For last gen owners? I mean the game looks amazing but its obviously been in development a long time before they released last gen versions.
Other companies have had offers where if you bought the last gen version they gave you a discount on current gen (Activision for digital purchases give a free digital version for current gen.)

Games in the UK are very expensive compared to America - only people that will disagree with that is the kids whose parents buy them everything but R* seem really greedy now.
A couple of cars and planes can hardly be considered enough.

You payed for the game, you enjoyed the game that you bought, they provided you with many free updates.

If you dont want to pay full price to enjoy the new features on ps4 xbone.. Dont buy the game.

Well, they are giving in-game cash, and letting you transfer. That isn't cold hard cash, but it's a perk and function they didn't have to add. I don't get all this "greedy" talk. They're a business, not a charity - their prices are in line with every other game.

No. Most of those games with discounts are exact copies of the same game no difference except for gfx.

fp mode many cars (they said a fleet i think more are coming than dukes stallion monster truck and dodo) and new sp features are enough of a difference to justify a new game new price. Most games with the free upgrade were made for xbone ps4 and then downsized for ps360. Gta v was made for ps360 and upgraded for next gen

I was honestly a bit miffed about paying full price for the game again, but after getting back $21 for the 360 version, having spent over 1600 hours in online alone, I don't mind as much. And the fact is, i didn't technically pay for it in the first place (gift cards from amazon, i think i paid $8 for the delivery day shipping).

How many copies of last-gen GTA V were sold? That's going to be a lot of discounts if a large number of those players upgrade, but like others have said, buying the same game again sounds a little weird, especially with the things added: better graphics, first-person mode, more animals, exclusive vehicles, weapons, etc... I might get it on PC later when I get the appropriate funds to build one, but I need to see other people's reviews about Online's stability.

Give a discount to those who played on the old system and new players would whinge, offer everyone a discount and old gen players would still whinge. There's no win here so R* has done the only thing they really should do, offer nothing at all. GTAV on X360/PS3 was the beta let's face it and after all that's been revealed about the new gen version there's no reason imo to offer a discount. Brand new game really.

Price point differences are the biggest issue in general. Although I prefer console gaming, it would be too expensive in Australia to make the switch to PC Gaming unless I was going to invest a significant amount of time into playing the games (to re-coup the cost difference between console and PC games) as even purchasing the components from scratch and building a PC yourself, you are looking at around $1000 to run something comparable to PS4 since you can just not compete with such a mass produced product that can have a lower entry level cost.

I admit Im not 100% on the ins and outs but the tax systems are different. you cant really compare the US and UK pricing like that.

 

How much is a new game over there? most games here in the UK are about £35 - £40 inc tax, whats that? about $60??

I will be waiting for a copy to show up on the used shelf at GameStop.

I don't think its unfair. But I'm not gonna pay another $60 for better graphics.

I bought the ps4 and pre-ordered the game with my hard earned cash. It's a big purchase but i would never expect them to give a discount. If we didn't invest for the resources it takes to make such a game then it wouldn't exist in the first place.

 

I can understand feeling left behind especially if you can't afford it. I'm glad i bust ass working hard and earning a well deserved paycheck.

 

So yeah theres going to be spoiled brats who get it for free, but they are getting fat in their parents basement until they get kicked out with no future. You shouldn't be concerned.

Yea I was happy with this, and is actually a clever move on R★ part,

 

I had no issues paying top whack again, the only thing is FC4 comes out on the same day and gta has forced me into waiting that one out lol, im not spending ni on £100 in one day on game this close to xmas, the wife would leave me!

Yes it is. We gave our input on how the game can be made better, and instead of adding it in last gen like they said, rockstar adds all the features WE wanted into the next gen version, forcing us players who already bought the game, to buy it again.

GTA 5 is coming at the end of the console cycle. Does the advance of technology interest you? Do you think, 'Oh wow, what will GTA 6 look like on a PS4?'

Of course were interested. But no, not in terms of GTA, because were always working on the current game. We look at the tech at a more practical level: what will be ready for which game that were working on further down the line. We dont have another GTA in development, we dont work on three of these games at a time. That would be phenomenally depressing.

 

So, in terms of GTA, no. We get pitched by the hardware manufacturers on what theyre planning to do and our tech guys come up with ideas on how that could be used. Does this influence design decisions? Of course. But were not sat there fantasizing about 10 years down the line. Were so busy with what were doing right now.
