out for next gen as I would have glady bought it. Only because I know the value of purchasing this game far surpasses the value of 60 $ spent on anything else known to man.

Although I am guessing affording the purchase may have been part of the inspiration for the thread from you OP, it isn't necessarily important for the question.

 

To the people who are saying 'get a job'- try and think how many people in the world might not actually be able to afford the cost - my missus is stay at home looking after our 2 year old - she doesn't get maternity pay anymore and we can't get free nursery time yet so I am the only one in the house bringing home the bacon to support us and pay mortgage - all in all means not so much disposable to go around.

 

So as someone who is outright broke right now my answer is YES I think it is fair.

 

I have got incomparable value for money from my 360 version, and the new gen version will have even more. Yes you are paying for new shine (which aint free mate) - but you are also paying for 30 player lobbies (erm.. no new gameplay possibilities?), the game changing FPV and all the promise of future developments that old gen would start to wheeze at.

it's really not. closer to $60. Base price is usually £45/50 but they never actually get sold for that. Any supermarket or Amazon etc sell them cheaper.
